New to the channel but my advice as a former club guy and if you are thinking about joining a club especially a 1%er take advantage of the hang around phase. Take as long as you need and ignore the pressure to start prospecting until YOU are ready.
The dichotomy of someone who deems themselves an “outlaw” to join an organization that requires adherence to a set of rules and bylaws that are, at times, more strict than society with punishment more severe has always fascinated me.

Personally I think the 1%er designation is appropriate to those who actually represent the 1% lifestyle in dedication. Being a true 1%er is a commitment and a dedication that only 1% of the motorcycle community has the ability to give. There is a distinct difference between a 1% mindset and a true 1% lifestyle. As has been talked about and pointed out a patch is just a piece of cloth and wearing it or any piece of material doesn’t make you anything. Similar to an example you gave in the podcast me putting on a Chicago Bulls jersey doesn’t give me NBA skills. I have a great deal of respect and admiration for those who have the level of commitment necessary to be a part of the 1%. As much as I would be very interested in learning more and considering being a part of one of these groups I know that the decisions, commitments and path my life is currently on are not in alignment with the 1%. In order to respect those who have earned their patches I will never pretend to be something I am not and I think there are a lot of individuals and “clubs” who should give that more consideration before they chose their costumes.
