    Um that lever on the pump head is supposed to be down when pumping and up when taking it off

    Why they have complicated life with Presta valve. The previous value was working just fine for the bikes

      Schrader valve works for billions of tires, I'll never know why it's not standard for bikes as well.
      At least cars don't use this retarded system, thank God for that...

    Thank you. This was excellent. I received a Schwann foot pump (with gauge) today. No instructions on connecting pump valve to tire stem. The video provided by Amazon relating to this product was extremely lame. I would grade that video's level of helpfulness as D minus.

      thanks for the feedback! :)
      I try to be as informative as i can.
      p.s. a gauge is absolutely necessary for a bicycle pump imo. At the time a made the video i thought it didn't matter that much..

    • @rr7firefly
      @rr7firefly 7 років тому +2

      +allos -- Yes, yes about the gauge. Fortunately you had closeups that showed the little nut at the top of the Presta valve. Your suggestion to press on it to clear it or unstick it was very helpful. BTW, I just finished pumping my tires to 55 PSI and now I can finally take my bike for a ride (no snow here).

    You don't actually need the adapter. If you screw the head off the pump and up the "safety" lever, you can take out the insulation ring and a plastic piece will come off with it. Flip the plastic piece the other way around, put everything back in and voila, you got yourself a pump with a presta head.

      do it with it down I think he has it backwards here. When u put the lever down, it tightens the grip on the air pump to the adapter

  • @bigpardner

    I am wondering why the adapters have external threads. If the pump fitting does not screw onto the valve or valve adapter what is the point of the threads? It seems they make it more difficult.

    • @allosMD
      @allosMD  9 років тому

      ***** i can only guess the threads exist so as to make easier the screwing of the adapter to the tire valve..especially if you have large fingers...but its only my guess!

    • @bigpardner
      @bigpardner 9 років тому +1

      Thank you. The internal, or female threads, are of course to screw the adapters onto the Presta valve. The top external, male threads of the adapter could be to screw on the inflating pump but I haven't seen a pump that screws on, you just hold it down tight or flip a switch that clamps it tight. Maybe the threads help the internal squeezing mechanism of the pump head get a better grip.

    • @mrjesseAlexanderchan
      @mrjesseAlexanderchan 5 років тому

      Those threads are just for the dust cover fam nothing complicated

    just tried this with two expensive pumps and didn't work. The pumps fitting doesn't break the air seal. It works with older style pumps but 50 psi is the maximum because of the amount of air that is released when you disengage.

    Hi, is it safe to keep the presta valve adaptor mounted on our bike at all times? with a proper cap of course

    • @allosMD
      @allosMD  Рік тому +1

      Since the valve will be open -even with a cap on- if there is pressure applied on top, some air might get out.. I haven't tried it though..

  • @revolution51
    @revolution51 6 років тому

    @3:07-I notice that the adapter is brass and the valve stem is steel.
    Is there any danger of the 2 dissimilar metals binding to each other during the pumping operation?

    My friend put this bike together for his son and before I knew it he was done ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L When the son came to put it together he was surprised to see it was already done. All he had to do was take the bike to get air and be on his way. My friend did not have any major problems putting this bike together; small issue was putting one of the brakes on straight; however when the son got home he was able to fix it. The bike rides well gears move correctly; good bike for the price. Wrote review after the son took the bike. Sorry.
