I usually turn controller vibrate off for most games but I actually love it in Helldivers. Having the controller shake when a turret or a teammate nearby you is raining hell on some bugs just feels amazing, love the immersion it creates
This is an immersion PvE shooter. While many of these settings do make the game easier it will impact your immersion. Sometimes its just better to enjoy the show then try to squeeze everything out of it.
Which of these settings actually make the game easier? FoV maybe, but that also has a tradeoff making your targets smaller so even that is down to preference and monitor type.
Thats what game are now : squeezed to the every last bit to optimize your own performance, to min max your character and your settings, to follow a certain "meta". Tryharders everywhere and it kills the fun.

An important one is to NOT use the in-game frame cap. You can test this out yourself to see if it effects you. Run the game uncapped and look at your CPU temp, just be in the ship at this time. Now turn the in-game framecap on and re-check the temps. They COULD add upwards of 10c temp to your CPU, for pretty much no reason. On a 5800x3D, running in the ship around 124 fps with no frame cap would be 8c cooler running the game capped at 90 in-game.
Vertical field of view enhancing is only good when u dont use a shield backpack (at least on ps5)because it kinda blocks your view, when using certain weapons like fpm Railgun

If there’s one thing that really pisses me off about a person or a book, it’s when they never get to the fucking point. This guy is the definition of an elaborative english essay, it’s painfully long and half of the time he’s talking it’s fluff, not worthwhile information. Here’s the version you won’t fall asleep to: FoV: he suggests you turn up to max (90). If you don’t like looking through a fisheye lens like your car’s backup camera has, don’t do this. Above 75 is generally good to do for shooter games, for eSports arenas it’ll usually be around 80. Besides that, even amongst the esports pros this is a preferential setting. Set it to what’s comfortable. Motion Blur: “Set it to zero.” For the most competitive edge possible, sure I guess. It’s not all that necessary tho. From 0 to maxed out it’s not a life changing setting in this game by any means. Coming from the esports scene in games I cannot tolerate motion blur in, it’s really not a big deal in Helldivers. You can totally live with it and perform just the same. Boils down to preference. Camera Shake: One of 3 suggestions I totally agree with, this definitely helps you out under pressure and in just seeing in general. Weak/Disabled will make it easier for you to fight and aim yo guns while facing explosions n shit. V-sync. It’s a very circumstantial feature. Some users need it, some can live without it, and others don’t notice what it does at all, because unless your PC is bottlenecking while running this game, you probably aren’t experiencing screen-tearing or pre-rendered frame latency, which means there won’t be any problems for V-sync to fix. For budget users, you might need it. Power users, probably not. Anti-aliasing. Honestly, if your computer is powerful wnough to handle it and maintain high framerates… why wouldn’t you go for anti-aliasing! It makes your game look great, and in some cases easier to see. Frame latency isn’t even an issue in this game because it’s not that competitive. Tf… Subtitles: maybe you need em, maybe you’re used to em, maybe you dislike em. They’re not in the way when they’re on your screen, and sometimes they’re kinda cheeky. I turned em off, but it’s totally a preference. Remember weapon settings: yeah this one’s good to have on unless you somehow developed habits with this disabled. You know who you are, ya freaks! The setting is per-weapon too, can’t go wrong here.
You know he doesn't know what he is talking about, when he starts by saying to put fov at maximum and create fish eye with nausea it brings, not to mention it doesn't affect the graphics in anyway lol
Vsync not cut performance. It's just fix annoying screen tearing. Another settings like shadows, blur or shake really give you some bonuses but hey, its a game!! Its made for fun!! I dont wanna look on potato)) make all settings to low on cybersports games like cs if you need add some chance to victory, but this one is PvE game!! Just take fun. Watch beautiful picture. Let your imagination think that you are inside!!
alright, so antialiasing doesn't tax a modern computer and you won't notice the performance hit. It used to be a hog like 20 years ago, but things like volumetric fog are now. anyway, I argue that when it's off, it causes stark contrasts in pixel color change that can be visually distracting. Vegetation moving in the wind is awful without AA. the approximation that AA creates leads to better peripheral vision awareness, and this is after like 10 years of deciding whether or not it's worth it.
