    The longer it has been since my last meal, the harder it is for me to sleep. If i am still up at 4 am and know that my heart is struggling, my solution is to eat.

      Because your blood sugar spikes then drops just as quickly, unless you're not consuming many carbs.

      The insulin spike makes you sleepy so you my get to sleep quicker but your blood sugar will then fall and it'll wake you up!

    Here's the answer you couldn't find:
    norepinephrine
    Our body produces more of it while prolonged fasting (24+ hours.), and it keeps us awake. Mine really kicks on after 3 days.

It’s currently 1: 51 in the morning and I’ve got to get up reaal early. If I can’t sleep well tonight, I’ll at least try again tomorrow. This is going to be a long seven days.

    If you eat only dinner a day like 7pm or 8pm you will have better sleep. The first 3 days it hard but after that it gets better and also will balance your hormones. You sleep good.. i have done it for 20 days. It felt great! Don't go to bed on an empty stomach of course it will keep you awake. And also no sugar at all..

    I've been doing more or less an 18-6 pattern for 4 months with steady weight loss of about 1 pound week or more. Problem is, as others comment here, I'm lucky to get 5 hours sleep a night, and generally up by 4 am, w-i-d-e awake. I've seen elsewhere others essentially saying this is a good thing, I haven't heard of/met anyone yet who says they can sleep better til this video.

    I can't even skip breakfast !!!
    I tried, for months and months, the 16/8 IF, by skipping breakfast, no coffee nothing, just water. No matter what, I could not sleep more than 3h a night and felt like shit all the time.
    I ate breakfast again, not even thinking it could affect sleep (I had no clue it was the 16/8 that was affecting it) and since then I slept good, around 7h.
    Puzzled, I recently decided to go back to the 16/8 IF for fat loss... Barely got any sleep for days. Best night was only 4h30.
    Why is my brain so weird like that ? I keep hearing of all these people fasting as they wish and I can't even skip a meal... I envy them.

    • @BradCarr_
      @BradCarr_  5 років тому +1

      that's very interesting. Why do you think that is?

    • @1yoan3
      @1yoan3 5 років тому +1

      @@BradCarr_ It seems like my body/brain would go into overdrive from skipping a meal, like a "panic" and have cortisol/adrenaline levels way too high because of that.
      Even skipping the breakfast or delaying it, I can feel a difference in my sleep.
      I will continue to try fasts, for health reasons, but will do everything I can to reduce cortisol. I just bough a whole bottle of Potassium bicarbonate, and Magnesium citrate, and Thiamine vitamine B1, I heard they are very potent cortisol reducers.

    Not maybe but for sure is the growth hormone. As I fasted already 5 times for 2 weeks I barely got a good sleep during fasting periods which made me exhausted and not sleep good. And I learned from my research that it's mainly growth hormone and insufficient carbohydrates that do this damage to sleeping. So fasting is good and healthy if you are not working or not doing a creative job, otherwise, sleep deprivation is a major problem. Even in intermitted fasting, you need sufficient carbohydrates to sleep well and I don't agree going on a totally empty stomach would help you sleep well since you need sufficient carbohydrates to sleep well. Sleep is way important to damage it and can cause very dangerous cardiovascular complications. For that reason, I shifted my OMAD meal from 12 PM to 4 PM as one going to sleep regularly at 10PM.

    Most of one's sleep needs come from digesting and assimilating food. Particularly meat. So if you are not sleeping as much during an extended fast, this is why. I did a 7 day fast once, and by the seventh day I was sleeping one hour and feeling totally refreshed.
