- G’day mates! On today’s episode, let me show you how to make your front yard look amazing for Easter! 6’ (182.8cm) tall carrots and 1.5’ (45.7cm) tall rabbits are the perfect mix needed to have the most awesome Easter decorations.
Items used:
Foam Insulation Board (1 board, 4ft x 8ft, 3/4” thickness) for CARROTS
0.75-in x 4-ft x 8-ft Unfaced Polystyrene Foam Board Insulation www.lowes.com/pd/Kingspan-Ins...
FOR RABBIT: I used the 2” thick foam insulation boards by the same brand and company.
Green Feathers (2 packs, 100 feathers each pack)

Small paint brushes:

Cotton or pillow stuffing (for rabbit body and rabbit tails)
You may also use leaves, grass clippings stuffed animals or old pillows to fill the burlap bags.
You can use any material to fill the burlap bags. I used pillow stuffing and dried leaves from the backyard to fill them up.
Other items needed:
Utility knife with sharp blade
Jigsaw
Hearing protection and eye protection
Tarp (for when painting)
Hot glue and glue gun
Drill bit or metal pick (for making holes into stalks)
2 bags of mulch (any color)
Paint Used:
Dark Green Paint (for stalks)
Orange paint (for carrots)
White flat exterior paint (for rabbit feet)
Light pink paint (for rabbit feet)
Brown Paint (for carrot details)
Black Paint (for carrot details)

Working on my Easter decorations now before I have major surgery early February!! Can’t wait to display it!! 🐰 🥕 This is too freaking cute!! Even my husband liked it! Keep my DIY projects coming! After I’m healed from surgery, I’ll start working on the Halloween decorations!!
And lol at you saying, “I’m not an artist”. I am a formally trained artist and my friend YOU most certainly are an artist! Artists come in all different forms. Interior decorating is an art, photography is an art, sculpting (like giant pumpkins from foam) is an art! You most certainly are artistic which would then make you an artist! Drawing and painting are only 2 forms of art. There are many more and you certainly are talented.

Glad you loved it! The only thing o would change is use thicker board! This one was rather thin for the peeps so some broke in the wind. Use 1 or 2in insulation foam board
I think if you use a latex primer or a white it will get rid of the letters because they’re usually thicker and cover much better. Then you will probably only need one coat of the orange. Reds, yellows & oranges usually don’t have good solid pigments and therefore usually don’t cover as good. That goes for any paints, nail polish, spray paint, house paint or even acrylic paint. Laying down a coat of white will really bring the pigment out and will prevent you from Having to do multiple coats to get good coverage. Yup Hope that helps anyone who doesn’t have much experience with paint.
Anyway another awesome job! What a cool idea. Even with the mulch. That’s a great idea to use even with Halloween. I am going to think about using it next year to maybe make one of my graves look like it’s freshly dug!

Okay, the initial set up was great, but then the wind is causing strain on the 2-hole strap and foam and comes apart. Is there another way you’d recommend attaching them instead of glue gun? TIA
Yes there is! In fact the 2 hole strap method isn’t the best. This was my first build and it wasn’t the best in terms of keeping it standing during windy conditions. Now I use the PVC & expanding foam method. If you forward to the end of both my penguin and my shamrock videos, you’ll see how I do pvc and expanding foam. I’m linking both videos below. Also, to make it sturdier, I would upgrade the foam board and use 1” or 2” insulation foam board . It’s sturdier yet a bit more money.

Is the peach paint you used for the feet pads an exterior paint sample??
No, all paint samples sold by Lowe’s are interior paint samples but I have found that since my projects only stay outside for about a month, it works perfectly fine and I’ve never had any issues with using interior paint on exterior projects that are outside temporarily
