- Hey peeps this is a brief video with information for those who are wondering if their a class has android auto and Apple Air play and also some information on the Mercedes me app. If you have further questions regarding Mercedes benz a class 2016 model and up please send me your questions and I will gladly go to my local Mercedes garage and ask for you as it is local to me. I dont have command but my android auto works.
3 things you do .
1. Download android auto
2. Join your Bluetooth to telephone.
3. Connect the usb c into your phone .
Form your phone force android auto from your settings . Type android auto into your search in settings . It’s should force it on.
Yep that's the method but only works if you have android auto available. Some models come with it preset some don't but has the capability which can be set with a odb
Wow finally got it...thanks for this video. After meny tries I must understand that my mercedes 2017 don't have a android app. Blotooth ok but that's it. I love my car 🚙 ❤️
When you send a map location to your Mercedes its sent to the Mercedes Me server.
Just to the Tel/internet settings
Options
Manage internet divice
Contact your bluetooth phone
On your phone in settings
Connections
enable bluetooth Tethering
Command unit
goto Tel/internet
Select internet
After successful page downloads
Goto
Mercedes Downloads
Your map address will apair here from the sever
Click on address
Navigate to
The map will start routing directly you can now navigate and save address
All routes can now be found in the Mercedes navigation
No need to program the Mercedes unit ever again
After route

yes this is true but you can also do this by simply entereing the address manually and adding it to the list of routes yourself too. takes less time to do that . believe me ive tried.

I have 16 plate and can get apple
Car play if I connect to the usb in the hand test. Is there a way to use it wirelessly? Or does it always have to be connected to usb cable?
Unfortunetly you wouldn't be able to use it wirelesly unless you buy a third party android ready monitor. Which I have bought for my c class and I will soon make a video on it.

Hi thanks for the video, i have a mercedes class A200d (2016) i bought the odb machine to activate android auto. And I did it successfully, the icon of android auto now appears. However, when I connect my samsung with the cable it doesn't work i havent tried yet apple car because i dont have an iphone. 😅
What to do to make it works with android auto ? Thank youu
The main issue which I found out is that android auto doesn't work as well. As car play. What I did was buy a cheap iPhone 6 and just left that connected so when I get in the car it's Alreadyset up.

Loool unfortunately it's not possible. I've looked at every option to bypass but the only method of bypass is through the actual dealership which isn't free either sorry buddy

yes you can use it for bluetooth music and any media choice.
I have a 2015 a class, with small screen and it doesn’t have CarPlay. Is there a way to get it??
First thing to see is if you have the USB input I your arm rest. And then if you do which is a image of 2 screens side by side. Then it's possible.
I bought a GLC recently from a local dealer in India. The dealer promised to have the Navigation added on the cost of the car. When the car was delivered, the dealer told me that the Navigation could not be uploaded since my car came without a SD card slot. So they are trying to compensate this with some other accessories. But I would actually love it if my car had Navigation. I can see the navigation button is inactive. I have 2 USB slots. The least I would like is to have Android mirroring. Is this possible at all? Thanks
Prasad K N GLC is the newest concept of Mercedes so I don't see why it wouldn't have any sd slot for navigation. If possible send me a video of your car comand system and check inside the glove box or where the USB slots are for the memory card slot. I'll try and see of I can find a way to help. Alternatively you can by a odb device that connects to your car to give you android auto or apple car play. Email me a video to Uzunsai@gmail.com

unfortunetly its not ideal to get command connect me as the hardware in the car because mercedes told me if i asked them to install the actual hardware it would cost £3000 which i am not willing to pay for a simple feature. best way to do it is try a mechanic to use a diagnostics tool to enable the software. i will post a video soon of this method
I have a 2016 GLA45 AMG with an OEM 8” screen which uses a USB connection for CarPlay. My screen which was working perfectly is now black and I can only get radio and phone via the central cluster. Have you got any suggestions for rebooting my screen please.
The easiest way is to take it to Mercedes and tell them there is a fault with the system and that it is recent and sudden. They will have a quick solution to it
Hi mate, I own a 2016 A Class 180D. My car has CarPlay but not Andriod Auto. Do you think using that NTG5S1 ODB tool can install Andriod Auto?
If it has car play then it should have android auto but if not. Yes the odb tool will work however depending on the software from what I'm aware of its just the old model andoid phones that work. Alternatively you can buy the new display screen with android software already installed.
Mine is the new shape but 65 plate, so end of 2015 does it count as the category of 2016 and above
The obd connection tool to activate it is from 2015 so should be fine if you do it that way.

I've got android auto on my A class 2016 (180D) but it's unresponsive whereas apple carplay works perfectly fine. Appreciate any help!!
Unfortunetly the early models of the a class and other Mercedes cars unless it was pre loaded a third party upload doesn't work as well as apple car play. If it was pre loaded then its to do with the android settings and also an app through Google play for android auto is what's needed.

If you search on eBay type in Mercedes and your cars model number and year with odb apple car play install it should come up. Or on Google

so the problem me and you are facing is although all mercs now days have this function back in 15 and 16 models they didnt have it unless you had the premium plus package so there for it doesnt have it on there. bluetooth is only useful for media playback and calls.
My car has the option for CarPlay on tel but when I plug my phone in it doesn’t work. In either of the USB slots in the armrest. I’ve tried different cables but nothing has worked, any advice?
Was it a part of the package when you bought the car. Or was it installed via obd after sales. This is the main thing that makes the difference.
@@MrOneTech Not had the car from new and got it used from a non franchised place so I can’t tell, it’s definitely on the screen in Tel. Is it only supposed to work through one of the USB ports or does it sound like I may have a problem with my car?
Great video, so helpful. I have mercedes a class 2016 but it does show Android auto on the media screen so thats good, but I'm still struggling to connect. My phone is a Samsung galaxy note 10 plus, so I'm not sure what the problem is ?
Main question is. If you bought the car second hand then that means someone previously tried using the obd connection method to show android auto on there however the newer phones of android don't work as the software is for older models. So you won't have much luck. Unfortunetly with new phones.

