Thank you for making this video! I was surprised that the majority of the shredders under $100 only shred for 3-6 minutes before needing a 30 minute rest! And they were loud. So I went to Amazon to buy it and the extended warranty but cost was $223.41 plus $44 4 year warranty. Then I went to Bonsaii website. I spun the wheel for a discount (10%). I received Free shipping. Free 5 year warranty during coronavirus. I paid a grand total of $117!! About half the cost of Amazon plus an extra year of warranty! I am soooo excited about finally shredding my paperwork!
Nice to have a hands-on video. Thank You for taking the time to do this. This machine is German made, so it just might be as good as it rates. Depending on the model a 3 - 6-year warranty thru manufacturer! You don't put that on a product if it is going to fail in one year.
I bought one and returned it within the 30-day trial period. I had a long strips of shredded newspapers, and it is also a SAFETY HAZARD -- there was a big piece of sharp CD that wasn't shredded right. I emailed Bonsaii customer service about the safety hazard especially with young kids and the house -- their response was "In this case, we recommend that you wear glasses when using it and keep a safe distance from the machine. If there are children in your house, please place this kind of machine in an area where children can't touch. Because newspapers are relatively thin and have longer paper fibers, this affects the effect of shredding to a certain extent. The result of shredding newspapers is long." I unsuccessfully tried to get a return material authorization so Bonsaii will foot the return shipping bill, and their response was "it's working as designed." They offered to give me a $20 credit, but I turned it down and sucked up the $60+ return shipping charge. Of course, I will file a credit card dispute.
Read all the complaints and most are people that didn’t read the instructions, if the power light is flashing for instance the container isn’t all the way seated, take it out, see what’s preventing it from going all the way in and fix it!
If you want to keep things clean, for example in a nice office environment, perhaps it is better to use liners, otherwise you will get dust from the shredding all over the interior of the waste basket. Also according to their manual every 5-6 emptying of the waste basket, you should oil it.
@@fastfoodrocks I spoke to one of the leading shredding companies in Uk. They said you should put oil on a plain piece of paper and then place another piece of dry paper on top. Then run it thru the shredder.
Does it still work good after 5 years and I just saw this online I wanted to get it but wanted to see a review first and did it have any problems with you let me know all the details please ... And wait a minute sir you said 18 sheets is the maximum that's insane and it can crush up CDs and credit cards that's amazing too what about cardboard?
Dumb question. I just got one of these, plugged it in and the power light comes on. The problem is the basket does not want to come out. When you opened yours it seemed very easy. I am afraid to pull too hard. Any Ideas?
I am looking into getting one of these but I was curious if it also shredded cardboard boxes if I cut them into strips? What about double thick cardboard as well? thank you.
@@fastfoodrocks Thank you for the reply. I am going to order one because I want to break down cardboard and other paper products into smaller pieces for trash space savings in my waste containers. Space it at a premium in my household and we are always over the top full. Using a old small shredder I have managed to break down three large trash bags of wrapping paper and stuff from Christmas to fit into 1/2 a bag instead so far. seems like a no brainer if cardboard could also be broken down.
Hi there. It's been over three years since you did the review. Just wondering how your shredder is holding up, as I'm considering buying it from Amazon. :) Thanks so much for the review!
Bonsaii EverShred C149-D This model number on Amazon says it's a micro cut that is clearly a cross cut strip. I don't know why it says it's a micro cut on Amazon
Its been a while since you posted this video. Would you recommend this for classroom use? I have lots of documents that must be disposed of to ensure student privacy and need a reliable long lasting shredder.
Phalanda Johnson I still use it but very infrequently now only because I don’t have much to shred. But when I was moving I shredded quite a bit of docs and it held up well.
I have not had any issues with overheating especially compared to the small cheap one I used to have. I can't say what the runtime would be. I know when I was moving and decided to shred boxes of documents, this one gave me no trouble, and I never had to wait for a cooldown period. I don't know if that helps...
LD ALVA that’s not the model number I have. Usually for shredders you just pull the bin out. I had one shredder where you just lifted the shredding mechanism off the plastic bin.
Bonsaii do a crypto cut model, not exactly cheap but great for shredding stuff like old bank letters and statements. You should do a little research before buying a shredder and aim to buy one that does what you want and can afford.
You shred CDs if you have like a data CD/DVD with pictures or important data, and you transferred those to another storage medium. Or you want to get revenge and destroy someone's favorite CD lol!
jim jones if you have sensitive documents on a cd.. easier than cutting it up. Breaking them doesn't necessarily destroy all files if you have the right tech. I wouldn't show shredding of my credit card or address, but as the kids say.. yolo!
I was looking up reviews for this shredder and came across your video. I then clicked on another channel that appropriated your video and passed it off as her own, and appears to have done this for all the videos on her channel, thought you may like to know: ua-cam.com/video/f_synIiYFIc/v-deo.html

That stinks sorry to hear about that experience!
We love ours! I put Dish TV envelopes which are pretty thick ,unopened right through it!

Hi! Great review! What does oiling mean?
@@bunbunx1 I think it means put a couple drops of oil on the blades and/or gears.

Thank you! This was a very well done review! Based on this review, I am going to purchase one.
How do I open the shredder? There’s a lip on the door. I pull it hard, but it doesn’t budge.

@@klumze9911 it is not recommended to shred cardboard in these machines.
Mine did not come assembled like that. As for the wheels, it kept falling off when I attached them. So left them off

How do you clear paper buildup that does not clear blades when you switch the shredder to reverse?
How do you open the paper tray on the Bonsaii 4S23?
