Each one of these electric pickups have their strong suits - for example, the Silverado EV's impressive range and the Lightning's overall comfort. Which approach to the all-electric American full-size truck works better for you? Let us know in the comments.
The midgate is a cool little gimmick. Because the moment it's too hot outside or too cold outside or bad weather you are not going to open that mid gate to let all the rain in.
Using edmunds range test and battery capacity numbers the efficiency difference between the Silverado EV and the Lightning is not that huge (2.36 mi/kWh vs 2.63 mi/kWh) nor with epa numbers (63 mpge vs 66 mpge) but the benefits of a high capacity battery can be pretty significant. Benefits of a high capacity battery like that in the Silverado EV: -Enables one to do more trips on cheap home/destination chargers and less on expensive fast chargers. -Enables workable towing range. -More capacity to offload or to use for home backup. -Range more practical for those in rural areas or have inclement weather. -Enables one to charge to as little as 50 or 60% for daily commutes, thus further improving battery longevity.
I went with the 3WT and get a completely different experience than the RST. Besides paying $40k less, it has Apple car play, regular spring suspension and 18” wheels. It is surprisingly comfortable but you do get the body roll. 3WT will also tow 2500 lbs more than rst.
@@edmundscars one thing to point out since i have a silverado 4wt. The base truck do comes with android auto The 1 pedal driving is less efficient that standard driving. If you check carefully the energy meter, and especially if you tow, you feel the truck applying the brakes while it regenerates. On the higher setting it only applies the brakes more. How to know that is easy because on the energy meter you'll see that it does not regenerate more power even tho you slow down more. In 2 pedal driving you have 2 stage regen before braking. When you let go the accelerator, it will regen, then if you slightly press on the brakes, it will regen more, then you will start using the brakes. So for best efficiency, use 2 pedal driving. Also at the end when you compare pricing, you did not state that the ford's base model has almost half the range of the GM's base model. Wich is pretty significant.
I have 18 ford lightnings in my business fleet now and theyve been absolutely spectacular for my use case. So date all thats happened is one onboard charger failure and one tailgate step. A couple of them are nearing 100,000 miles already and if they had ~ 150 more miles of range id replace the rest of my half tons with them. Huge fan and initially I was pretty suspicious of how the first batch of ordere would work.
@@jghall00I don’t care. Its a crap load heavier and a ton more expensive. The form factor makes material load out for us more of a time and labor suck plus the F150 takes the same bed gear as all my gas units. Additionally the frunk being square makes an outstanding tool box storage.
@ probably in the neighborhood of $8k per unit per 100k miles and I turn over my fleet between 130-150k so ~ $12k per truck. If any of them have a battery failure etc before then I’ll be upside down
@@mattbrew11 do you have the PRO versions or the whatever the work truck versions are called? If so why not just let them go around when warranty goes out?
Whats next a steering wheel that folds into the dash so u have room for activitys?Tesla does it right. NO key no Shifter in the " way". Whats next a steering wheel that folds into the dash so u have room for activitys?I personal like the stalks so it's right on my finger tip when hands on the wheel. I like the horn basically the airbag turn signal on the stalks wiper on left stalk right stalks is prnd and one pull for auto pilot. Yes that is all old school locations but the worked well. I would like a electric brake controller around right knee easy to reach. Every ev needs vehicle to home generator feature. 200+ kwh run the whole house off a 14 50 plug a ev standard plug. Nacs plug in 2 spots on the truck would be awesome. Pull in charging at super chargers. Passenger front fender is a better spot then driver rear if u built it to tow it has a huge battery maybe tow to a 2-3 hr away cabin. The cost of public chargers is to high so keep public charge to a minimum.
Many customers want a console shifter, can’t blame ford for appeasing their base by offering one while trying to make the most of it. I love my column shifter and I don’t think I’d trade for a console setup but there are few occasions even I do wish I had one.
GM made the correct decision, range is everything and something you can’t upgrade later. We cancelled our CyberTruck order because the range was not what Tesla promised.
Range isn't everything for most people. Only .1% of trips in the US are over 150 miles in a year. Once an EV can go reliably 300-350, all that matters is speed, convenience, and reliability of charging.
Bought a 24 Ford F-150 Lightning Flash. It's the best vehicle I've ever owned. The Chevy is nice, but I don't see significant enough upgrades from the Lightning. Lightning is more efficient, too.
One major drawback with solid-state batteries, is the swelling of the battery during charging and, ultimately the degradation of the cell after extensive recharging, lithium is a very toxic metal for the environment, not many countries want to mine it, 98% of lithium is not recycled and goes in to land fills or dumps, causing even worst toxins in peoples water canals, it is way cheaper to mine lithium than recycle it , as people are been blind sided by truth about the horrible environmental damage and have been fooled into this clean technology myth, the huge amount of lithium used to make just one lithium car is not sustainable for all cars, lithium is a water guzzling toxic metal, it takes 1000 gallons of clean water turned very toxic just to mine or build one lithium car(just one)this is just lithium and not including cobalt which is another of many other real toxic metals in the build of a lithium toxic car (horrible)
Mining from lithium from hard rock needs guzzling amounts of water to process, clean water that has been turned very toxic in the process , lithium is a toxic element unlike gold, it is super dangerous to recycle lithium, lithium battery fire is just impossible to put out as seen around the globe in the few recycling plants which have gone up in toxic fumes, no investors in there right mind wants to invest in this difficult process, no insurance company will back it up and comparing it to oil or an exxon mobile spill, the lithium spills that are happening right now in land fills is equivalent to a nuclear chernobyle ever year to the oceans, water and atmosphere, and this is just land fills, this will get much worst if Elon tesla sqeekers like you are spreading lithium as being an eco friendly shenanigans! get educated and visit a lithium recycle plant to see it`s horrfic toxic dangers, lithium mining should be prohibited on this planet!
The Rivian is also a much better product. Way more efficient, more comfortable, better capability on road and off road, etc. Yes it’s smaller, but if also lighter and so much more efficient. That Silverado weight is absolutely ridiculous. Bad ride quality, loud, inefficient, etc.
I wanted a rivian too but after having a f150 eco boost for a loaner. I saw that the F150 was more thought out, the cabin was so large, especially thr second row. For the size of the R1T the cabin was very small, especially the second row. And the price was just a deal braket. F150 lightning XLT extended range was 52k. A new rivian was almost 80k. Also the power front, and pro power on board is also ahead than R1T
if you tow, a larger battery solves nothing. Getting an extra 50 miles and using almost double the kw does not magically make it a great towing truck. If you tow long distances, get an ICE truck as no EV has solved that issue yet. Range is not the issue, charging speed is. Once, we are able to charge in 5 to 10 min, the golden era of EV towing will begin. So if the use case is not towing, carrying an extra 2000lb of weight around for no reason ruins the ride and creates inefficiencies.
