I can't understate the importance of bow fitness. Because it's so easy to get into the sport, a lot of people neglect to do conditioning - and just shooting isn't enough. It's more evident when you take time off the sport and try to come back into it with the same expectations.

      I can't understand it either.
Just use lighter draw weight. 😅

Thank you so much Ashe, your videos, especially this one, had led me to find my true full draw and get through my 5-month-long bottleneck period. I had been shooting around 660 since upgrading to 30 meters in July. Last week I bumped into my true full draw with a light bow, and two days ago I shot 689. So happy with my new form. Many thanks for your great videos and lots of love from China.

Your video motivated me to do a serious 720 scoring at 70 meters for the first time in months, and I scored 613! The last time I remember being around 560. Can't stress enough the difference a strong posture makes.

Exactly. Many club archers in my country don't have enough strength. They are working on any part of technique over and over, but they are weak. So results are weak. As my old coach said: "Thinking of what color you should put on your boat is not helping, when there is a hole in it".

I'm shooting around 580/90 and struggled for a few years to pass the 600 ... I just tried today, and i could hold for about 28 sec before having to much form degradation ... and even less after a few tries... So i will try to increase my bow fitness and see if the results are that great once i can hold 30 sec 30 times :)

I tried the test - I can hold 60 Sek. in Full Draw with my training bow - 70“, 22 lbs at 28“ with 30“ arrow length. Then I start to tremble too much.

Great video , I had a question. While doing the bow training you talked about , if I do it on short distance , due to the elevation , my head angle and everything else gets set according to that , and when I go on 70m all of it messes up and my form gets ruined . So what should I do to maintain the same form on long distance ?

Do you recommend to do this before of after a regular shooting session? Thanks for the videos!

Ok was on and off, i would say i did 20s with 40 sec rests in between, only few times did 30s, but scared i dry fire. Can feel it in my fingers now, wow. Thats was with my current 32lbs bow, lasted 15min not 30. Will try to do it 2x week 3rd one with astra band

    OMG
I currently have about 42# OTF and couldn't do 30s once. Not even close... maybe 15s.
I switched limbs and with about 38# couldn't do 30s once. Close but nope.
I switched limbs and with about 34# did five reps then failed on the sixth to make 30s.
I'm way down on volume taking a break between outdoor and indoor but seriously need to reevaluate my setup and do more of these drills.

Do you put the bow down after 30 secs or go back setup position? My shoulder hurts every time I let down. I don’t use shot trainer for the same reason. It it ok to shoot the arrow after 30 secs?

I see no reason not to, if it works for you.

Would you recommend the Astra Archery Shot Trainer for the 30-second exercise you talk about in this video?

It tells the archer that they are at full draw with an audible cue, helping to create consistency in the release.
