Are these improved from the pre production versions? The reviews on those weren't really great.
The clarity of the crystal really is phenomenal, but I just can't go back to a sub 150 FOV after using my 5K+ for so long.
I'll be getting a 8KX and eventually a 12K depending on how it reviews once they've solved any problems it will likely release with.
Pimax really push the envelope, but they need to drive the cost down and start delivering products that work out of the box.
Don't worry 12k is coming Q4 2022 xD
Finally I found a person who has the same point of view. I cannot go below 120 hFoV after 8KX.
@@Directx11cool 90% of my use is sim racing & the sense of speed and positional awareness from the increased FOV is just such a killer feature to me.
I will say though the Fresnel lenses have their disadvantages. I don't care about the edge image distortion, but the god-ray effect gets annoying in some light conditions.
Ultimately though, it's all still worth it to me to feel the track blasting by and being able to see out both my side windows.
I just dread what GPU I'll need for a 12K whenever that actually happens. I'm going to grab a 4090 but I doubt that's going to be anywhere near enough, sims are poorly optomised.
@@Anonnymouse53 I'm going to get 5090 cuz 4090 is not enough for DCS World.

Wow man I've been subbed since the Vive and Rift days! Way before Pimax came out. And I'm just now seeing you in my suggestion list. Crazy!
I can't wait for the eMail to finally order the wide FOV lenses!
I cant wait to buy these. :) I miss the wide FOV of my 5k in normal mode. For me FOV is just as important as resolution and though I think my Crystal is amazing I do miss my Pimax 5ks wider FOV
If they put these lenses into new crystal sales then I'm going to buy one.
Will my prescription lenses fit over them? Looking forward to the release.
Only thing I heard from Sebastian Ang's review was, that a bit of binocular overlap os sacrified. But nonetheless, the Crystal is a visual bomb.
Never trust Sebastian. I still remember his overhype about Reverb G2. And how he hates Pimax and do shit comparison through the lens with 8KX.
@@Directx11cool not my impression from him. He likes the Crystal actually.
@@b.s.7693 Yes and is very strange. Hate the company a lot before and now loves so much.
Do prescription adapter lenses for the old lenses fit these new lenses too?
That was a wrong direction for Pimax after 8K&5K large FOV headsets! They had to stick with it buy streamlining the previous gen, but continue offering large FOV. But, seeing their business ethics and client service I am not suprised. No more Pimax for me at all, I learned my lesson!
do you have any plans on using the HTC vive xr?
Well, no answer on the question if they improved the lenses so I think it will be the same quality as in the bad reviews.
Grymt 👏👏🙏🙏
What’s stopping me from the crystal is the unnecessary weight and on board processing, I prefer a wireless big screen beyond with double the fov
But reviews from MRTV and Flight sim guy weren't that positive.......so......? You have a tough job mate, and Pimax doesn’t make it any easier for you
Waiting for 12k to go from my reverb g2.
1 year minimum, rtx 5090 will not enough for 12k
Just on time for the release of the Somnium VR1.
Still need to wait about 6 month. Artur Sychov told about june-july for mass production ever the world.
67.7 ipd, fov is only 94.
Pimax vaporware is still around?
Maybe but you get it in the end. The advancement they have made since release of the Crystal and enhancements that were requested by their customers is awesome and something I haven't seen to many others do. I love my Crystal for DCS is a dream
im waiting for the version of crystal that has none of the standalone feature set native lighthouse based
As usual, announce, not available
Man sweviver. Go back to reviewing games and mods like your old videos 😢
unfortunately you cant buy them so this is all pointless
He is a Pimax employee so he won't tell you truth about these glasses.
Pimax is bs. It's the worst quality among VR hmd's producers. I've owned multiple of them. Their QA is non existent.
Do not agree! I been using my pimax5K+ for over 5 years and STILL happy with it. I can NEVER go back to narrow fov no matter the resolution and "quality". I am looking forward to 12K though for the oled and fov.
@@vracan you lucky! My 5+ broke 2 months after warranty expired
@@vracan i would argue that you were just lucky. There is a reason they give only 6mo or 1yr warranty for their products instead of full 2 years.
I owned 5 of their HMD's. Almost each one had issues with displays (most common issue being one display going black after a while - and that's quite common if you check their forums).
One HMD (I think it was Artisan) completely failed to boot.
Plastic was so cheap that it often broke for no apparent reason.
From one of the mosty expensive HMD on the market you expect top quality. Pimax does not deliver on anything except FOV.
I ended up ditching 8KX in favor of Reverb G2 and I'm never coming back.
BTW How is 12K that was supposed to be delivered ~3 years ago ;)))))?
I've owned one headset from them that has been fine for years, as have many others. I'm sorry you got unlucky but no need to throw tantrums.
@@marcinkarpinski9163 maybe you just unlucky? anyhow cant stand other headsets with thier binocular vision so Im sticking with my pimax5k+ until competition catches up in fov technology
do you have any plans on using the HTC vive xr?
