    4:06 The part where it's missing the bipod is still excusable, since you could actually see somephotos of WWII american soldiers and marines holding the weapon without it's bipod and carry handle. The reason they kept it off is because they found it very unwieldy to carry around, and stripping it off the bipod and carry handle made it lighter and less awkward to carry. But idk this is just what I've heard a long time ago.

    If at 3:48 it really is a M2 Carbine, that weapon does have an automatic bolt hold mechanism, but it closes itself after removing the magazine.
    Rising Storm 2: Vietnam has depicted this correctly.

    • @venommagnus
      @venommagnus  Рік тому +7

      The easiest way to balance weapons with a high rate of fire is by making the recoil more harder to control, or do what Battlefield V did and make the bipod a necessity for long range potential.

    Don't know a lot about guns, but I know when a gun has something wrong

  • @wolf_7479
    @wolf_7479 Рік тому +3

    I'm a bit late but here's "some" additions
    1:05 that rate of fire is way too slow for a full auto Mauser
    2:05 even if you're a pro gunslinger there is no way to cock the hammer on a Reichsrevolver that fast due to the ergonomics, especially not one-handed (see C&Rsenal vid on the gun)
    2:07 the casings would not extract that easily, there was a wooden stick required to punch them out after firing.
    Also that rear sight on the Reichsrevolver is waaay too wide, the thing has one of the worst sights imaginable irl.
    3:00 pushing the bolt into battery is correct, the bolt is not supposed to move forward on its own, this can be caused by worn clips (see pinned comment on "Garand thumb was a big deal, guys" short by Tenacious Trilobite)
    3:46 the bolt hold open would be correct for the 30rnd mags, but the bolt would slam forward when you remove the mag (ofc those are the 15rnd mags so you're right)
    4:08 missing the bipod isn't necessarily wrong, as some soldiers ditched it.
    4:49 did you have to use that skin, I feel pain
    7:39 on the sten gun the mag holding issue is debatable, the contrary can be true depending on the gun (see "STEN - The Weapon of WW2 Resistance" by InRangeTV)
    8:21 Oh no, now we're getting to my field, there's so much wrong with the model 2 (not Type 2 btw, Type 2 implies adoption in 1942, when the gun is from the 30s and was never adopted). I'll just copy the list of issues from one of my older messages
    -Fictional charging handle on the right
    -Fictional bolt travel
    -Sling swivels are wrong (funny that the front sling point on their model is the IRL charging handle)
    -Fictional ejection cover
    -Fictional cut in the stock on the right for the fictional ejection cover
    -Rear sight is wrong
    -Reload animation doesn't use the mag release even tho they modeled it
    -The entire barrel shroud that should travel back during recoil doesn't move
    -The barrel section you would see if the shroud moved isn't modeled
    -The mag release is modeled wrong
    -The section right below the muzzle is modeled wrong
    9:16 I've spent a lot of time with that model trying to fix it for a personal project.. anyways
    -the drum is modeled completely wrong, the gun feeds from 15rnd circular feed strips that are inserted on the right side
    -the rear sight is modeled wrong
    -the gun should be short recoil operated (meaning the barrel should recoil back)
    You didn't mention the Type 100, but that gun also has a bunch of wrong details
    -Rear sight is wrong (cut open instead of closed)
    -There's a mesh hole in the forward sling swivel
    -The magwell mesh doesn't go into the "tube" instead there's just a solid wall
    -The chamber isn't modeled correctly
    -Mag release isn't modeled correctly
    -Their 8mm bullets have the wrong dimensions
    -The barrel should have cooling fins (inside the shroud ofc)
    -Bayonet lug bar has weird overhang at the rear
    -Bayonet lug is too big
    -You can see part of the stock mesh through the ejection port
    -The bolt is modeled wrong
    11:47 lol
    13:27 there's a Gewehr 24(t) with trench mag, as for Kar98k I've seen pictures, but those could very well be post-war modifications (i.e bubba).
    Also the trench mag wasn't easily detachable
    14:33 holds 5 rounds in a 4 round magazine.
    15:21 fun fact about that drum, they messed up with the animation and some of the drum mesh remains on the gun during reloading (slow down the reload to see it)
    15:44 not every rifle grenade, there are some that work with live ammo (French VB/Japanese Type 100), but you're correct this one would blow up in your face.
    16:18 Oh you have no idea, there's a joke about this game that goes "Every time I look at it I find something new and awful" this video could be hours long tbh alone from the stuff you can check on its imfdb article.
    If you read this entire too long message, thank you :)

    The grand cannot ping with ammo remaining. Think of it like this: drop an unemptied can to the ground then an empty one; you can tell which would "clank". Now use this analogy and apply it to a garand clip ejecting with ammo remaining and it being ejecting upon last shot.

  • @invictusangelica
    @invictusangelica Рік тому +2

    Okay there are certain nitpicks I must point out:
    -The BAR gunner would more often than not remove the bipod entirely as the gun is already heavy enough and they can just lay and fire in prone pretty easily without the bipod. Plus, it being classified as a rifle makes sense due to its actual name: Browning Automatic Rifle. This also applies for its Swedish cousin.
    -The M1A1 drum mag can be a real thing but it's the magazine that is modified to go into the gun, not the opposite.
    -The MP40 only grip stance is literally to the magwell, same for the M3 Grease Gun. This is being pedantic and an issue only on the STEN and other side feeding subguns.
    -The Sterling did see testing in WW2 but only saw massive adoption post war.
    -The Trench Gun did have a 6-round magazine tube + 1 in the chamber for a total capacity of 7 rounds.

    • @venommagnus
      @venommagnus  Рік тому

      About point number four: The character isn't gripping it by the magwell, he's holding it by the center of the magazine. Though Vanguard corrected this and had the character hold the magwell instead.

  • @nottodaydevilshindowraithe501

    Weapons beforehand aren't built like today. Holding them by the magazine actually helps, rather than the opposite. I think Brandon Herrera pointed this out in his video on the Bri'ish Toob. Aswell as soldiers were trained to have that sort of hold. If I remember all of this correctly, if I don't, then oh well.

      No not really, especially in a looser fitting magwell it will definitely cause problems. The sten is just such a piece of shit that there is not really a very good way to go about holding it with your offhand even if you didn't want to use the magazine as a grip
