I'm a beginner archer and despite lots of searchesbon youtube this is the only channel that has managed to explain everything to me in simple easy to understand chunks. Keep up the great work.
I have just taken up casual archery. I’ve completed my introduction course with some complimentary comments from my coaches. I have also watched lots of instructional videos here on UA-cam, most are good, even when most of the messages are very much the same. Yours, however, is common sense, logical and really helpful to a novice like me. I will take more care using your checklist technique. My main aim, excuse the pun, is to try to make my arrow grouping more consistent. Thanks for your videos, they really do help, and l’ll let you know of any improvement!
I just started club archery after this video I have improved A LOT , my shooting is way better in just 2 weeks so sad that in my club this was not emphasised as much .Thank you for your help
Thank you for this humorous checklist. There are many hunters out there for whom this would be true. There are also many compound users out there who also follow a checklist, and no matter the form follow the same basic steps. I prefer to use back tension for my release. My instructor does get a bit miffed if I punch it chewy. For me I find Centering myself helps. It’s partly why I do it. The zen of it. I
I got interested in archery recently and found your videos. I used a lot of your tips in my first few lessons and it has had awesome results and really accelerated my learning and made it fun right out of the gate. My instructor is gonna set up an ILF bow for me next time to see if I like it or not. Might be buying my first one next time. Thanks for the help.
Thank you for your advice, NUSensei! This is exactly the video I was looking for. Despite my 10 years of archery, I wanted to go back to the basics to correct my mistakes that are stalling my progress. May your arrows reach their goal. Greetings from France
As a new archer your advice continues to helps me. Thankyou for making these videos, the quality and presentation of them are superb. I do field archery in various terrain on 3D targets, just wondered if you've done this before and if your approach to shooting changes in anyway compared to targets i.e. Shooting on uneven ground etc
I had to tighten my elevation setting on my sight. It loosened up from the previous day and was slowly sliding down. I now check all the adjustment screws before I start.
For me, this is definitely the most frustrating thing in archery. Nothing pisses me off more than suddenly finding out that I lost track of what some tiny particular muscle is supposed to do during the shot and now I have to re-learn everything.
Hello NUSensei, Thank for taking the time and making these videos for us, very good lessons. I was searching for videos about how to choose the “right“ arrow for your bow. I did find a few, but they were kind of hard to follow. Is there a more basic approach than going into numbers, i.e., draw weights and lengths? I guess I’m not good with numbers. Have you made any videos about choosing the right arrow? I would also like to learn more about arrow spine and which one to select. I am just a traditional shooter (thumb style). Thank You Sensei!
Hey man, I thought you'd stopped posting ages ago, now I realise the gods of UA-cam unsubbed me. Anyway, this is a super helpful reminder for getting back into it after a long break. Cheers duck.
I would like to thank you NuSensei, with your guidance I got back into archery and bought my first nice takedown bow, a Galaxy Sage Elite 2. I’m very excited to give it a try. I was wondering if you could make a video about shooting with the opposite hand? I always was able to shoot with either hand, although interestingly enough I favor shooting LH and even shoot better like that. But I’ve read that you shouldn’t switch between hands and I would really appreciate your input on it. I’m usually RH and right side dominant so it’s a confusing topic for me. Thanks!
I shoot left-handed too and I write right-handed. It's just what your body prefers and which eye is more dominant. I have no dominant eye so I picked left as it's more comfortable.
I have 0 knowledge about archery in general, but damn do I like looking at people talking about their passion and teaching/educating others about stuff. Props to you sir :)