Motion blur doesn't work like you described in modern games, anymore. Modern games tend to implement object based motion blur, which is accurate to how motion blur works in real life and how it's recorded with cinema cameras. In other words, it, in and of itself, is "eye candy" that gamers who traditionally turn it off on principle (due to past crappy executions of motion blur) are missing out on. Correctly implemented motion blur also makes lower framerates less strobey/stuttery looking. AKA it makes them more playable/bearable. The REAL one you want turned off is depth of field. THAT'S what'll make things be smeary and out of focus, especially at further distances. Ugghh, you really don't understand anti-aliasing, either. It makes jagged lines from diagonals look smoother. Doesn't at all negatively affect picture quality. DOES affect performance, but when you're specs are low enough that you have to run the render scale less than "native," you kinda need the boost is line cleanness from anti-aliasing, especially if your screen is less than 100-pixels per inch(bigger than 22" 1080p or 30" 1440p). You kinda have a point with shadows, but I thought you didn't care about "competitive play" and wanted eye candy? Nice shadows and lighting in general are, by definition, some of the most noticeable eye candy. So do you want the competitive edge against bugs and bots being unable to hide in shadows, or do you want nice visuals? Make up your mind, bruv. Lastly, the remember weapon settings thing doesn't work for the firing mode (it does work for the scope range and flashlight, though).
Lots of folks yelling at you for the length of this, but the real mistake you made was putting it in listicle format. Lists draw people because they're concise & predictable info-dumps, & combining this format with the 10 minute revenue-grab has understandably made people as mad as possible.
Turning off AA on PS5 is not good advice in this game. It looks considerably worse and you gain nothing return. PS5 Graphics mode: Performance Motion Blur: Off Depth of Field: Off FOV: At least 70 Sharpness: Max(1.00) With this, your performance will be more than fine and look good with AA on. Also, I recommend turning Heads Up Display(HUD) Scale down to about .85 or something a little lower or higher depending on what you like. I just think the default is not good in this case.
describes a FOV increase as "more immersive"... which is confusing as it's literally the opposite... as seen in horror games... mainly FOV increase is so you can see more around you which is often better in shooters but the downside is that long-range view is reduced... so it's not all roses... turns off Anti-aliasing... I mean I guess if you're on a laptop 3050 with a controller... sure... shadows off will significantly alter the look of most games.. which on a "competitive" shooter would make sense... but it's not a competitive shooter... ... anyway it's a great game so enjoy it however you like

I’ve played so much Black Ops 2 Zombies with LMGs since when I was 5-12, the only thing that catches me off guard now is adaptive triggers.
Now you just shake 🫨 cheers 😎
I usually turn controller vibrate off for most games but I actually love it in Helldivers. Having the controller shake when a turret or a teammate nearby you is raining hell on some bugs just feels amazing, love the immersion it creates
2:10 What's up guys, schizophrenia gaming here, back with another video
It shouldn't have taken 10 minutes to tell me about two settings
If you actually feeling fishbowl effects at 90 remember you actually need 59 vertical fov to achieve 90 horizontal fov.
This is an immersion PvE shooter. While many of these settings do make the game easier it will impact your immersion. Sometimes its just better to enjoy the show then try to squeeze everything out of it.
Thats what i was thinking this whole vid. That and tell me you play too much pvp without telling me you play too much pvp
@@xiuned1507
We used to tryhard single player games when we were kids and loved it. Casuals have now entered the gaming space and can't stand that some people enjoy dedication to something more than others. Or they hate that there are people who play to win or have a goal-oriented mindset. Those people have always existed.
@@ToveriJuri No we did not, the proof is right there in the old videos of PvP games. People had no idea what the fuck they were doing and were having fun
What interests me the most is how you hide the chat window?
Dud I miss a setting somewhere?
I can't seem to get rid of that.
I play mostly without hud and only check necessary things with the map button.
Thank you! That last tip was especially helpful.
Worth it, if you have not already, to upgrade your monitor to 21:9, you can get the wide field of view in most games without that fisheye camera look
Me when my essay need to be 500 words and I finished it at 200:
I needed this. Getting the game on wed as a b day gift. Can’t wait. Thanks as always
It’s worth it! Cheers 😎
@@Truds cheers 😎
It is a good game and happy birthday
@@AZ-je5tj thanks
I thiink it looks so much better with AA turned off, thank you.
I'm running the arc a770 16gb model with a ryzen 7 3700x and 32 gb Corsair doms, i have everything maxed out on 2560x 1440 and am running 130 fps average. Absolutely beautiful game.
