Windshield wiper auto function is another of several gripes I have with my 2023 Model Y. During SoCal's rare rain, I've been forced to activate the wipers. The auto feature does not respond to rain as it intensifies. I have to continuously press the wiper button on the left. There's nothing more I'd love than to rid myself of this Model Y which has been akin to a disastrous experience since early purchase.
Wiper not trivial, except here in Commifornia where it never rains anyway, HA! COOL that we are nitpicking as that means all the big stuff is well done. (how about the snappy screen response, BFD for me)
I would miss the Apple CarPlay like crazy, I listen to Apple Podcasts and Audible all the time. I listen to podcasts when I’m getting ready for work, on my way to and from work and when I’m preparing the dinner and washing the dishes. If I could purchase and EV all over again, it would definitely NOT be a Tesla. I purchased a Model Y in July 2023. Since purchase, the car has turned into a full-time job. I've had more issues with this car in 4 months than I had with my 2019 Subaru Outback in 4 years, and that is no exaggeration. One of the worse incidents was the day I backed into a parking stall. I was looking for a proximity indication on the screen. After all, my 2019 Subaru would advise - and if necessary - would apply the brakes if I got too close to anything within its camera's rear view. NOT SO WITH THIS MODEL Y. As I backed in, the monitor indicated my left/right proximities but did not measure the rear proximity. I bumped into a pick-up truck behind me and suffered minor damages due to a non-functioning proximity sensor. After several texts regarding this incident, Tesla advised me to reset the car's monitor my pressing down on the steering wheel's left and right scroll knobs. That fixed the proximity sensor issue, but the damage was already done. What ensued thereafter is incomprehensible. For 3 weeks, I tried to submit a claim thru Tesla's Insurance app. The app never worked. The alternative was to call the insurance claims department. Each time I called, I was placed on hold for more than 20 minutes. It took 57 minutes on Nov 21 to finally speak to a Tesla Insurance Rep. And now, Tesla's Claim Adjuster informed me that I am liable for the damages caused to my car. Did she not read the part about the rear proximity sensor? I'm exhausted and wish I could trade in the Tesla for a better EV.
