I went to Tech School there from Sep 71 to Jul 72. Studied AC&W Radar Repair. Stayed in the Triangle area my entire stay. Had some very good times there.
Everything I remember from Kessler in the early 80's is gone after Katrina. The confinement facility and SP Hq's ( old and new) were wooden WW2 buildings. My wife was still in the old wooden women's barracks by the gate leading out to Judge Sekol Drive.there were a lot if them used as offices near the shoppers. The triangle was a fun place to work. It was a nice base to be permanent party. Lots of bars, Poppas, the Biloxi Beach Motor Inn, Mary Mahoneys, just a lot of fun.
I attended Radio Operator Tech School in 1951-1952. . I graduated in 1952 and went on to South Korea and operated a ground to ground CW network at K-6.
I attended basic electronic school for 23 weeks during 1954-55 and then on to "sets" course of 16 weeks learning all about the AN/CPN-4 Radar unit shown at 4:15 in the video. Later went back for advanced training on the same unit and for my seven level training. Good times at Keesler. Lived in the old barracks, man what memories.
I was in Kessler for 50 weeks in 1967 for computer repair school. The 3407 student squadron . Also on the drill team for the squad. We had a great time with great trainers and good men of the United States Air Force.
I was there for Wideband Communication Specialist. I went to electronics tech school out of basic training, then I stayed there to get my 5 level (advance training). So I was there almost a year in 1985.
Mar 1st 1974 till week before Christmas. ATC radar maintenance. Triangle buildings were basic, indestructible concrete with asbestos tile to keep polished. They were air conditioned though and the chow hall had awesome food.
You are correct, Joe. I was in Tech School at Keesler from Aug 67 to Feb 68. Lived in the Triangle Area. My dorm was close to the runway. I remember those T-28s flying.
My first husband Don (1951-2016) talked often of that place, I met him in Italy where he was serving in the early 70's. His name was Donald E.Ellinwood if anyone got to know him, he must have been there in 1969. He was from Ohio, a great guy.I am now back in Italy. I wonder if anyone can get a graduation photo of him for me...
I was there and also got recruited from my printing job to do sandbags before the hurricane and cleanup after. Those logs scraped us up good especially me as I was a power lifter at the time so I got one end of the heaviest logs day after day in scorching weather.
My dad attended tech school on 1958 as a Turkish officer. He went on to attend U of Mich and became an engineer. He always talked about how hot and segregated Biloxi was.
PEOPLE ACCEPTED US? I went to Keesler in Octotber 1970 and was told the base had actually invaded town(shortly before), because of some bad situations with the friendly neighbors
Was at Kessler during Camille in 1969 That hurricane forced the removal of all aircraft T-28s . We were training South Vietnamese pilots during the Vietnam War at that time.

We all went out in 1985, when Hurricane Elaina devastated Biloxi. We cut and moved trees in the road.