If it was a towing range and charging speed test, the Chevy will win easily. The Chevy is the only EV that can tow a 6000# trailer 200 miles which is enough towing range for me. Then I can level-2 charge all day long at the campground. ICE will be over in the seeable future, so I'll try to be forward thinking.
@@dr.x4050 Now that you can tow 200 miles instead of 150 miles, that did it for you. lol. So it easily won what exactly? Do you know how long its going to take to charge a fully depleted 200kw battery at the campground if they even let you (campgrounds aren't designed to provide that amount of constant current, especially if there are multiple EV's). On a 40 Amp circuit, it would take 27hours if you don't use power for anything else while you're camping. Most campground have 30 Amp circuits which will take even longer. I own a lightning, so I am not against EV's, they are for sure the future. But I am not going to come on the comment sections and lie about them. If you Tow a lot, EV trucks are not ready yet, and that includes your declared towing winner. The use case for EV trucks at the moment are for those that work in town and don't travel long distances. A 200kw battery is a detriment, not a positive to that use case. And being able to tow 50 more miles for double the cost, doesn't change its use case to being even remotely good at long distance towing. If you tow long distances a lot, stick to ICE or you will end up very disappointed.
@@darpompie4354 In my case, 200 miles range will be enough to tow the RV to the campgrounds I'm looking at. Yes, EV trucks still suck at towing, but the Silverado EV has enough range to be useful for me. Yes, more than 27 hours is a long time to charge on 30 amps or less, but it's possible. I also need campground charging because pull-through fast DC charging doesn't really exist yet. Again, I'm trying to avoid ICE and be more forward thinking, even if it's less convenient. If I didn't care about EV towing, I'll rather have a Lightning as well.
@@dr.x4050 That's great... It's very positive that you are thinking forward. I've been doing so for 10 years with EV's and Solar. I just don't like extremism in either direction. In order for things to progress forward, people need to have real information. Hyping things up for someone and leading them to disappointment does not help the advancement of EVs. Right now, EV's excel at the use case I mentioned. Short trips and charging at home. If that's your use case, them you will love an EV. If you venture out of that, you require patience. It seems you know what your use case is and if that 50 extra towing miles makes the difference for you, then hey, the huge battery makes sense. I have no idea how many times you do this trip a year. Just know there are consequences. You are carrying an extra 2000lbs over something like the lightning or a smaller battery Silverado at all times. So you are less efficient every day to get that extra 50 miles, your handling, tire wear, and initial cost are also way worse. Again, if you do that trip often, it may be worth it for you. If you do it every once in a while, and your goal is to get to the campground empty, is it really worth all the every day negatives to avoid a 10 min stop along the way to charge up 50 more miles. If this is really your plan, and would be disappointed if your campground will not allow you to charge your truck there, you better look into your campground more carefully before you buy. As I mentioned, just like a 30amp dryer plug, these sites were not designed for continuous load. You need specialized commercial grade outlets, even at home, or you will eventually melt your outlet with fire potential. Early adopters were getting away with charging at campsites, but with so many EV sales lately, they are catching on due to their main panel breaker flipping. their main service can't handle multiple EV's charging at the same time so they are banning the practice. Anyways...Good luck. I am sure you will enjoy your truck no matter what.
I like the video but wish they would compare the lower battery pack Sierra EV. Still has more range plus a much nicer interior and quieter. Plus the MSRP is much closer.
I bet they if they could. I don't think the smaller battery size Silverado or Sierra are even out. So they have to go with what they could find right now.
@timmiser Mid tier? A Platinum Lightning would have been a more fair comparison? No. The Platinum would have outshined the interior of the Silverado even more. Other than that, it has slightly better seats (Lariat owners say their seats feel better), sound system is a little better and the massaging seats are a hit or miss and it's like an $10k price difference from the Lariat for little improvements. You only get the Platinum if you have money to waste. A Lariat is just as good, has a better payload capacity and goes further.
Car reviewers often complain about things that don't matter to owners of the vehicle. For example, who cares if the headlight switch is a real switch or on the screen? Most people use automatic headlights and never touch that switch after setting it for the first time. Native Google systems that GM uses are excellent and work well with iPhones and Android phones. Not having Car Play or Android auto should not be a deal-breaker but car reviewers make it seem like it is. Things that matter in an Ev are range, charging speed, and how the navigation system works with the charging Network. I have an F-150 lightning (pro, standard range) and I love it. However, the range and charge and speed are lower than they should be. Worse, the navigation does a horrible job at telling you where you need to stop, predicting how much range you will have when you arrive, and generally being smart for an EV. It's as if they threw in a regular F-150 sync system and added some minor EV features (which is what they did). In the end, I went with the F-150 pro because it still looks pretty good and was under $45,000 after the tax credit. If I could afford the Chevy I would love one.
CarPlay is a deal breaker for me for the exact reasons you mentioned. If the car manufacture doesn't do things right with their nav or keep updating it, you are forced to live with it. With CarPlay and Android Auto, you have the biggest tech companies constantly working and updating them. You also have countless 3rd party apps. I have 4 nav apps on my lightning. Apple Maps even integrates with my dash to give turn direction and I can use the voice control button to work with Siri instead of the Ford Voice system. I also have a Cadillac, and after 3 years, GM wants you to pay absurd subscription fees to keep things active, even thought they rarely updated anything. I also can't even use the App because I didn't want to pay for their useless Onstar system. If you think that GM's approach is better, then great, but for me car viewers that complain about lack of CarPlay as a deal killer is exactly right. I will not buy another GM vehicle after the experience I am having with my Cadillac.
@darpompie4354 Don't get me wrong I enjoy Android Auto (and Apple CarPlay when I have an iPhone). But the Google systems GM is building into their new EVs will be updated via over the air updates. If a car company used their lousy car brand interface (ie Sync) and didn't offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto I would be upset. The Google entertainment systems should be as good as CarPlay and Android Auto over the long term. It does everything that CarPlay and Android Auto do (except offer Apple ecosystem apps).