Just cleaning up the channel. Those videos are long outdated and irrelevant now. I haven't engaged with the game for over five years and the game's changed too much to continue to keep those up, especially given that the game is strongly favouring realistic over arcade.
@@NUSensei makes sense. Thanks for taking the time to review literally every tank lol. I've watched dozens of your vids and its gotten me back into war thunder numerous times. The grind is ridiculous.
Ever had frozen shoulder target panic? Can't get my arrow point anywhere near the gold so I keep hitting high, my arm locks up like a forcefield is stopping it from moving down and I hit high. Can't even come in from the side without doing a weird flicking sideway release.
That is a form of target panic. It's horrible but going back to blank bale for a bit and focusing on the steps without a target to worry about helps enormously
do draw holds. draw, aim in the gold, hold for n seconds, go down...repeat ad nauseam. do not accept being stuck outside the gold, if it happens, go down and repeat the whole shot cycle again. you have to literally reprogram your mind that staying in the gold is good.
I stopped going to archery as the instructors there haven't given me any advice in the 3 months I've been there. The only words they've said is "money for lesson", "stand there and shoot", "you're disadvantaged because you're left handed" and "go and buy a compound bow from our archery shop if you want to get good" with pearls of wisdom like that you can see why I left.
You might need a different location. Type of bow/archery form are irrelevant to the pleasure derived. Hand is irrelevant. Dominant eye is more important. My son who is right handed uses a left hand bow. We found it takes months of basic archery, to then build a base for the instructor spot and lift you up from. Remember Archery is easy to start, but difficult to master. Come back to it, centre yourself, and communicate your wishes to the arrow in your form. I do 20yard target with my wife. Some days she wins, some days I win. I still consider myself a relative beginner, or low intermediate after 2 years of it. But I love it and appreciate all the forms of it.
I noticed that you pulled the chord right to your face side but not to the mid where the nose and chin would be split, is this the proper pull or your own style ? Your tuition is highly appreciated and I hope to get your answer for my question.
Although you are on terrain, you likely still have your personal checklist. I know when I 3D the main difference I have is stance and distance. I try to be consistent.
I know it's off topic, but are those finger covers on a string worth it? It looks so convenient just to take a bow and go shooting without a glove required.
He is not being dark as you've described he's speaking to the vast majority of people that this training is applicable to. People who are disabled will require and different form of training. Don't be an elitist bigot and try to find every mistake in good people to make yourself feel better. Nusensei has said nothing offensive.

👍👍Pretty much exactly how I was taught.
Lots of repetition, awareness and a focus on deliberate movements, and "don't practice mistakes" 👍

I’ve started to enjoy and pursue archery again as a sport because of this channel
'Pre-Shot Checklist | Archery Tips..'
wow.. amazing.. wish always success.. have a good day..
This is the best beginner checklist
1. Throw away Recurve
2. Buy a Compound bow
3. Put the dot in the middle
4. Punch trigger
5. Collect medal

"punching" the trigger wouldn't grant you that medal though 🤔

Thank you for this video. I am just now learning so this is much needed for me.
Ever thought starting a series of trick shots, moving targets and generally a more fun way to shoot a target?
Hello NU SENSEI, I DIDN'T HAVE A PRE SHOT CHECK LIST, I DO NOW, THANK YOU, I'LL KEEP IN MIND ALL THESE STEPS, THANK YOU.
Feet first definitely. I sometimes wiggle and readjust foot stance if my first shot didn't feel quite right.

I can here from Shadiversity. Your content is awesome. Keep doing what you are doing man :D

The frustrating thing is, even though I get better... I feel like the longer I shoot the longer my checklist gets over time! 😂
So easy to start so difficult to master.
Thank you Sensei👍👌
this helped me a lot, TY!
Great video as always!
Good vid. But I still ask myself what that WD-40 does here.
There may be a hacker who is using your name. He/she says that you have won a prize and can claim it by clicking on the site. They identify themselves as Nusensei 1.
Scam bots.
Someone pretends to be Sensei says I win a prize (a compound bow), he asks me to pay him the "shipping costs".
Scam!
@@apolyedapolyed7524 YES! Thank you for the information.
They are all over youtube. Often it is that you can win a ps5
Thank you for this video.
Good stuff! Curious, what are you using for that target setup, is it just paper on a wood backer?
Hey bro hope you have been okay. Saw you took down your war thunder videos and lots of us who play a lot miss your wisdom and knowledge.

Hi Nusensie! I’m developing an arrow pass sticker for traditional bows. Something thin and durable. Would you be interested to try it out?

I'm making notes

The chin anchor is more common for shooting sighted bows (Olympic recurve); the cheek anchor is more common for barebow.
Iam a 3d shooter we normally have not a flat underground oure stands are every time different

You've still got that forward release and forced follow-through, Dave.
Two hands that "most" archers have? WTF man that is soo dark
To be fair, someone is bound to bring up the "armless archer" champion. But in all seriousness, there is a respectable para-archery scene.
