I can't imagine it would cost that much to heat off you're surrounded by other units. My apartment is 800 sq ft and I live on the middle floor and haven't even turned my heat on this winter. I live in Michigan.
NY State has 62 counties. NYC is only 5 of them! C'mon upstate! We have the biggest park in the US outside of Alaska - bigger than Yellowstone, Everglades, Glacier & Grand Canyon combined!
I like how the space was creatively used. The only thing I would change is that huge bed taking up so much space. This unit screams for a Murphy bed. Then there would be more walking/living area. And you could take advantage of the space and view by the window. But I don't think this space is worth more than $1300 and that's being generous.
Funny thing was that I was like, "That's a nice little place there. I think I wouldn't mind living there... And then he hit me with the price tag. Fuck that. I rather sleep in my car. I got some ideas about converting the backseats and trunk into a makeshift bed area. There is a planet fitness nearby that I can shower at, plenty of nice, modern and CLEAN laundry mats around here. Not really, for all its faults, New York has excellent diners at cheap prices with good food. Your bigger problem would be keeping warm in the winter, cool in the summer.
... I'm not saying I would pay $2300/mo to live here. But, when I drove trucks over the road, I was really impressed with how efficient, comfortable and homie a seasoned trucker could make out of his sleeper cab. This is actually pretty sad that people pay that much to live like this… seems borderline inhumane honestly.
They call it gentrification. Welcome to NYC in the 2000s.
People from the third world would choose to move back instead of living in a space like this.
It's what people are willing to pay. Think this is bad look at Tokyo
Oh, come on. US doesn’t commit any human rights violations. This is because of Russia and all third world countries….
Its supply and demand. During covid demand was done and so were prices. The most desirable places in the world to live have the highest demand.
It's crazy to think that a person who can afford that apartment would be living in a 3-4000 sqft monster house in other states.
My parents rent out a duplex for 1,500 a month. It has 2 stories, 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a game room, a storage room, all appliances came with it, a big backyard with a porch and fire pit, and a 1 car garage. Mans are getting ROBBED in new York.
Deadass the house we rent in Florida is $1,300 and it’s a whole ass house with a fenced in yard. How the fuck does NY survive
@@Wow-vw6ws where's this place located?
Exactly
Big city costs are ridiculous. My house has 3 floors, 5 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, and a full basement. $500 a month mortgage. Small town living
I would go freaking insane in that damn “Apartment “😂😂🤦🏻♂️ specially with that price lmaooo crazy
I just spit out my coffee when I heard the price. I thought he was going to say $450 to $500
I wouldn't mind living there, but the price is absolutely insane.
That would be enough for me too but I agree that price is crazy
2300 is pretty cheap, considering the renter is making 200k.
You obviously don't understand the average income of ppl in Manhattan. Lol 😂
Both comments about income is false
I wouldn’t pay more than $600 a month.
That’s insane. I’ll never understand how people can justify paying that price for a particularly large closet.
Thank you for not saying, “LITERALLY insane”!!! I Can’t stand how that word is SO overused these days!
@@SuperBizalz it's literally insane how much people use that phrase.
Because ppl are stupid and think living in nyc is “hip”
Location location location.
Three people split the rent there.
Stay in Boise.
keep in mind in other states 2 grand gets you 2500 square feet
It’s disgusting that NY does this smh.
As a New Yorker I really be wondering what keeps people here sometimes
I'd be claustrophobic in that. It's basically a wide hallway stuffed with living essentials. The cost is absolutely ridiculous.
"Pet friendly", that's a pet jail.
It was probably a linen storage area or a janitors closet before it was converted
Dori Wilson , I would be claustrophobic also. Who in their right mind would pay for a small hatch storeroom . Reminds me of storage space onboard a ship.
That's why you don't move to New York or any of the world-renowned big cities in the US, they rob you blind and leave you high and dry
@@kimberlyharvey8876 people are doing it in San Francisco and Los Angeles too. Heck I live in the valley in northern California there's apartments small like this going for anywhere between a thousand to fifteen hundred because we've been turned into a bedroom community by bay area transplants
How do you get to the “sleeping loft”? Catapult yourself from the flimsy dishwasher panel?
You win best comment of this video lol
You don’t
Well Jake, many moons ago, man invented something called a ladder.
🤣🤣🤣 Good one!
YEET
Love how he was laughing at times. Shows how tight it was. Space wise.
He unironically called a party table next to the kitchen a dining room
I’m glad I live in Kansas. That’s the price to rent a 5 bedroom house, built in the 2000s.
And pray everyday your house and body aren’t blown miles away and slammed onto some field in the middle of nowhere after a massive tornado