@@daveromanyshyn1170 You are giving GM a lot of leeway with your "should be as good long term". Auto car makers are in the market of making money. The only way they do that is by selling you a new car every few years (in other words, it goes against their ideals to improve old cars so that you want a buy a newer one) or charge you for services so that you pay to update your nav. GM is not a tech company, they don't have the resources, know how, or reason to compete with Apple and Google. All they want to do is lock you in so you don't have a choice but to pay for their services regardless if they are poor quality or not. Although you say Sync is lousy, Ford has been constantly sending OTA updating it. You always get those updates for free. My Cadillac infotainment system is even more lousy and I don't get any updates and no App access. I've test driven the GM EV trucks, and I didn't see anything that rivals the apps I have on CarPlay. I can't give a for sure answer if the Nav experience is any better because I haven't lived with it but I can't believe they just miraculously solved all the charging integration issues Ford has been trying to resolved for 3 years in their first try. In the end I can't see how NOT having CarPlay/android auto will end up being a better experience over the long term. From past experiences, GM has not garnered my trust that they will do as you say. I have no issue if you prefer to go that route. I am just saying for many of us, removing CarPlay/Android auto is an immediate deal killer.
@timmiser they are very similar. But automakers like GM can put their own styling skins on top of it and make minor UI changes. So each car maker will have it looking different. Android, auto and carplay always look the same no matter what car they are plugged into.
Nice review Edmunds and right on the money from what I found in my own testing. I was in the market for an electric truck the whole year and have been waiting for the Ram Charger but I gave up hope due to all the delays. Recently, I test drove: Cybertruck dual, Rivian R1T dual with extended range, Silverado EV LT and the Ford Lightning Flash. IMO, the Rivian was the most fun and performed the best but I would have to go to Montreal every time I needed service from where I live (Northern NY) and I wasn't ready to do that for my needs. The Cybertruck grew on me after driving it around awhile but it needs some time to develop before it is market ready and I don't want to be a Beta tester for Tesla which made the Silverado EV and the Lightning the only two ev trucks I really was considering. Thankfully, Watertown NY had a snow storm the night before I had my test drive of the Silverado EV so I got to drive the 8600LBS beast in the 10" of snow and slush. The weight of the Silverado EV helps with pushing through the deep snow banks but the truck refuses to stop in braking due to the heavy weight and EV tuned tires. The 4 wheel steer isn't on the LT so the turning radius is huge on the LT. Anyway, I drove the Lightning Flash and it was great for all the reasons mentioned in the review. It's a very useable truck and even still has Apple CarPlay which is a big miss for Tesla, Rivian and GM for thinking the customers wouldn't miss it. I leased the Lightning for 2 years because I still think they are all over priced from where the technology will be in two years (i.e., the cost of these vehicles as used in 2 years), and it was a great deal too.
No CarPlay is a show stopper for me - GM is trying to capitalize on a new revenue stream at the expense of the proven iPhone user interface - most people, myself included, that can afford expensive EV's, want simplicity if their electronic interfaces!
@scottwright4306 I am a Lyriq owner and native GM app is much better than the carplay with the vehicle. We totally stopped using carplay after the first two weeks of ownership. Carplay is someone else's grab for money. No CarPlay is a better experience while using this vehicle. GM was correct to ditch carplay in its EV line up.
Can you explain why? Every review mentions the no CarPlay function as a negative but they never say why. The Chevy has Google maps, Waze, Spotify and other apps. What is missing?
Subscription services. If they can charge 15 a month times 100000 units. That’s big money for the manufacturers at 1.5 mil. Ford is doing with certain features on the Lightning. I can only see this going bad in the future when they can start controlling us and when you can charge, and when you cannot based on your carbon footprint.
I knew this was going to be a biased review as soon as she said, "just an EV with a couple party tricks or a TRUCKKK!". She complained that the Chevy is "nearly 20 feet long" but failed to mention the F150 is the same length! Likes Supercruise but says she would never use it while towing which it is rated for. She talked all about the F150 60-0 braking distance but failed to mention the Chevy 60-0 braking is quicker despite this huge weight difference. Giving the F150 the win on price because the Chevy RST is their most expensive top of the line model versus the Lariat which is not. Why not compare equally classed models? For me, it is all about storage space and range. The Chevy has a bigger bed than the Ford and that's not even taking into account the midgate. The range is light years further which means towing range will be light years further.
You can’t haul a kayak in an F150??? lol. I am truly mystified by that claim. Great video despite a few inaccuracies. Why not share the downside of the ridiculous midgate in the Silverado? Did you notice excess road noise from the midgate? Rattling and squeaking? Other reviewers have all mentioned these. What about the lost under seat storage space with the midgate design? What about the fact that GM tried to convince truck buyers once before of the brilliance of the midgate design and what happened there?? I know at least three guys that own/owned Avalanches and none of them have ever used that ridiculous waste of R&D dollars.
Definitely a gimmick. I test drove a Denali and As you mentioned, you definitely can hear the difference in the cabin compared to the silent lightning. But losing the under seat storage which I use everyday for something I might use once in a blue moon is the biggest disadvantage. The other thing nobody talks about is if you get into an accident or have to make an abrupt stop when that thing is open. What happens to all the stuff, like a shovel you have placed in the bed. I'll tell you what happens, it flies into the cabin.
I haul 2 kayaks and 2 e-bikes in the bed of my Lightning. It's great for camping and using my airfryer and blender with the pro-power onboard system. Also use the seat heaters if it gets too cold outside.
@@enzop.3227 I would frame it the other way around. If you want the higher trim truck, which I would, you are forced to also take the mid-gate. So choosing the higher trim models, essentially gives you a louder, more rattle-prone, and less functional cab.
"A TRUCK that just happens to be electric" Exactly this. It's not a fashion statement, it's an F150 that's got batteries. And that's what I use to explain it to anyone who asks about mine. If it suits your use case (which it does for me!), it's amazing.
I would probably go with the smaller-wheeled and less expensive LT version of the Silverado EV. I do like the Lightning, but think it needs physical HVAC controls, at least for the temperature.
I only watch EV videos to follow the development of EV's hoping technology will bring the prices down to a level where someone like myself who isn't rich can someday afford an EV. I purchased a new truck in July for 32K but if a sub 40K EV midsize truck were available I would have purchased an EV instead. Bottom line, MAKE THEM CHEAPER! Only the wealthy purchase $100,000++++ EV's so this review is essentially worthless IMO!
Exactly! The first cell phones lasted 15mine max talking and cost over 3k in 2024 dollars! The first apple home computers cost 25-30k in 2024 dollars! It takes time and the well off early adopters buying the tech. That is absolutely KEY to growing the new market and bringing the price points down to mass market reach. By 2028 semi solid state and full solid state cells will be in mass production and shave another 300-1,000# of of ev weights. Range will improve more and charging times will come down to below 20mins on average and 10mins for 150-200miles of range. Motor tech will continue to improve, shaving more weight and improving efficiency and regeneration braking will get better along with in board brakes cutting more weight. Large single piece castings will proliferate and bring more weight savings+assemble time saving=by 2026 the think mass market Evs will reach price parity with ice!
