Thanks Ryan for the will it fire on the Buick!! A friend of mine was getting a car running by pouring gas down the carburettor, it backfired and made him jump spilling the fuel, the gas ignited and he was in flames, he was ok, just a few burns and went to a halloween party head to toe in bandages!! Love the Chevy and yes I would paint it (eventually)
I grew up hearing stories about the old Chevy sixes that Dad owned in the forties and fifties, one thing about that car is that it has a radio, those were a two piece unit, I had one of those years ago but got rid of it,as sweet as that little Stovebolt six runs I would only fix the bad places on the body, give it a spray job paint job and drive it as is.
With the black rubber stone guards, that is a 1949 Chevrolet Special Styleline Town Sedan. Special is the base model, Styleline is the notchback and Town Sedan is the two door. The front and rear bumper guards and the front license plate guard are standard equipment.
@@IowaClassicCars no, 49 through 54. The rubber stone guards, along with the lack of body side, windshield and backlight mouldings and horn ring indicate the less expensive model.
Go 1949, go ! 0:31 - congrats on rebuild of the carb, sorry about the backfire 1:31 - as far as I know the sedans were Stylelines, the fastbacks were Fleetlines. Both available in Special and Deluxe trim. Specials had blck rubber gravel shields on rear fenders and 3-spoke steering wheels, Deluxes had chromed gravel shields, side spear on front fender up to the doors with Deluxe lettering close to it and 2-spoke steering wheel. 3:02 - Felix wants to help with the cable 4:17 - push the pushbutton ! It's early automatisation ! No cranks, no levers, just a pushbutton, like modern people do
I was given my aunts 1950 Chevy Deluxe Styleline out of Bylthe, Ca. that had sat for the last 40 years. I worked on it for about two years and turned into a Gasser.
Those old, inline Chevy six cylinder engines would always start and run forever. I would fix all the mechanical issues and leave the body paint as it is. What a cool Chevrolet from the past. Happy Halloween 🎃.
That Chevy and I were both born in '49. By the time I started noticing cars in '56,most '49 model vehicles, were getting rusty as I grew up in So.Bend,In. My grandfather, who worked at Studebaker, drove his '50 Champion until 1973. Only had 45,000 miles but became too rusty to drive. He helped build it as he hung doors on the line.
Excellent video Ryan :) that 1949 Chevrolet car great shape even 216 motor and hope new owner does with too ! I would restoration up take to shows for sure!
That 50 Chev looks pretty good, and it runs and the gears are good! Good thing you had a fire extinguisher, I have three of them spread around my shop just in case. I wish I had put a center floor drain in my shop like yours, that's a great idea. Another fun video!
I’ve only got the Xbox 360 hooked up at the moment. Bought a ps5 on release day but sold it not long after. Got bored of UA-cam and got out of gaming so didn’t keep up with the latest consoles/games. But if you still have a 360 and MW2 then more than happy to play
Mr. B. Here ! 👀😎👍 I understand you are running a business, I wish I could get my hands on the Buick ! I believe the timing maybe off or the fuel octane is to low for that engine . The 49 is a cool looking vehicle 🚗 it is a little older than me ! LOL ! Skill you put out great videos & very informative ! Good luck on the sale of the Buick & the 49 ! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
You've got a Styleline there. Had a '49 DeLuxe 4-door sedan and loved mine. It ran a later 235 and a 3 on the tree. Sold it when I got laid off in '81 to pay my bills. So what about that Buick? How much is it? Might be interested if the price is right. I'm surprised that it's not sucking air due to the carb leak. BTW, when and if you do the carb, clean the sediment bowl while you're at it. I was gonna tell you the shift pattern but you got it right. It's the equivalent of the 150 Chevy sold from '51-'57. Sorry Ryan, but I vote for a restore with a 235 Power glide with an electric power steering box so that my girls could drive it easier. It really sucks being legally blind and unable to enjoy all those great old cars.
good car I would restore it back to original with the original colors. Two things I don't like and I do not do to my cars is lower them that really makes them look like broke down bombs and patina I always paint them back to the original colors.
It is not a Deluxe itis a Special. The Special has rubber around the windshield instead of chrome like the Deluxe . It is the Styleline as opposed to the fastback Fleetline.
Good to hear the old girl run. She is a beauty. Hope she gets restored and back on the road for a new life.
It will be!
awesome car, i owned a 1961 chevy belair 6 cylinder it was an oil burner but dependable and ran forever like that lol
lol yep they run forever it seems
Old Chevys never die…they just wind up at Ryan’s place!

I hope it gets restored. It seems to be in a lot better condition than most.
It will!
Just goes to show that “You can’t kill an old Chevy!” Great job!

A customer of mine has a '51, the key also runs "backwards" for ignition, makes me think it is that way
Nice, thanks man for watching!
I like the older American 50`s car most .

Love the old look and patina but I like new paint and looking sharp but I realize it’s spending.

GREAT VIDEO RYAN!!!! I LOVE IT!!!! I WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM AREAS. THEN MAKE MY DAILY DRIVER.
Cool looking car,,,I'd keep it as it is,,and just work on engine and running gear,,
Great car!! Is that the oldest one you've owned Ryan?
Ive owned a few 47s but none that ran
Leave it as it is, it is only original once. Mads from Denmark.

@@IowaClassicCars I would put an interior in and make it a daily driver. Summer only, block it up for the winter months. Enjoyed the video Ryan!
Very Nice Ryan definitely fix’s it up
For sure!
I have the same car in a 4dr - brought it home, coverted it to 12V and she purrs like a kitten after who knows how mant years in a shed
The Buick could have a timing issue, my best guess would be a very loose timing chain?
A little restoration would be nice.
Ryan you should clean up the Buick before that fire extinguisher dust makes corrosion the car...
good call
I would restore this one it is really nice
yeah it is a good one!
