Definitely an improvement, but the ground itself needs more work, I feel. Big sandy patches feel a bit empty. But yay, a step in the right direction!:)

To be fair I kinda like the clean feel it has. Like tournament map for better visibility while not being too artificial
Just do a side by side comparison of the ground with League/Dota2. Tells you pretty much everything that can be improved.
In all fairness it does look quite a bit less blurry when I watched it on my computer at higher resolution. Watching on my phone it looked quite a bit worse.
probably a matter of "lisibility". Might also be some performance issue, very classic RTS problem especially since they don't have access to an homemade engine.
And readability still needs work. It would be nice if some glowing effefts (like celestial's wings) had the colors corresponding to the player's team.
By the way, readability is not that subjective.
Just measure the proportion of surface area that is dedicated to the player color. For example, in SC2 a red player's SCV is 80% red, with the rest being monochrome (metallic). Similarly, a zerg drone is also mostly player color.
In genral, most units have minimal color not specific to the player & their user-specific color areas are maximized. The rest is mostly neutral, monochrome color. The same can be done here.
If you could just drop non-user-specific colors from your models and repaint them to player color, it'd be much better.
@@BookFurnace I agree - but being a free-to-play game, I guess there will be LOTs of new skins and models that we will see appearing after some time. So I guess there probably will be lots of customization options later so everyone will be happy in the end.

@@xenom23 I am not saying, that I like that payment/monetization model. But it is, what it is. I'd love to just pay 60 bucks for this game and call it a day, but I recon this game will also be littered with season passes, skin-shops, shader-options and battle chests.
Agree. Too much metal grey on all units, everything looks similar, hard to see.

Definitely some nice improvements that makes it look a lot better. I like the new aesthetics. I don't want to be critical, but the one thing i would want to change is the gold mine model, it's not very satisfying to look at for such a core object. Otherwise great job!
I think the maps need to be even more cluttered! All the tiny details in the environment in SC1+2 were my favorite parts! Even after the upgrade, the Lost Hope Map still looks a little too plain and uninteresting!
lol give them time. Polish like that comes at the end. The map editor isn't even done yet so neither are the maps.
@@Bagginsess No harm in letting them know what I want to see. If I didn't say anything, then the Frost Giant devs might have not known that it was something someone wanted.
@@CompleteAnimation that's all well and good but you don't need to tell an F1 mechanic to put the tires back on your car. Frost Giant knows more detail and polish is needed. Just wanted you to know your wishes will come true.
how would you make a barren desert dune more cluttered? SC1 and SC2 are usually cities, space platforms and zerg overrun worlds and you don't remember the natural environments. I would say that this is comparable with harvest of screams (the ice tileset, not the protoss city tileset). If you look at natural maps in both SC, they are about the same non cluttered environments.
the mistake of FG is that they started in the most unmemorable setting to show the game. starcraft has the same, but you don't remember it.
@@giuseppebonatici7169 You must not remember all the ancient animal bones and husks of old vehicles and all the "critters" on the SC1 maps.
I haven't played since next-fest, those rolling guys look pretty cool, and the finished versions of the creeps are a lot better, haha

I do think its better to show the map visual comparation with same bio. There are lot of upgrades to replace the tiny repetetive placeholder rock to various assets. I can image whta the new forest bio will be looked like with the similar upgrade . But sadly I see many people don't aware and just think the update is just this map changed to different bio

yeah I dont know why people were so worried when it's, in fact, completely normal evolution for game development. Most people don't get it. I remember the absolute s***storm when the GTA6 leaks happened.
A great job there but I feel like it misses a bit of contrast. I'm thinking of something like Goldenaura in the current SC2 map pool

I think the projectiles are too big. Makes it hard to see what is going on in the fights
But they need to be televised also for a better micro. But I think these are slower than even Warcraft 3
@@Mruck_Trop I’m not sure that’s true unless we’re talking about something like disruptor balls. Seems to me it’s more important to be able to see health bars than projectiles
you mean there is absolutly no way to understand what tf is happening in a fight

Like I’m in a starcraft 1 terran diablo tavern at the beginning and end. And the middle reminds me of The Last Airbender.

yes it very much is. And to be fait, that's how things works in game development. Something that most people don't understand apparently.
Great work so far. Would love for the landscape to look more "miniature world"-like and less Catan-like. Ie. some "iconization" of the landscape is definitely important for the RTS-feel, but not to the degree where everything upon overview is slotted up in an isometric grid. Keep up the good work!