The best ev pick up is the silverado 4WT, if you need a pick up. Then if you need an electric car with a bed, you can choose the other 2. I'm a construction worker and i bought a 4WT because 1 it's priced right 2 i can haul my big ass cargo trailer and never ever worry about range for my work day 3 ultra fast home and dc charging, for does not support 80 amps level 2 anymore. 4 ultium is a better, more modern, better implemented tech. The heat pump (specially the fan) on the silverado is wayyyyy quieter in cold weather. My neighbor bought a lightning. It's a nice truck and if you only need the bed it's great. But if you need range and towing, chevy is a no brainer. Ohh and the 4wt rides really good, and tires are not expensive for it.
For me still Ford F-150 Lightning is the best. It's more efficient, better looking and easier to use. GM solved range by just adding more batteries and that is not the solution also how many 300+ kW chargers are out there. Great video keep it up 🤟💪🤩
With the deals currently on the Lightning. You can easily get one for $45k to high $50k. Because they do qualify for the $7500 rebate...up to $80k MSRP. Which means up to Lariat qualify's. Not the Platinum though. The Silverado currently does qualify for the $7500 rebate under the same condition but doesn't have the same crazy good rebates that Ford has right now.
@andreaphillian3947 That's because there are no dealer lots for Tesla..... your can't go into a Tesla store, buy one right then and there and drive off with it hours later..... the ICE manufacturers made sure that they couldn't.
If Ford could just update the current lightning with a bigger battery and faster charging, they'd not need the whole revamped T3 or whatever it is. Personally I like the lightning back seat and flat floor space when seats folded up, for the doggo. Silverado's perk kills this option , but that is a pretty niche thing that I personally want.
Bigger battery? No thanks. 131kwh is plenty enough and more battery means a much heavier vehicle. Because if you ever go on a road trip or are one of those that cannot charge at home, you're spending more on charging than you would with gas. Prices for EV charging can be anyways from high .30 to mid .50 and sometime higher. If both EV and ICE equivalent full sized trucks go 300 miles on the Interstate going 70mph then refuel/recharge. The fuel price would need to be above $3.50 and the eletricity needs to be below .50 to beat the ICE truck that can easily get 20mpg and thats with a V8, a V6 would get mid 20s easily. 5 minutes to fuel an ICE vs 45+ minutes with the EV.....and the bigger the battery, the longer it will take. Because there aren't that many 350kwh chargers out there.
@joshualewis393 - bigger battery, bigger payload area, faster charging battery, more electric outlets that send more juice to the outlets and 4 wheel steering, than maybe Ford might have my interest.
@daviddill5227 Payload it with the mid gate down and the outside air blowing in plus you lose the 2 back seats. But the Lightning has more overall weight capacity. More outlets? Cool. But when it comes to it, all I need is one to provide power to my house since that's what I'm going to use it for. There is no way anyone will use all those outlets on a regular basis. Bigger battery? Meh. Just more mass and more you'll have to pay at the charging station. Charging faster? Only if you can find the 350kwh stations. At home, they are all going to charge at the same speed, but it'll take the Silverado longer because of they bigger battery. 4 wheel steering is cool but it's old tech that is coming back. I can live without it.
@joshualewis393 - the midgate down can be closed by using the cover over the bed of the truck. It keeps the outside air out. Regardless of the time of year so it's both dry and comfortable in whatever situation you use the bed in.
As a lightning owner, I cannot believe how you scored high on the F1 50s infotainment system. It doesn’t deserve more than four out of 10. Climate control is a big failure, it never connects with my phone, constantly breaks and gets confused, starts playing radio out of nowhere, etc. etc. Having said that rest of the features, I agree it’s a good truck.
Im a chevy guy. I wish the chevy had more sidewall on the tires and smaller rims. I also wish it had CarPlay. Then it would be perfect if it cost $30k less and could charge at Tesla stations.
The Lightning has a bit more balance. The Silverado has a much larger battery meaning even though it charges faster, the actual public charge times are about the same from 10%-80%. The Silverado just puts in more electrons. And with 205 kWh @ about 50 cents per kW, that means $100 plus charging stops. I feel like if you use your truck for more all around driving The Lightning is going to tick more boxes. I mean, 345 miles is really good range for that size of vehicle. I'd only go with the Silverado if I regularly towed.
I think you're spot on. The Silverado's biggest advantage is towing long distances. It's probably also advantageous if you live someplace really cold with long distances between chargers, like out West. But for daily driving around town, the cheaper Lightning seems like a better value.
I think of the Silverado as the road trip EV truck. Bigger battery means it's more convenient for towing. Fewer and shorter charge stops... Just a dang mystery why they put the charge port on the rear of the vehicle; You have to detach any trailer before charging. It's a small mistake but has a big impact. In a 1000 mile race between the two, the Silverado will win, but not by near as much as it should given the hardware advantages and the hefty price tag.
@@omgBenton: "Just a dang mystery why they put the charge port on the rear of the vehicle; You have to detach any trailer before charging. It's a small mistake but has a big impact." *100% Agree. The ideal place for it to be is on the front passenger side as it makes charging while towing easier, can use Tesla stations without taking up two spots and one can curbside charge without having the handle hanging out in the street. And some how the Nissan Ariya is one of the only vehicles to have the port there, seems so obvious.*
As a former Chevy Avalanche owner I was intrigued by the inclusion of the midgate. I used mine often and miss it. However the Avy had a hard (but removable) bed cover. Allowed me to haul 8ft lumber in any kind of weather. The Silverado's design make it pretty useless in anyplace other than Southern California. My '23 Lariat is the best vehicle I've ever owned and more fun than any other, including any of my three Corvettes (a '65, a '78,and an '85. It will smoke all three!) Totally agree with her, the lack of android auto/car play is a show stopper. I wouldn't trust GM to keep up with technology in the future.
A block of concrete…with a large enough battery gets AMAZING range. These companies think that the necessary supplies to make these vehicles is never ending. Focus on efficiency in every way.
Or get the GMC Sierra EV Denali if you want a quieter interior (acoustic glass) and nicer interior than both of these trucks being reviewed. Not to mention the larger infotainment screen. It also felt like the air suspension was tuned for better road manners and handling. Either way, drive both. GMC and Chevy EVs are no longer the clones they used to be.
I test drove both of them, the cybertruck and the lightning. The lightning by far has the smoothest and quietest ride. The Denali is also priced out of this stratosphere. The advantage of air suspension is the ability to raise and lower the suspension but it does come at a cost of comfort. Just depends on what you prefer. I like your advice of test driving both, but I would add, do your self a favour and also test drive a lightning.