Hello I have a gla (x156) 9/2017 and I don't see CarPlay on the display. The Mercedes team says the car doesn’t have the right implementation for CarPlay. Assuming that I connected the car to Mercedes me app. I would like to know if there is a possibility to enable CarPlay via obd. And I would like to know how I find on the ship system the destinations I send from iPhone via mercede me app. Because if I go to tel/internet >download Then the system finds nothing and after a few seconds the screen turns off and restarts. Thank you for your help.
So Mercedes will tell you this, however I used a obd plug that has android and apple car play on it and you plug it in and it activates it which proves to me that Mercedes chat crap for the sake of making you spend more money with them. But the adapter does work.

I installed the obd on the mercedes w176 of 2016 the screen shows android auto and Apple car but when I press the button on android auto it does not open (Apple car opens normally), I entered the engineering settings and saw that it only has Apple car play usb not it shows me android auto drives. Is there a way to get android auto working as well?
firstly how did you get into the engineering settings? which obd did you use, usually in the "tel" button when you click it again you see options for internet apple car-play and android auto . if this shows up then its a matter of plugging in your phone via usb in the centre console into the monitor looking logo slot

You'll need to first see if you have the USB input that shows a little screen as the logo if you do then it's compatible. If not then the only thing you can do is buy a android based screen to replace the current one with.

Yes you can. You need to buy a odb device which will activate it. Google " odb Mercedes android auto" and some devices will come up
I have a 2017 A class with car play compatible using a USB. But it is pixilated. I have changed the lead and updated my phones software but still pixilated any ideas?
You need a firmware update on the car play due to it being a older model it cannot carry the new phones specs. If you connected an older phone it would work but due to new phones having better software and faster and newer it will cause pixilation.

the only way to know that is by clicking on your "Tel" button twice where on the screen youll see other options like internet and then if you see apply car play and andriod auto option then your car is compatible if it doesnt then you dont im affraid .
I have a 2017 A class A200D AMG premium plus... any idea how i get engineer mode up? Ive tried hitting hang up button 1 and star or hash cant remember cant get menu up atall... ALSO. is it possible to get video in motion on it?
believe me if i can find that mode myself i will unfortunetly from 2016 onwards they deactivated that function so we are not able to get that mode. its the downfall but my brother in law does car diagnostics and just bought a new tool to manually do it so if it works ill be posting a video of that up.

Firstly in your arm rest compartmement you need to see if you have the input for usb for this method. If you do then you need to go to the telephone option and press it again to see the options for Android auto or carplay.

Android auto should also be visible in the telephone option on the screen. If not you'll need a obd device to activate it.

Hi the main thing to do is download android auto app from the app store and then connect via wire to the tablet output USB which is indicated with a logo then when you click the phone button on the screen and then again it should give you options to choose which device to connect to.

The newer obd adapter if bought from ebay should work. Alternatively contact Mercedes and tell them that you have been informed that most of these cars are already pre loaded with it and it just needs a activation code if they say no its not possible state that on youtube it's been shown.

You'll know if it has connect me by downloading the Mercedes me app and see what things you have but most cases any model above 16 plate has it.
Hi there, so can I enable my 2014 A200 with the ODB tool if it has version NTG 4.5? I want Android wireless - or wired.
It will only work wired. But you can enable it with the odb tool if you have the usb port that shows a screen which is for the unit.
Anybody here feels the voice command on benz (A180) is actually quite slow.. 😫
Yes it's slow and anoying. Best way around that is to connect your phone via Blue tooth and use your phones command through your cars mic and speakers

I found out that android auto isn't fully functioning on these odb devices.
Also download a app called android auto from Google play store and also allow mirroring.

The year of the model doesn't matter its based on what extras your vehicle has. Mine like yours didn't. But I found a solution to get it activated without changing any parts.

Yes I agree it should but that's Mercedes trying to make you spend more money on the extras. That's why I'm planning to upgrade to the new android display its bigger and its easy instalation but costs like £500 🙄
I have a cla250 2018 it has appl car play but no android auto.
most commonly android auto isnt supported by all cars, as apply car play is more known that is what most car manufacturers lean towards. mainly becuase with apple products theres less ways of tampering with the device. for example android devices can be rooted to be able to play back video like youtube and so on through android auto so for this reason some cars hold back from having it on there. its common issue. but i think if you contact mercedes and tell them this issue they should give you a solution.
Bullsh*t you can easy unlock android Auto. You just need the ntg5.1 Audio 20 and put in a unlock device. Takes 10 seconds to do it
I'm only explaining what mercdes told me. Howerever I'm aware that with a odb reader device you are able to unlock it which is what I did.

Drasko Popovic two ways one when you click on the "tel" option at the top of the screen that has a world pic next to it twice you'll then have the option to choose either telephone, Internet or help if it gives you a choice for android auto or apple play then you have command. Most cases the command option is noticeable if you have something that looks like a triangle on your window screen from the outside which is the proximity sensor which gives you control to use cruise control from the get go while you're in Park mode behind a car. Or little triangular side mirror indicators on the side of your wing mirror. Alternatively go to Mercedes like I did and ask for assistance and they will tell you based on your reg