Wow. I really need to get an extra fan for my case... I can get that FPS with the 6700XT but it goes up to 89c... Have to lock it at 60FPS just to stay below 76c
I wish this would have alot more regarding the fogs, lighting and illumination, it's hard to know what works best when the game doesn't really explain what the functions do on the battlefield.
I covered them in this video -
ua-cam.com/video/aZzE1vOVCe0/v-deo.html
Idk why everyone is in a hurry and demands shorter videos, so i wanted to let you know that your video benefited me and youre the only one I've seen mention these settings before so it does help that you explain your perspectives in detail to help me choose if i want the changes or not. Keep doing it how you want to 👍
Cheers Tim, I appreciate this 😎
If you want to make your game look cinematic and real change your fov to the lowest setting, remove crosshair, motion blur 10%, enable anti aliasing and max out graphic setting (Ultra)
Keep V-Sync on if you dont want your computer to set on fire
Bro tried as hard as possible to make this a 10 minute video lol sounds like a middle school essay trying to meet the word requirement
FOV is always a tradeoff. Setting it to a bigger number you see more of the battlefield at once, but objects at the edges of the screen get distorted and aiming is more difficult as your targets in the center are rendered smaller.
6:30 your a lovely teammate lmao
I understand that friendly fire accidents happen, but this guy didn't think twice about it. Then they complain about being kicked out for being rookies or not following the meta build.
Launch Helldivers 2
My pc: VRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
This game made me realize I need to get an extra fan for my case
Check the temps of your graphics card while playing. It may need the thermal paste replaced. (More likely to be true if you've had the card a few years)
1. Vertical Field of View to Max
2. Motion Blur to Off
3. Camera Shake to Weak or Off
4. Controller Vibration to Weak or Off
5. V-Synch to Off
6. Anti-Aliasing to Off
7. Shadow Quality to Lowest
8. Subtitles, optional
Dude i found your video to be pretty funny and didn't care it went for a bit longer than it needed it. Not sure why you have 2.5 k upvotes and 9k downvotes. A bit unfair - so take my upvote bro
It’s fun to hate apparently, but thank you for your kind words! Cheers 😎
Loved the video man really helped me alot
Guys, FOV is a very specific thing for each person. Play around with what works best for you, but still raise it about the default.
So many negative comments still helping the algorithm. Liked and subscribed 😂😂
Have to say I did the shadow thing, and hated how my ship looked. So turned that up to medium. Really made the graphics look cheap to me. Also don't remember seeing words on my screen, so thinking I dont need to mess with captions, as I've never seen one. haha.
Dude’s circling around getting to the point like divers are dodging chargers.
1:58 court marshall this helldiver, he's out there killing civies.
Great video some very useful tips for settings however I own helldivers 2 on PC and console so with the anti-aliasing it won't affect performance on console in fact it will smooth out jagged edges and I have noticed no dip in performance but may have some effect on PC depending on your PCs hardware
If I turn all these settings off, does that mean I’m gonna play like you? Cos you’re adding a lot of casualties on Super Earth’s side
This was like week 1 gameplay, Super Earth had plenty of reinforcements 🫡
@@Truds you were aiding our enemies by killing our reinforcements, therefore that is treason. I’m gonna report this, no amount of cope makes treason acceptable
Friendly fire is part of the gameplay lol
Okay mr PC master race, I think I'll keep my graphics setting enabled so that I can see this beautiful game instead of hitting 500 fps
Sir, yes sir 🫡
3050 on a laptop is anything but PC Master Race lol
Dynomo plays HD2? man of magic we are saved!
Can’t spread Managed Democracy without abit of magic to keep morale high 🫡
But real question... how do we skip the character from the rotating pod at entrance of ship??? it's so annoying sitting on that after every startup. I dont mind if youre joining a team but the fact i have to sit through and wait for my character to come out gets old and tiring.
I think a few refinements will be coming soon tbh by the dev team
Antialiasing is extra step gpu needs to do. So it does exact oposite. Turning it off makes the gpu load smaller.
why is this video getting so much hate it's a good vid snd you're just giving commentary and info people act like they can't skip if they wanted to.🤦🏽♂️
It’s just the beauty of UA-cam comments! Appreciate it 😎
How to make a ten minute video for something that could be said in less than a minute. Like honestly, this is just ten minutes of waffling
And if I did they’d be somebody saying the exact opposite of you! Unfortunately, I just tried to add abit of reasoning behind each one!
@@Truds no you blabbed on for several minutes about nothing, or simply beating a dead horse. Thats what you did... Hence all the other comments... just get to the point.