@darpompie4354 Agreed to test drive many vehicles. The lightning has a slightly better ride overall, but not enough to offset the lower range and charging speeds. The Sierra EV has a nicer interior, much better quality materials, rear wheel steer (huge benefit), and a Midgate (eh..). Yeah, it costs a lot more, but you get a lot more. Factor in thousands in discounts, 0% offers, and huge battery back that's the equivalent of 15 Tesla power walls, and it's almost a bargain. Almost. Hah. Still, if you can make the numbers work, it's a hell of an EV truck.
@@GotronFerret All of the EV trucks are impressive and I'm pretty sure most will be happy no matter what they get. I did a ton of testing and research before buying. I was going in thinking I was getting a Denali and ended up with A platinum lightning (Fords highest trim which has even better materials then what is shown here). I run a construction company and we treat our trucks hard, so body over fully boxed frame that is found in the lightning was a really big factor. We rarely travel over 100 miles a day so the heavier weight and inefficiency was actually a negative for us. Midgate was noisy and would never be used. It also causes you to lose your under seat storage which we do always use. Charging speed is the same at home or office where it is charged 99.9% of the time. I disagree with your opinion that the Denali has better materials over a platinum lightning. No CarPlay was also a big killer. The frunk where we store and charge our tools was almost 50% smaller in the Denali. The only thing I liked better was the rear steering but in reality, you only gain a couple of feet on a full 180 turn. Then there's price. After negotiating best pice with both, I got the Platinum lighting for 30% less than a Denali.
One major drawback with the new solid-state batteries, is the swelling of the battery during charging and ultimately the degradation of the cell after extensive recharging, however lithium is a very toxic metal for the environment, not many countries want to mine it, 98% of lithium is not recycled and goes in to land fills or dumps, causing even worst toxins in peoples water canals, it is way cheaper to mine lithium than recycle it , as people have been blind sided by the truth about the horrible environmental damage and have been fooled into this clean technology myth, the huge amount of lithium used to make just one lithium car is not sustainable for all cars, lithium is a water guzzling toxic metal, it takes 1000 gallons of clean water turned very toxic just to mine or build one lithium car(just one)this is just lithium and not including cobalt which is another of many other real toxic metals in the build of a lithium toxic car (horrible) on top of this, most lithium cars are still connected to the oil and coal grids! clean EV car, Not!
@@darpompie4354 If you don't use the midgate, you do still have under seat storage. I haven't' had noises with mine, but it is a future concern. Especially since I doubt I'll ever actually use it. Rear-wheel steering helps at all speeds and allows me to park in my garage (at an angle) far easier, more so than even a mid-size truck/SUV. Efficiency will always go to the lighter vehicle, but it's not far off, especially vs the platinum. Fair trade off for considerably more real-world range in the GM, as I we do take multiple road trips a year. The Lightning Platinum would make things more comparable in terms of material quality. But the Platinum does *look* nicer since GM loves their all black interiors. Which is a shame as it they really did step it up. No creaking from cheap plastics, which I do notice in virtually all other Ford/GM/Toyota/RAM trucks (especially higher trims). But yeah, with price being a top priority, hard to argue against the lightning. Everybody has different priorities. They're both great at whey they do. Enjoy your truck. ;)
Weight is a factor of wear n tear… suspension, tires (making even MORE particulate pollution) and braking down of roads. We need to be thinking lighter
@@TroySavarythat’s simply not true the second half of your statement. Where are you pulling the numbers that we can verify your statement from? Negligible? Shall I post the numbers? Like you can’t just come on the internet where what you say can be easily verified or not and just make up numbers…
The 205kw/hr battery is 7-10 times as large as an early EV, it is a massive 4 alarm fire on tires, it is a threat to national security to have that thing connected to the internet and sitting in a residential area, if a government can make pagers blow up what could they do with one of these trucks?
@hendo337 The pagers that blew up had explosives installed during the manufacturing and were slipped into Hezbollah 's supply chain. Israel didn't just remotely explode the batteries in random pagers. They were actual bombs disguised as pagers. Nobody is going to be making Silverados explode remotely.
Making battery electric vehicles are good and all, but all I want is for US manufacturers to finally consistently design proper taillights with separate running, brake, and amber turn signals. No more all-red taillights with combination lamps like it's 1930!
Agreed. This is due to FMVSS and rear light specifications being so open to interpretation. I don't know what the change control process is but FMVSS should be more specific and in-line with you commentary.

You may end up changing your mind.
Not only does the Silverado not have CarPlay or Android Auto support. You cannot play high quality audio out of your phone through the truck's speaker system, since there is also no USB audio support. So only highly compressed Bluetooth audio can be played from the phone. Plus there is no Apple Music app available on the Silverado as of yet.
I have apple CarPlay in my 21 GMC Sierra and my wife has a 24 Equinox EV. I don’t miss the car play and actually like the google system and think it integrates well with the car. I’m going to order a 25 Silverado EV LT in a couple of months and I won’t miss the 8” screen on that truck. Lol I’ll be towing a 24’ RV around and I think it’ll do the trick and currently is the best truck for towing
Get the truck that suit your needs is pretty much it, some people will rank certain categories higher or lower in the vehicle comparison in this video. To me the RST is better because of my wants and needs, but it's a lot of truck if you don't need certain features.
I bought the Blazer EV 2 months ago... drove it for a month and traded it back in. The TECH in it is too much.. no independence My phone was basically useless... you had to open accounts , add your accounts , it knew too much about me. I asked Google if it was listening to my conversation, and it basically said, "google listens for marketing purposes." No! Great SUV EV .... but too much technology . I went back and traded back for my 2020 Chevy Bolt... Which only has 17k miles.
The mid gate thing assumes you're never driving anywhere where it is dusty, dirty, or rainy, as with that space open to the cab, driving on roads in those conditions, the cab will fill with dust/dirt/mist from the elements. That is a short trip, sunny day, pavement solution
Not entirely true. If you have the tonneau cover with the tailgate closed it's water tight even with the mid gate open. So if it's something you plan to use regularly that extra for the cover would definitely be worth it.
No car play, no purchase. I love car play in my Bolt, it works, it’s simple. Honda was smart and have it in the Blazer clone the Prologue(Smart) GM thinks they’re going to get subscription fees for janky apps and services. Not going to happen in this house.
A fully reclining seat so people can nap while they’re charging…sure, possible. Most charging is done at home, while the vehicle is parked and unused. I suppose if the seat is more comfortable than a bed, sure, sleep in the truck. Most will prefer to let the vehicle recharge while they’re doing normal life stuff and the truck is garaged, or at least parked in a driveway and recharging. There are some exceptions like road trips and if you’re living in the truck.
