I actually really like the Kill Team Roster system. Mainly, it keeps the part of my brain that must OPTIMIZE EVERYTHING under control, and I also like how the game is set up to allow you to make list building choices after you have information about your opponent and the board. I've also found it very helpful when getting friends (back) into the hobby, since I point at the list, and then point at the box, and say "all you need are these guys." But I think Kill Team is currently GWs most game-focused game, and I completely understand missing the lack of customization
@@wmcduff yeah I suppose they won't. As someone who lives in a metric country I'd still prefer inches though. They correspond with 28mm scale too well
Interesting chat. Last edition of Kill Team was an intro game for 40k for me. Basically the same rules and stats, just with single guys instead of units. Same models. I learned 40k by playing Kill Team.
Love the 2018 version.... haven't bought into this new game ... I liked making a roster and team of dudes, not taking a 40k squad .... didn't have the same feel of variety and character , and hand picked team of dudes to make up a special force for the mission vibe that the 2018 had... not to mention I had a handful of teams for the last version that were made unusable now... Starting to dip toes into OPR lately....
Re: Woods in NYC @ 52:00. Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx is just shy of 2800 acres, making it three times the size of Central Park in Manhattan. It has 13 MILES of saltwater shoreline, an improved beach, TWO full-size golf courses, several ball parks...and even so, more than half of the area of the park is undeveloped woodland, with resident deer, turkeys, coyotes, and a wide variety of smaller fauna. The more you know...
Actually, Synylrez airbrush primer works like magic as a brush-on primer. It's just the right consistency with the right stickyness and flow. I got a whole lot of samplers at Adepticon in 2019 and its very very good 🔥
Feels like it was yesterday I bought Kill Team second edition, and was like: this edition I'll finaly play a game! Well I guess not. Painted one up at least, but was kind of built for first edition. Now I've built three more for this edition, but guess they will be outdated when the new edition launch...
I just hope however they develop the rule set and/or team list building for KT24 it doesn't drastically affect existing KT kits-on-the-shelf (or in hand) or our teams built and painted. Would also like more effective flamers and possibly more ranged shooting granularity. TTFN.
I bet they will change the way current teams work - it’s how they make money. Even with Warcry 2.0, which didn’t drastically change the rules, they changed points and all that. Balancing, they say. Thanks for watching!
as a board gamer and wargamer, and as I'm sure others have mentioned, the legacy games leave you with a new board state for future games. So risk legacy can still be played, but it just has a different "starting" state to a regular risk board. To be honest, the legacy games are generally superior to their non legacy counterparts, (in my opinion) due to the narrative of a legacy game... Legacy games, generally, have an unfolding story that takes place, that your actions have a direct impact on, and so on the board. And pandemic legacy has a truly impressive (at times shocking and surprising) story. It's a bit like Mordeim vs Fantasy ;) That narrative element just increases the experience of what is otherwise a somewhat repetitive experience... :) great episode... :)
For me, I would stop playing if they moved away from the current Kill Team building system. The way that 95% of the teams are just here is the one box you need, here are your options of what to make of that box, done. It makes it super easy to collect all the main teams, and that is what makes it easy for me to invite some friends over to play. I have everything we need, they need 0 investment for us to play, I just need them to pick one of the teams I have painted and we are going to have a good time!
I would have agreed with you earlier but having the Striking Scorpions be only a third of the troops you can take...plus the Inquisitors needing another full box of minis...I am not sure about the direction they are taking. Kinda wondering if the Mandrakes are going to be only one of many troop types you will be able to take.
@@rolvirata9003 i think they test something new. The cultists as a team of 3 boxes that evolves midgame is definetly an interesting idea. Similar with the inquisition having a core fireteam and then be able to recruit fireteams from other factions. Its an interesting idea that shakes things up from "your 8-12 man squad with an generic sniper, medic, granade thrower, melee specialist etc". Many of the first bespoke teams fit into this category. Maybe we get teams where we can change an operative via cp to a completly new one. Like a blood angel marine that succumb to the black rage and loses all his firepower to attack enemys with an upgraded melee profile.
I think it will either be like 2nd edition Warcry, which is barely a new edition, or it's just going to be Seasons going forward. The Seasons thing pretty much achieves the same make everyone buy a new rulebook that is the driving force behind the new edition churn, except they get to do it every year instead of every three years.
I feel you man I just got a Russian blue , an he’s the biggest spaz an Litterally sprints around the house 3-4 hours a night midnight to 4 am an then wakes me at 6 am for play time and breakfast
I like Kill Team better as a game for specialists soldiers vs an adaption of existing 40k models. I think the game would have been better WITHOUT the Conpedium.
Lol lots of people use rattle cans in the winter where it gets cold. Squidmar in Sweden and black magic craft in canada both come to mind just from youtube. It can be done :)
I haven't played any of the new GW games that came out since the Pandemic... still managed to play OG Warcry and Old KillTeam... Excited for This Quar War! Ha, Superb Owl!!! LOL!
No chance at all that they’ll add points based team building to Kill Team. Well, not unless they split the game into two versions... competitive matched play and narrative play. They have enough problems with play balance now, with more or less fixed teams. It’s funny, some people who like Kill Team but not Warcry point to flexible team construction as the problem.
They SHOULD split the game into two versions. All their games should have a competitive and a narrative version. Highly unlikely they’ll do that, though. Thanks for watching!
I agree. Unfortunately, they told us Rex was three years old - after being with him for more than a month, we find this to not be the case. Thanks for watching!
I honestly thought they would extend the 3-year edition run to maybe 5 -- or even 7 (like D&D) through their 'seasons' books. Like, we're only on Season 2 currently. I was thinking there would be at least 3 or 4 seasons before moving to a new edition. But then again, when I think of Pariah Nexus (which I did get -- stupid me) -- it makes sense nevertheless.

Cats, they just never listen. Unless you are opening treats.
If KT just changes their shape measuring to logical ones, like a 🌙 for 2" and a hexagon for 6", that would be a start.
Would like to see it just go to inch moves like all the other games.
Or just use numbers. A tried and true system.
What's wrong with just using inches lol
@@Pihtorich It's more that I don't think GW will use numbers. Honestly, I'd prefer if they use centimeters. Most of the world is metric.
@@wmcduff yeah I suppose they won't.

Aw, I slept in and missed the live showing. I just love this show. I learn so much from casual conversation. Thank you.
Weirdest thing ever, I used to work at Kimberly Clarke briefly as a temp in the UK. Random to hear that name again!

Not going to buy a new edition. I cannot handle buying a new kill team rules and box every 3 years

Native language names are great. Perfect shibboleth traps to let you know who's not local.

That was another good stream on UA-cam. I guess I'll have to wait and see if Kill Team Third edition is worth the wait?
Have a good week.