Great work, the game looks better with each iteration! The additional textures are amazing, and the creep camps are getting more polished too. Love to see the new Exo model in action!
Also noticed that the Kri freeze and can't move while they are in their exploding state, which is a really nice improvement in my opinion, love to see the team react to the feedback of their beta testers!
I love how the new exos are brighter so they pop among the dark lancers and medium bright medics a lot more!
Like the improvements but the terrain still looks flat and opaque... anyway have big faith in FG! :)
Looks very good! The details add a lot especially the variety in cliff sides.
Good job, you managed to achieve better graphics in a short period of time between Frigate nad now.
I think that now we have good balans between cartoony and serious look. Now SG looks a little more gritty and darker than visuals from Frigate. Devastated trees and other doodads are clear improvement to map terrain, flat earth texture is a little more detailed (and this is ofcourse good), but still kinda "empty" at least at some places. Mouse/kangaroo creature is cute, and the music is great!
What worries me a bit is number and size of various effects, especially the flash of light when angel lands. I wonder if game will be readable enough with so many flashy effects.

i like the new dead trees! right direction, but please add some textures to the ground at least, it is so muddy and makes it look worse than it needs to be..
Did they finally tune down the particle effects? It looks much better and less overpowering. I can actually see the units.

Hope there's a race that's a master at turtling (Ie Terran) so I can turtle and steamroll the AI. That's my favorite way to play haha.
New creeps are cool, and I can see new Celestial unit.
Actually 2 new units with one being bruiser angels that crash into the ground and those ranged ones + if you look closely enough you can see new buildings :^D

My biggest issue with the game was the "clean" look and uninspired look of some of the units(eg:hedgehog). i was surprised at how much this actually meant to me until after i played a few earlier builds. i wasnt upset, just kinda.. i dunno, less enthused? glad the tone of the game is being revisted. i have very high hopes for Stormgate.
These greenish things moving reminds me Tiberium from Command and Conquer...

Welcome to the desert of the abyss
Still looks like it has graphics for mobile gaming. Less geometric aesthetic would be good. Missing dramatic lighting? Warcraft and Starcraft versions have much better gameplay visuals. T The units seem too tiny/blurry when clumped together (similar to AoE), I think you could ask 100 random people to choose the better looking game during side-by-side gameplay and Starcraft 2 would win 70/30, Warcraft 3 would be 60/40, Starcraft 1 and Warcraft 2 would even offer a strong challenge even if they lose to Stormgate. Decades have passed since those games. The new game visuals should be obviously better, this just isn't he case here. Maybe someone is too sheepish to tell the visual team that they went the wrong direction or that should have hired other people with an anesthetic more aligned with more serious RTS visuals vs. mobile RTS visuals? Music seems weak but I assume it's just for the quick UA-cam video.
Just a suggestion; Use Ori: The Will of the Wisps as a colour reference for sci-fi biomes.
If only they had that kind of talent.
The biggest feedback i can't stress enough is that the game needs to feel as smooth and satisfying as starcraft 2, movement needs to be fast, smooth and snappy

It's probably a matter of target audience. In some countries, having blood in your game is a big limitation. That's also probably the reason why Battle Aces went for mechs only.

Guys I like halo wars 1 and 2 about to try out StarCraft 2 for the first time and this game popped up and looks really good to and might be a auto purchase for me
that marine like gunmen have lazer guns. I like how sc2 marines have only guns blazing and shows no bullet , no extra fancy animations. Only inits like colossus ,the mothership nd terran warship has such level of animation and it suits them only. Man the small units attacks should not haveso much animation. Its distracting.. Lazers on little soldiers gives you those Power ranger kids show vibes. Simplicity died in the last decade.
Daily reminder that "esports first" concept never actually worked.
But it does. Look at Riot Games. Look at SC2, they did focus a lot on esports and thanks to SC2, esports is now a big global thing. Plus, they clearly said esports was not their only focus. They want a good overall RTS. They wouldn't go for coop or campain if it was just about esports. They know a thing or two about RTS.
@@Frodonsake24 sc2 esports literally died when blizzard stopped giving money. LoL is fully subsidized and controlled by riot, nothing grassroots about them. As soon as money tap dries - it dies.

I don't get why everyone goes for the "cartoony" look. It's a HUGE TURN OFF for me. I SO WANT an RTS with REALISTIC Sci-Fi graphics. SC2 was the closest but back then the GPU couldn't handle realism.
Warcraft was cartoony. Starcraft was less cartoony but still cartoony. The Blizzard style has always been cartoony.
@@Bagginsess yep, I would say that SC2 was more cartoony than SC1 tho, as unit readability was emphasized (compare hydralisk tails, for example). but people think that is more realistic because the textures were baked to look "damaged" and "aged". this game still lacks that degraded look in units to make it more war-like and that is what the low iq people really mean when they want "realism".

I don't like the desert direction that this map went. I'm a bit tired of desert maps for sci-fi and was enjoying having greenery.

Game development takes a long time. They always said it's gonna be a while. FG know what they are doing which, given their experience in video game industry, is not surprising.

game feels too much like starcraft for its own good, while having a graphical downgrade, and animation downgrade. The only good thing I see is that the units don't deathball like in starcraft 2, but that's about it

Its still a long way left and graphics isnt the first thing they should focus on. Getting the gameplay right first is more important.
