NYC Major Snow Storm (Queens, NY)- January 11th, 2011

- Another major winter storm impacted the NYC area with heavy snow, but there wasn't as much wind as our last go around back on December 26th. The official forecast for the NYC area was for 8-12 inches of snow, and the official total from my neighborhood of Middle Village/Rego Park, Queens was 8.9 inches. Points further east and northeast over Long Island and Connecticut saw much higher totals than that.
I ventured out during the pre-dawn hours and shot some video from around my neighborhood of the storm when it was at it's height! Here are the highlights. Damn Nice! These Videos remind me of the extreme winter here in Frankfurt last season. It looked exactly like in NYC there! Looking forward to this time and chaos in a couple of weeks/months! #Favorited
That's really cool. I felt like I was there. If it snowed like that here in Sacramento,Ca the whole place would shut down.
@2010ditta Thanks! As far as the snow melting, it depends. But this snow, and the snow from our late December blizzard are still very much apparent around the NYC area due to the below normal temperatures we've been experiencing for quite a while now. We're expecting a good bit of rain tomorrow however, so I expect a lot of it to melt. So glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching. Send some of that warm weather this way, lol
Another great video. How long usually does it take for all the snow to melt away, or have you still got some? We had, in South wales where I live 4 to 5 inches in December but after Xmas we had a few days of mild weather and it all disappeared and now its a balmy 10 degrees here at the moment. Very tropical..... Loved that shot of the laundromat being open.
