That's cool. The rubber ball core of a baseball would fly really nice. We used used to throw those for distance (not with a sling) and they carried like crazy.
Here we need an assistant in the field. We played golf with a sling in the summer - it was quite exciting. We wove a large basket out of a grid and drew a square on the ground around the basket. It was necessary to get into the basket or stop the ball in the square. The first throw was made from about 300 meters. In the field of falling, the judge marked-sticking an arrow into the place where the tennis ball stopped. So that it can be found in the grass.
If I was throwing into tall grass, I would certainly lose the tennis ball. Sling golf sounds like a lot of fun! I've tried a few times with a tennis ball. I am lucky, I don't have any snow here, so I can play in the winter too ;) .
@@IronGoober In winter it is unrealistic to play golf sling with us)). I tried it last fall. Experimented with different targets. I tried to do different things so that they would catch the ball. But so far it is not working 100%. Some balls break through the net. Others bounce off. While the experiments continue)). But I will make a video today and post it on UA-cam today. Maybe the guys will advise something. It's easier to come up with more ideas together. Happy New Year. And we hope that peace will come in the new year.

Tennis balls are surprisingly good ammo if you can get used to how lightweight they are. I'm actually opposite to your guess, in CA.

Very true, but then you need a bigger field! lol. The tennis ball is fun (and difficult!!) just because it has so much drag.

Nice, I’m going to go to a local baseball field and have a go at this today. It’ll b fun to just fling my sling. 5shots how far.
I can get around 55-60yrds depending on wind and ground roll with my 18" sling with no rotations to start
That's pretty darn good. I don't have that kind of range with a short sling.
