    I have a 2019 Model 3 and an iX3. They’re basically the same on a road trip. I’m stopping at the same stations for charge, and charge for about the same time. There are maybe small nuances, that even a small change in the weather can easily influence it in the one or the other direction.
    Also fun fact: if you take the BMW consumption shown in the board computer, multiply with the distance travelled and compare how much % you lost from your 74kWh battery, you’ll see that they match. Do the same for Tesla and you’ll see that there’s a gap. Tesla underreports consumption. So that based on real consumption (% used for distance travelled) they’re very close, less than 10% difference! Given the form of the iX3, that’s a huge success!
    I like both cars for their own advantages, but for the long term I’m keeping the iX3 (ok, I’ve driven Tesla long enough to let it go now). No hate there, and lots of electric drivetrain and software handling Tesla does much better. But BMW does better hardware, so it’s just a better car. It’s a BMW in the first place, that just happens to be electric. And I’m a bit tired of installing new games and light shows in Tesla while they still can’t figure out the automatic wipers in all 4 years that I own the car! It’s ridiculous, I manually push the button every freaking time there’s just a bit of rain or a wet road. As soon as it rains properly, I can put it in one of the fixed ratios - but intermittent rain is a PITA. Headlights are junk compared to iX3 Adaptive LEDs. The list is long. The iX3 is not perfect either, you can’t stop charging or change the charging target remotely; if you turn on AC from the app it will go off after 30 minutes - why?.. But those are like small comfort things that annoy me while charging, etc. The things on Model 3 are more driving security related, and the focus of Tesla’s development is concerning me.

      "I manually push the button every freaking time there’s just a bit of rain or a wet road." it is actually happening to me at iX3, it's either fast wiping or Auto which is not detect small drops, i have to push manually every time

    Great video! Looking forward to your Model YP test with your 19” WT and hopefully under same weather conditions. Would be surprised if consumption is not significantly lower though noise might be somewhat higher.

    Great video as always!
    For someone that has never owned an electric car, would you recommend this?

      Yes, I think this is right up the alley for a bmw combustion car owner to transferring to an EV.

    Did you close the roof curtain when you did the noise test?? Ortherwise you need to do it again :)

    • @ItsOnlyElectric
      @ItsOnlyElectric  Рік тому +2

      No I did not. Maybe I should have, almost all cars I tested until now has glass roofs. But its makes sense to close it, and will be more silent with the curtain, at least in higher speeds.

    very good videos I am interested in the bmw ix3 and the model y performance, I know that they are very different cars in terms of power and design. Are you happy with your model y or would you trade it for a bmw ix3, I see a lot of people complaining about the comfort and quality of the model y, I'm a bit afraid of that, I did a test drive and didn't feel it was too uncomfortable.

    • @ItsOnlyElectric
      @ItsOnlyElectric  11 місяців тому

      Hi, I have had my Model Y Performance for over a year now and I'm very happy with. Low consumption, great performance and very practical. I haven't experienced any quality issue other than a missaligned door (I made a video aboit that). I like the IX3 but wouldn't replace my Model Y with it.

      @@ItsOnlyElectric Thanks for the answer. I tested it and for me it was a surprise in relation to the test drive I had done in 2019 on the model 3 performance. The suspension has improved a lot and the quality and soundproofing too

    Range is a joke for the money. They removed AWD and yet couldn't save for some more range.

    • @ItsOnlyElectric
      @ItsOnlyElectric  Рік тому

      Aeordynsmics and weight is of course effecting the range in a negative way.
      The compromise between bringing EVs to the market in a decent time and waiting for enough bandwidth and technology for manufacturing.
      The price is comparable to a X3, and priced accordingly to BMWs model line up. But expensive compared to a Model Y.

      Look at carwow range test. It came in second and only marginally behind the EV6

      @@ItsOnlyElectric Yes that's the point, anything below 480 is not quite there IMO, and the only thing that is there with iX3 is BMW pricing.

    For real?? Is this supposed to be a real range test-drive when it is 1 or 2 degrees outside and you set the heating at 20 degrees… these reviews are not serious…

    • @ItsOnlyElectric
      @ItsOnlyElectric  Рік тому +1

      So what should I set it to? I set it to 20 degrees in all my test no matter what the exterior temp is.

      @jorgefernandes8164 Рік тому

      @@ItsOnlyElectric thanks for the prompt response. Understand that you set all your test-drives at 20 degrees, however if it is a “real world” test drive, surely one adjust it to 23/24 degrees; unless one uses coats inside their cars on their daily drives, which I don’t think one would. Anyway that’s only my opinion. Thank you for your videos 👍

    • @ItsOnlyElectric
      @ItsOnlyElectric  Рік тому +2

      Yes, I get that. But to be consistent I always set it to 20. I made that mistake when starting my tests and therefore continue with it. All for trustworthy and comparable results. 20 was a perfect idea durig Sumner but in some cars during winter it's a bit too cold. 🙂
