The sound is fine for me: my phone's audio settings include a graphic equaliser which I use to tweak the sound on poorly engineered recordings. The distortion, however, is a bit bothersome.
I admire Brueggen but this is disappointing by today’s standards. He certainly made better recordings . He was a great musician but there’s some cult of personality going on in these comments.
Maybe technically you are right. Recorder playing has developed a very high and virtuous standard now a days, thanks to Frans Brüggen. But only a few can reach his intuitive and pure musicality. And I think this still is a standard of how to play the suites on a recorder, at least I love the touch of nonchalance. He is a Master.

Dear dear Franz Brüggen we miss you.
This is from the album "17 recorders". A jewel for all recorder players.
this is the original, the first recording of the suites, thank you very much for the great contribution
One of my favourite flutists!

What a great musician! So sad that his breath is no more
Philippe Yared Ikr, he was known as the best recorder player that walked the planet. I wish I got to meet him!

aldo
🛑🌱❣️🌾😄
If the sound were any more distorted and shrieky I would shoot my computer. Buy the CD.
I would love to. Do you have a suggestion, which CD to look for (I cannot find it)?
It sounds fine to me, however I use high quality speakers (Bose) or excellent ear phones.
Eliezer Pennywhistler Agreed.

Did Bruggen perform the second and 3rd suites? If yes is it possible to post them? Thank you!