Now think about it Ford: 1 If you ditch the gimmick shifter, for a column selector (who's shifting in an ev anyways?) you have additional space and you can still fold down the workpad 2. just keep the damn physical buttons and the horizontal screen (up until xlt trim the lightning is more practical with the "standard" F150 interior 3. You now it's 2025 already right? Don't need extra mass, but an 800v architecture and about 300 kw charging is not impossible (blinks at the competition) 4, 6,5 feet bed option? Is that so complicated?
No one ever talks about the rear seats the size and the comfort for passengers in the Chevy EV as for the Ford it’s the same as any other Ford F150 very comfortable lots of room
I literally bought a Lightning instead of waiting for the Sierra EV Denali to come out because of the CarPlay issue. I use Siri all the time for answering text messages, and I use Apple Music and Apple Maps as well. This is one of the dumbest decisions I’ve seen a manufacturer make. They can say they want a more “seamless user experience” but they really just want your data and don’t want Apple offering something for free that they can charge for in the future.
weight has nothing to do with stopping distance, its just tire hardness, sometimes harder on oem truck tires. look up consumner reports etc 0-60 for anything from corollas miatas to chevy 2500s etc. other than some wonky corvette with a wing or a panel van with abs and a massive box dragging air the distances are all more or less the same. theyre abs brakes not air brakes.
Great video! Yes I would go with the Lightning also. I said would, as even at 75k is way too much for a pickup truck. Non sense to put 100k for a Silverado, come on GM. GM was supposed to release a 45k WT Variant of this EV, not seeing that coming soon. They found a way to screw it again. Also 9000 pounds. These heavy vehicules will destroy our infrastructures in no time.
In the "glaring omissions for actual USERS of trucks, there's these: 1) when you fold down that Silverado midgate, do you give up on air-conditioning, and accept road-dust and rain into your life for the delivery trip? 2) Other than (maybe) specialty-manufactured truck-racks, I've not seen anything that would work on beds with back-sloped sides (eg the not-really-a-truck Honda Ridgeline.) 3) Price points for both: how did we get to the point where a vehicle built to move materials and people is going to require multi-year financing akin to a MORTGAGE?
20 gm vehicles over the last 24 years and since 2016 no android auto no car that's a deal breaker. That was the whole reason I bought the 2016 Silverado when I did.
I have a 23 Lightning Pro with the big battery. I gave up on a lot of foo foo frilly bs, based on my actual (no incentive included) price, I could buy another Lightning Pro standard battery. If I was towing big miles then maybe I’d reconsider, well actually I wouldn’t. I’d still buy the same Pro for daily driving AND a used Ram Cummins to do my long towing and I’d still have money left over to maybe buy a new side by side.
When reviewers are clueless on SilveradoEV looks saying it doesn't look like the Silverado truck lineup is pure ignorance and talks about efficiency and large battery of the SilveradoEV when it's able to achieve what it promises while reviewing other BEVs that are supposedly efficient but never achieve its rated range is the dumbest thing ever especially for a truck
Hunny… math… they’re talking about math 😅. Meaning the math doesn’t math well even if it does 400 plus miles, it needs a 205 kw battery to do it and weighs over 9000 pounds, that’s not efficient. Honestly you are alone mostly on that. There’s so many surveys and people really do shop with that feature in mind. I’m basing this off of quite a few customer surveys.
GM has already shown that they will use individual driving practices as a revenue stream by selling that information to data brokers and insurance companies for profit. Why a physical dial for the lights? That’s one more thing for the operator to do, a whole bunch more parts for the OEM to pay for, more vehicle assembly time, another part to potentially replacing, and more the consumer gets to pay for. Why do we want things that are bad for us?

The super heavy Chevy Silverado EV brakes faster 60-0 than a Ford F-150 Lightning. What would you rather have? 0.2 seconds faster 0-60 or 12 feet sooner braking 60-0?
Chevy is giving you 70+ kWh of battery more than Ford and Edmunds is acting like there is no value in that. Imagine how much 70kwh power wall would cost you for your home. Now consider this truck comes with 212 kWh. Come on Edmunds, you are better than this.
It's astonishing to me that one of the top car review channels can reach such misleading conclusions for a typical car shopper. Example: in the range and efficiency part, Edmunds says it's better to have the Chevy because of its larger battery and faster charging. That is only an advantage for road trips, and only if you can find a 350kW charger (which is super rare). This scenario covers less than 10% of all driving that people will do. In addition, due to Chevy's inefficiency, it will use more electricity, so it will cost more to run. Most viewers will not understand these details based on Edmunds saying that Chevy is less efficient. More than 90% of driving is done locally, while charging at home. In that case, Chevy only has a disadvantage (less efficiency) over the Ford.
100% when they were talking about the tech in the silverado when they talked about the rear ports that was the lightnings rear ports... Not the silverado. And cant haul a kayak. That is absolutely stupid. Put it in the bed with the tailgate up and you can easily fit 3 kayaks in the bed and tie them down. And do the same with the Chevy so you dont lose the rear seats which you will probably be using since thats why you buy a vehicle with 4 doors. The Chevy is better for long range but the lightnings value really shines when you consider there are a ton of incentives to buy one and if you get a flash it qualifies for the 7500 tax credit making it about 60k
She’s a delight to listen and watch! Great review. These two automakers have always been number 1 and 2 for trucks. It is amazing there was an opportunity for GM to take the number 1 spot with the move to EVs. Ford chose to go lean and not redo what’s not broken. Like she said, the F150 Lightning is just an electric powered F150. GM chose the very long and challenging route - did a complete do-over. It is obvious it is more advanced than the Lightning but like she said, at the end of the day, it boils down to value for money. The Lightning when compared head to head with the Silverado has features where it has an edge. The Lightning will retain its number 1 position and will do so having spent far less.
Benefits of a high capacity battery like that in the Silverado EV:
-Enables one to do more trips on cheap home/destination chargers and less on expensive fast chargers.
Just bought a lightning last week . No comparison for me , GM priced themselves above the federal tax credit and average Americans wallet .
@@edmundscars one thing to point out since i have a silverado 4wt.
The base truck do comes with android auto
The 1 pedal driving is less efficient that standard driving.
@maximel.9729 dude, your so dumb. A RT1 actually weighs more than a lightning.
That's a lifestyle vehicle though. Not an actual work truck.
If you tow, larger battery size will matter more. You range will cut in half when you tow.
if you tow, a larger battery solves nothing.