@@Trudsnah dude. You totally blabbed the whole time. This video could fit on a youtube shorts
@@Truds
The reasoning you give isn't even good. A lot of it is either preference or depends on your PC setup. And some of it is outright hilariously wrong like shadows and vibration.
@@Truds good job on liking your own comment, but every video where the creator just gets straight to the point without yapping in between, they get much praise in the comments. you have like 30 seconds of yapping before you even say which setting to change; this aint an essay you dont need a long ass linking sentence and then a topic sentence and then evidence before you get to the explanation
Great video!
Thank you.
Thank you 🙏
Vertical field of view enhancing is only good when u dont use a shield backpack (at least on ps5)because it kinda blocks your view, when using certain weapons like fpm Railgun
I have motion blur on my pc and it’s actually fine, I can easily see my enemies and I don’t miss my shots because I’m turning, also I’m mostly shooting while moving.
I have it on very low for some immersion, cheers 😎
6:33 When he killed his teammate
Arghhhhhhhhhhh 😅
People need to chill, there's a 2x option. It is an informative video to begginers to shooters, as the logic behind each setting is not thoroughly explained to newbies.
EXCEPT SUBTITLES, that shouldve been obvious.
Thanks for that 1👍
Glad to see you into Helldivers as well Truds! A great game to play while we wait for more Destiny content :)

I do the opposite of all this for max cinema mode, feels like im there spreading democracy and freedom 💪
Who actually uses Motion blur? first thing I do every time I start a new game is immediately go into the settings and turning that shit off. I HATE Motion blur. Wish they just leave motion blur off by default and just make the three people who actually use it turn it on.
TL;DR Only commenting because I find it weird your style is explanation at the segment and then the setting is halfway somewhere in its time block on the video. Solid Information but for those who need a quicker view, here are timestamps, which options, and the videos Recommendations

I hate the fishbowl, also high FOV affects your accuracy.
It does but 90 is not to the extreme here imo
@@Trudskeep in mind those of us who have never messed with fov in a game 90 is jarring and honestly kind of freaky
I’m convinced you added subtitles to make the video longer, nothing else makes sense
Maybe the anti aliasing advice is console specific but it improves image quality dramatically on PC.
You managed 10 minutes. Good for you
Shame, cut off is 8 😶
Thanks for the info.
Cheers 😎
I personally get headaches with any FOV stretching or lack of motion blur. Things look too choppy without motion blur and it gives me a headache.
Tbh it’s personal preference
Dawg killin' scientists!?. WATCH YOUR AIM, SOLDIER!
I reported myself for this slight inconvenience
Hah! I'm already using most of those settings, because I have a PC that was high end 8 years ago and I'm still only getting 28 frames!
48 inch wide monitor with 90 FOV might be pretty op for me
cutscenes? you mean the one and only at the start? did you use ai to generate this script?
Did you use ai to generate this comment?
Put screen shake on medium it’s badass
thanks for dragging out 30 seconds worth of info into more than 10 minutes
Eye candy from field of view? FOV doesn't make anything look better, it just lets you see more...
No amount of settings are going to help with your inability to see friendlies literally in front of you.
True 🫡
How come you never said to disable crossplay, so team mates stop running into your tesla tower?
If there’s one thing that really pisses me off about a person or a book, it’s when they never get to the fucking point. This guy is the definition of an elaborative english essay, it’s painfully long and half of the time he’s talking it’s fluff, not worthwhile information. Here’s the version you won’t fall asleep to:
FoV: he suggests you turn up to max (90).
Tf…
Subtitles: maybe you need em, maybe you’re used to em, maybe you dislike em.
Motion blur is good when u have a bad tv like me i have a slight overshoot so motion blur can smooth that a bit .
alright, so antialiasing doesn't tax a modern computer and you won't notice the performance hit.
PS5
Graphics mode: Performance
Motion Blur: Off
Depth of Field: Off
FOV: At least 70
Sharpness: Max(1.00)
With this, your performance will be more than fine and look good with AA on.
I mean I guess if you're on a laptop 3050 with a controller... sure... shadows off will significantly alter the look of most games.. which on a "competitive" shooter would make sense... but it's not a competitive shooter... ... anyway it's a great game so enjoy it however you like
Why am I watching a video on what to turn off while the video is ass quality ? did u turn everything off, lol. I read the TLDR, thankfully, almost useless.
