Great great lesson. I need to watch this again and again to make sure I don't just chalk this up to another interesting idea. This feels much more foundational to evolving as a musician.

Jack, you’re on fire lately! Really enjoying these general tips and tricks videos to complement the more song-specific GD lessons

Yeah! That’s the whole lesson in a nutshell.
I probably should have gotten to it a little faster!

Great lesson! This definitely unlocked something for me in terms of starting a half beat early.
Another cool idea would be exploring how Jerry uses scale patterns. For example he will speed up and slow down, stop and reverse and play two patterns in a line. Also he seems to have a vast vocabulary of scale patterns to choose from and he uses them to fill space before landing on a chord tone. Always wondered where he found them all or how he came up with them.

Love this. I used to have a college professor that called it “offset”. Offsetting the starting place of your initial rhythmic idea.

Hey Jack. My friend and I are sorry we missed your office hours but we didn't know about them. He's on the west coast and I'm on the east so we can't jam in person anymore. He's a big Dead fan too. I thought it be fun for us to attend office hours together. Can you please let me know when you'll do office hours again? Thanks!