Gm is crazy for removing CarPlay
The stupidest thing is that you still have it in the work truck.
The 25 sierra and Silverado are out with the smaller battery, they were on the gmc lot when i was there this afternoon
Agreed, don't know why they compared the top of line Silverado EV versus a mid level Lariat when they could have had a much more equal comparison.

No CarPlay is a dealbreaker. But I have bias towards my Lariat Lightning Extended! 😂
The carplay is shit in the lightning.
Huge miss by GM for leaving out Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Because google and Apple wouldn’t let GM data harvest all your personal info
Isnt' the GM with Google built in the exact same as Android Auto? They get apps from the Google play store? What is the difference I don't understand?
Plus with no CarPlay support I can't simply resume a song or a podcast that I was listening to in the truck when I go out for a walk.
100% agreed. Bought a Platinum Lightning instead of waiting for the Denali EV literally because of CarPlay.
Yeah, there were a lot of questionable comparisons in this review.
Not to mention that you have to buy the highest trim to get the mid gate feature
@@enzop.3227 I would frame it the other way around. If you want the higher trim truck, which I would, you are forced to also take the mid-gate. So choosing the higher trim models, essentially gives you a louder, more rattle-prone, and less functional cab.
Have you compared the gmc sierra ev to the lightning, thanks for your video
"A TRUCK that just happens to be electric" Exactly this. It's not a fashion statement, it's an F150 that's got batteries. And that's what I use to explain it to anyone who asks about mine.
If it suits your use case (which it does for me!), it's amazing.
I would probably go with the smaller-wheeled and less expensive LT version of the Silverado EV. I do like the Lightning, but think it needs physical HVAC controls, at least for the temperature.
Do the XLT version and you get physical controls and save $$$
I honestly thought that Shaq was gonna step out of the Chevy just as soon as you said his name!
🤔 Wasn't he a genie in a movie?😂
I only watch EV videos to follow the development of EV's hoping technology will bring the prices down to a level where someone like myself who isn't rich can someday afford an EV. I purchased a new truck in July for 32K but if a sub 40K EV midsize truck were available I would have purchased an EV instead. Bottom line, MAKE THEM CHEAPER! Only the wealthy purchase $100,000++++ EV's so this review is essentially worthless IMO!
I am not sure if I would consider making 250K and 500K wealthy, just my two cents.
You can get an F150 lightnings for mid 40s right now
Remember when flat screen TVs first came out? It takes time to get prices down.
@@nikonmark37814 what new truck did you get for 32k?
The best ev pick up is the silverado 4WT, if you need a pick up.
Then if you need an electric car with a bed, you can choose the other 2.
I'm a construction worker and i bought a 4WT because
1 it's priced right
2 i can haul my big ass cargo trailer and never ever worry about range for my work day
3 ultra fast home and dc charging, for does not support 80 amps level 2 anymore.
The 4WT uses very little power for the HVAC as noted in other reviews, Edmonds reviews forgets the people that buy trucks for truck things
For me still Ford F-150 Lightning is the best. It's more efficient, better looking and easier to use.
GM solved range by just adding more batteries and that is not the solution also how many 300+ kW chargers are out there.
Great video keep it up 🤟💪🤩
I really like them both for different reasons. Great to have fun options.
Two vehicles with outrageous sticker prices. Two vehicles which will sit on dealer lots for over 15 months.
Yep, i almost got one for 20k off sticker.
But CyberTruck don’t sit on dealer lots for over 15 months ?
@andreaphillian3947 i dont care. R1t is a cool truck but lightning is better and cheaper.
@@joshualewis393which fullsize truck with a V6 gets 25 mpg (outside the chevy duramax and very unfortunately discontinued ecodiesel ram)
You forgot to mention the usb C and A ports in the center console under the armrest (down in the void) of the F150.
Im a chevy guy. I wish the chevy had more sidewall on the tires and smaller rims. I also wish it had CarPlay. Then it would be perfect if it cost $30k less and could charge at Tesla stations.
You can use voice commands to change temperature
But for daily driving around town, the cheaper Lightning seems like a better value.
.50 cents per KW? I pay .08 cents per KW level 2 home charging in Michigan.
@grizzlyman329 public charging
It's a small mistake but has a big impact."
*100% Agree.
Slay with the blush loafers! 💅🏾
Most truck owners don’t care about a little road noise lol. However, if the ride is harsh/ super stiff like a corvette- “Houston, we have a problem!”
Towing with Super Cruise is absolutely fantastic and I highly recommend it as long as you're paying attention. GM trucks are towing great with it.

No Apple CarPlay is a hard stop for me. That’s a must.
your reviews make a lot of sense and get in much info A+ approve of no sequay
I bought a Lightning Lariat. No Apple CarPlay on the Chevy and GMC was a significant factor, for me.
Semi trucks are what breaks down roads. When they weigh 60-80k lbs, the difference between EVs and ICE is negligible.

Not only does the Silverado not have CarPlay or Android Auto support.
The TECH in it is too much.. no independence
My phone was basically useless... you had to open accounts , add your accounts , it knew too much about me.

No!

“Same same, but different” 😂
With the price of the RST being 100k it's more fair to compare it to a platinum lightning, and even then the RST is 10k more.
Ford: “Drives like a dream!”.. 8.5
Chevy: “Awful to drive!!” …….8.0
Can we get a clearer grading system?
You missed the USB on The Ford inside the middle console!! Just sayin. Well on my Platinum it has it. Mid gate is cool on the General
And one more thing, I’d rather watch Emme’s reviews then anyone else in the Video on demand space!
Both prices are outrageous for what you get.
I was concerned about repair costs, insurance costs, parts availability, and the like.
I hope yall change the testers to fit each type of vehicle. Sport, luxury, offroad, trucks.
Great idea, she fits better with luxury. I could see her reviewing something more elegant.
@Icayn Shes a great reviewer/tester.
Ford with much better interior wins that category by 0.5 🤦♂️
The score weights are strange and probably non-existant. Imagine if they were using the F150 Platinum in this comparison instead.
because ford interior is the same crap material as GM, i don't understand why they say so much better, they are both cheap.
I mean she said she didn't like how Chevy drove at all, still gave it an 8 🤷♂️
Now think about it Ford:
1 If you ditch the gimmick shifter, for a column selector (who's shifting in an ev anyways?) you have additional space and you can still fold down the workpad
2. just keep the damn physical buttons and the horizontal screen (up until xlt trim the lightning is more practical with the "standard" F150 interior
3. You now it's 2025 already right? Don't need extra mass, but an 800v architecture and about 300 kw charging is not impossible (blinks at the competition)
4, 6,5 feet bed option?
