    Peter is the only honest American I have ever heard on the topic of drug trafficking: *WITHOUT AMERICA'S INSATIABLE DEMAND FOR DRUGS, THERE WOULD BE NO CARTELS*

    • @drewmann856
      @drewmann856 3 місяці тому

      Ridiculous drug laws cause the cartels, not drug demand. End the drug war and the cartels will either cease to exist or become legitimate entities.

      Not just America, its global. Prohibition against vices never, ever works. Didn't work for alcohol, didn't work for weed, doesn't work for cocaine.

      @@BradCarr_ If I knew your your education, preferences and background I would be better able to make suggestions. Those things should not be exposed on the Internet, of course.
      So, first determine how effective this video has been, then aim to repeat the success or avoid the lack of, without becoming too formulaic or repetitive. Find what interests you that has accessible information that is being slighted by the usual providers.
      As for topics, this one was excellent because it was not the usual content, and you came across well. You might try analyzing other popular commentators like Beau of the Fifth Column, or people who make or star in news like Elon Musk [be careful with this one he'll sue if you spell his name wrong],Taylor Swift, or people prominent outside of the US who should be better known here.
      I hope this helps, but it is best to suit yourself.

    I keep getting PZ videos on my YT feed. Oftentimes, can't tell what is has been said before, and what is recent, even if it's a recent YT video. Some sound like I've heard it before. But this is a good video summarizing his main points.

    The lesson I take from the cartels is that when you criminalize drugs, then criminals will be in charge of drugs. Anyone remember Al Capone?

    • @RJ-kr4bs

      And when you decriminalize all drugs, you get a cesspool like Portland, Oregon.

      @@RJ-kr4bs And when you decriminalize all drugs the right way, i.e. provide treatment on demand, you get success stories like Portugal or Switzerland.

      I agree. The US attempts to legislate change without any of the peripheral support and systems necessary to make it successful. Born and lived in US. most of my life Tired of the fighting, violence,high taxes with low services, car culture. Now living in Switzerland where everything just works and the government exists to serve the people's needs.

      @@guydreamrSwitzerland is hardly a success when it comes to treating addiction

    • @guydreamr
      @guydreamr 3 місяці тому

      @@jorndoff2002 Switzerland is absolutely a success story when it comes to treating addiction. In the 1970s, Switzerland faced a serious heroin epidemic. The city center became a gathering place for heavy drug users, right alongside thriving businesses and hotels. In response, the city adopted a "four--pillar" model for drug policy: 1) Prevention; 2)Treatment - accessible treatment options for drug users, 3) Harm reduction - measures like legalized drug consumption rooms and heroin-assisted treatment facilities and 4) Law enforcement - balancing law enforcement with public health goals.
      And the results? Nothing less than remarkable. Overdoses deaths plummeted by over 50 percent. HIV infections dropped by 65 percent. Finally, new heroin users decreased by an incredible 80 percent. That's from "Inside Switzerland’s Radical Drug Policy Innovation," Stanford Social Innovation Review. So until you provide at least one citable source to the contrary, your statement is rejected.

    Have any serious geopolitics thinkers come out of the UK? There's John Gray and Andrew Lambert but they both have their niches. Scanning the guests at the ECFR, IISS, UKiaCE, etc reveals no big names. At least the aussies have a couple podcasts with a global scope.

    I disagree with Peter on South Korea. Or at least your interpretation of Peter. Demography aside, their military is very decent. I have served alongside the ROK soldiers and can personally attest to just how tough physically and how nimble they are mentally. They did trade with China, and Russia as did we.

    It is informative to hear Peter's demographic analysis. His blind faith that a unipolar world is the best outcome makes me doubt some of his conclusions though. Empires built on unsustainable debt are likely to eventually meet a difficult fate. We are entering a time of global economic and political instability. As the empire recklessly tries to assert control of the world, I wonder what the ultimate cost to everyone will be. This is not what a peaceful, prosperous future looks like.
