Christopher Walken really sells the role. On his own however the character pales in comparison to other corrupt businessmen Batman has tangled with. For example, John Daggett runs a construction firm, Rupert Thorne is a corrupt city councilman, and Simon Stagg specializes in engineering, chemicals, and genetics. Max Schreck... owns a department store. With a bit of tweaking he could be made into a formidable threat. Maybe Gotham's version of Jeff Bezos? As it currently stands, he's kind of outdated and would be out of business by today's standards.
@@jamiehartley4218 I had a feeling something was coming after Fred's hand 🤣🤣 He practically chopped off the hand of the woman who made him a "hell of a cup of coffee" 😅😅
Probably my favorite Walken role. He was so unimpressed by Selina's reveal but still couldn't figure out that Bruce was Batman. Oh, Shreck. It's sad that the character wasn't included in "Gotham".
One of my first movies watching him in. The first was "A view to a kill" in 1990 when o was 5. Then this one and the Sarah Plain and Tall movies I watched in school
i wonder if people laughed in these scenes back when the movie came in cinema...i just totally crack up the whole time. "i am a businessman, tough? yes. shrude? okay." man, walkens delivery is just so great.
Max sChreck was the guy who played the vampire Count Orlok in Nosferatu. A german silent film from 1922 and pretty much the first (and best) vampire film ever. Tim Burton is a big fan of german expresionism so he named Walken's role after Max
If I had a nickel for everytime Christopher Walken played a light haired businessman called max who was a villain in a big franchise film who is remembered greatly for his eccentric performance I’d have 2 nickels, which isn’t a lot, but worth it happened twice
Yeah same. I watched A View to a kill in 1990 when I was 5. Then this one, and later the Sarah Plain and tall movies I watched in school. So been in love with him pretty much my entire life
Walken was way too good for an original movie character. His character should've been Rupert Thorne in the film 😅😅 Just like Jack Palance in the first film, I'd have preferred him to play Carmine Falcone, not an original character.
I never got the Max Schreck thing. If you're lucky enough to cast an actor the caliber of Walken, why not have him play The Scarecrow or Two-face, as I think he could have been a natural for either of those roles.
Feels like the Max Schreck character could've easily been Harvey Dent. Truth is, Tim Burton simply wanted Returns to be a different movie from the original and so connections to that film were cut to a bare minimum.
Walken is usually the best thing in every movie he is in. But no michelle Pffeifer was amazing in this. She made me question my sexuality, where at the same time I was attracted to walken lol
See Christopher Walken did the costume right. Justin trudeau could learn alot from paying better attention. And Walken basically plays fauci. And the cuomos. He was either ahead of his time or had a time machine. Its weird he and this character are in the movie at all too. You barely have any batman in the movie because of him.
Best line ever: “And Bruce Wayne, why you dressed up like Batman?”
Cracks me up every time 😂
It's genuinely so money that there are 800 Batman villains and Tim Burton was just like what if we created this new Spooky Rich Guy
Such an underrated Batman villain. I wish he would appear in more media.
Need more cowbell.

4:18 I like Chris outfit, and even more so his hat, he was a great actor in those days and today it is a legacy to continue seeing him.
Happiest birthday 80th Ronald “Christopher” Walken ✌🏻✌️
“Power surplus Bruce......Shame on you” 😂😂

Could not agree more. I love his scenes in this movie. They are hilarious and it's 90% his delivery.
Christopher walken is such a legend
Seeing this again makes me realize that Walken is simply one of the most beautiful humans ever to exist.
He was great in this film.

That, or "Money... jewels... or a very big ball of string". That one makes me laugh out loud every time.
I was 8 years olde when I first saw this and that was my favorite line in any movie...ever 😁

CHRISTOPHER WALKEN SO AWESOME IN 1992 BATMAN RETURNS FILM !!!!
Growing up it was this and A view to a kill. Max-imum Walken

Dang, homeboi is just a killer gangsta! 😍😍
he is the real enemy in this movie
"women....nothing suprises me, chip....except your late mother"
hahahahahah.......absolutely iconic performance!
More cowbell!
When I make my own Batman series, I'll include Max Shreck as a recurring antagonist. He'll be the vain, narcissistic owner of Shreck's.
Max should have been given the HQ treatment.
The way he says Bruce WAAYYne
I love his voice
With all respects to Dune 2 this remains the best sequel Walken is in.

Yeah agreed
Walken's take on Trump is brilliant. He makes Trump's banality profound. Only Walken could do that.
Have you seen his SNL skit as the boat captain? I swear that is where Trump got his presidential debate strategy from
Beetlejuice and ceasar the exterminator.
Walken was the only good thing about this movie