@@FullTimeGT 9000lb is a lot, but 80000lb semis are what does way way more then a whole road full of EVs ever will
Glazing the f150 to the max
Of course you can haul a kayak in the F-150. You toss it in, lift the end of the kayak and close the tailgate. Boom! You have can haul a kayak.
In the "glaring omissions for actual USERS of trucks, there's these:
1) when you fold down that Silverado midgate, do you give up on air-conditioning, and accept road-dust and rain into your life for the delivery trip?
2) Other than (maybe) specialty-manufactured truck-racks, I've not seen anything that would work on beds with back-sloped sides (eg the not-really-a-truck Honda Ridgeline.)
3) Price points for both: how did we get to the point where a vehicle built to move materials and people is going to require multi-year financing akin to a MORTGAGE?
20 gm vehicles over the last 24 years and since 2016 no android auto no car that's a deal breaker. That was the whole reason I bought the 2016 Silverado when I did.
No Apple Car Play or Android Auto in the Chevy would be a complete deal breaker, WILL NOT BUY A NEW or NEWER car that does not have them.
They made the Silverado ride like a truck but it should ride like an SUV -10 points. The f-150 rides like a truck which I like. +10 points 👀
Example, when you have like a small car like a civic that will do 400 miles nearly which is less than the Silverado, does that mean the civic is less efficient more? I’m concerned you commented this 😅…
Wow you really commented this… 😅 math… bb math … go look up efficiency calculators … I mean bb google is your friend
@@LafemmebearMusic lol it's a truck like any other but keep missing the point of efficiency fearmongering when even small BEVs can't achieve its rated range is the point its poiness but ok

I have 18 Lightnings. They exceed the epa rating by 10% at 70 and 15 or so% in town
Why do they have crew cabs now that the CAFE standards don't dictate it?
What happens when you put that Kyack in the back and it rains?
The f150 lightnings 0 to 60 is faster than 4.2. I think that’s the number for the smaller battery but you’re in the bigger battery.
There are many of us that don't care at all about Apple Carplay or Android Auto. I think reviewers just want to point out issues to get any commentary back.
Honestly you are alone mostly on that. There’s so many surveys and people really do shop with that feature in mind. I’m basing this off of quite a few customer surveys.
Mostly alone, but there are some of us that prefer not to hand our lives over to Apple, which is essentially what you do when you buy an iPhone
GM has already shown that they will use individual driving practices as a revenue stream by selling that information to data brokers and insurance companies for profit.
With that known, why would you trust them with your app usage, music history, search history, and contacts lists too? They’re just going to sell all that information about you to data brokers.
@@joejenkins1966 yeah, because apples competition does not collect your data. They are innocent little angel companies that will never spy on you. Lol loosen up your tin hat kid. The fact that you can post on UA-cam means that you already gave away all your data to someone.
Nope it is an important decision to a lot of people, so that is why they mention it. GM tried to cancel my basic coverage on my 17 and got backlash from all of us and reinstated it for all the original owners. These OEMs are trying to find new revenue streams and GM’s shitty CEO explicitly said that was part of their motivation in taking away your “free” options. Lost me as a customer that day.
I was thinking about buying a Silverado but with no apple car play it is no deal.
200kW battery and cannot achieve 500miles with no load. High tech indeed. Forget trying to pull anything
F150 Lightning No Brainer
Chevy no android or apple car play, ride quality sucks with big wheels and small tires, Interior sucks, very cheap and poor quality, and way more expensive than Lightning
Wake up GM, Ford F150 is still kicking your butt even with an electric truck
Who is making these decisions, call me Mary Barra (CEO) I can help
4 tons? That’s more than two Ioniq 5s, or almost two Ioniq 5Ns [minus 300 kg per]… the one every UA-camr says is too heavy, or 1,000 lbs less than an EV 9… AND an Ioniq 5 [combined].
No, it's 9,700lbs, almost 5 tons with the driver and a few things, absolutely ridiculous and irresponsible. That is what a fully loaded 3/4-1 ton truck with a 9,900/10,000lb GVRW weighs FULLY LOADED TO IT GOVERNMENT MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE WEIGHT. It has an many batteries as 7-10 early EVs making it a 5 ton firebomb.
I bought the Ford as my first EV to give it a shot and see what it’s all about last week. I considered the Chevy but because it didn’t look like and lack of car play I said no. Also want to add a battery that big would never charge overnight at your house😂 Women bosses in the car world, I’ll never understand. 9000lbs. Should even be aloud on the road as a passenger car. The damage that thing would produce 😮
Why a physical dial for the lights? That’s one more thing for the operator to do, a whole bunch more parts for the OEM to pay for, more vehicle assembly time, another part to potentially replacing, and more the consumer gets to pay for. Why do we want things that are bad for us?
@@aaronbounds1336 because…. Some of us like not having to navigate a screen when just reaching over by touch has worked well for like a century or more. I have a Lightning Pro and have old school ‘like’ manual controls for audio, lights, and HVAC. I’ll wager a steak dinner that I can find and adjust all of those features faster and without my eyes leaving the road then either the Lariat or Silverado.
I agree and I'll be honest, I have my lights set on Auto and never touch the dial ever again.
@@timmiser I use auto but there are areas and situations, especially during daylight or where I want zero lights on that I want to over ride and I can reach and turn the knob quickly without having to look and see the screen.
Ford F 150 Lightning is Faster Than a Chevrolet Silverado EV
The super heavy Chevy Silverado EV brakes faster 60-0 than a Ford F-150 Lightning. What would you rather have? 0.2 seconds faster 0-60 or 12 feet sooner braking 60-0?
@@timmiser sorry, i'm just kidding
So what's the weight of the Ford?
Chevy is giving you 70+ kWh of battery more than Ford and Edmunds is acting like there is no value in that. Imagine how much 70kwh power wall would cost you for your home. Now consider this truck comes with 212 kWh. Come on Edmunds, you are better than this.
Two more usb c ports in the center console when you open it up
It's astonishing to me that one of the top car review channels can reach such misleading conclusions for a typical car shopper.
The Chevy will be the Tow EV of choice, since Range will be cut in half when towing, it still leaves the Chevy with respectable range.
As someone who hates the "EV look" the F150 lightning Is more my speed
Sorry, maybe it’s the old man in me, but any full-size truck over $60k is just stupid, unless it’s truly special. An electric truck isn’t special.
No Apple car play is the only reason I don’t own this truck. Every other car I own is a Chevy but now I need to look to other EV trucks. :(
OMG is Emme Hall new at Edmunds? How have I not come across her before, she's DELIGHTFUL and I love her no BS style