@@coyotecom Can you name anyone bitten by a rabid hobo? Because I can name a lot of Hurricanes and we got tracking on a lot of Tornado's

This is actually hilarious 😆!
So basically it’s a hallway that you sleep, cook, eat and use the bathroom in. Gotcha! 😉
I’ve lived in a 200 ft apartment. Got depressed like never before! Moved out and got better in a week! That kind of small space really messes with your head.
That’s basically my mortgage payment on a 5 bed, 3 bath home in Alaska.
Yeah? What else you have in Alaska? Oh, right. Nothing.
@timemachine_194 along with the fact that Alaska doesn't stink like literal human feces. 🤷♂️

You know, it's anti-American people like you who make this country a worse place to live. I love every state. Each and every star on that flag. And our territories too. If you don't like our union, move to a place that suits you better. That's freedom of association. As long as you are a citizen of this union, you are an associate of every state in it.
I like how Eric's outfit changes according to the apartment style.
The dog has the best lot in this living situation. Rent free, baby!
I guess the term bedroom, dining, "loft 😒" and living room gets thrown around loosely over in the NYC. Actual value $50/mo
Actual value 10$
I might buy it for like 10 cents and some belly lint.
Except that you are in the east village and can get door to door anywhere in the city for less than 3 dollars in less than 30 minutes. Admit the rent is ridiculous but there are MANY people willing to pay it soooo.. market is the market.
@@mannyfestoINS I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, nyc is a cesspool but worse. The rent is a nightmare but the city is the ass flavored reality you’d have to deal with every moment you aren’t in that closet of a home.
@@jcornscorndog941 very true
I love the gas meter hanging off the wall as soon as you walk in lol

But its "Ssssooo New York!!"😅
As an HVAC tech that was the first thing i noticed and the first thing that irked me. I have big apt buildings in NH that i service which have indoor gas meters.. but they're always in the basement or a designated room. Not hanging from your goddamn living room wall
@@zach8107 - yea "designated room" meaning a utility room, they turned a utility room into an apartment. I think that is clear here.
@@zach8107
Most countries would not even allow a gas meter indoors.
Actually pretty well laid out for such a small space.
That sleeping loft is where I'll see a face just staring at me in the middle of the night one night
I just love the 11foot ceilings. So much more usable room and only adds about a third more cost to heat or cool it 🙄
Good thing it has that "cool" exposed brick wall, huh? Bet that won't cause the heating bill to skyrocket in the winter... 🤣
I can't imagine it would cost that much to heat off you're surrounded by other units. My apartment is 800 sq ft and I live on the middle floor and haven't even turned my heat on this winter. I live in Michigan.
@@tommydevine9993 The condensation makes such interesting patterns as it trickles down the painted brick
True! They look nice but mega expensive to heat a place with that kind of ceiling.
You can install shelves.
Aaaaaannnnndddd yet ANOTHER reason added to my ever growing, near infinite list of why I will NEVER live in New York. 🔥☠️
Or California
@@jaredfleming5085 Truth.
A crappie existence indeed.
NY State has 62 counties. NYC is only 5 of them! C'mon upstate! We have the biggest park in the US outside of Alaska - bigger than Yellowstone, Everglades, Glacier & Grand Canyon combined!
@@rapierlynx I was in the Adirondacks couple months ago , but I live on Long Island and it’s great suburban NY living!
I like how the space was creatively used. The only thing I would change is that huge bed taking up so much space. This unit screams for a Murphy bed. Then there would be more walking/living area. And you could take advantage of the space and view by the window. But I don't think this space is worth more than $1300 and that's being generous.
The meter hanging over the dresser in the "bedroom" is a nice touch.😁
"How do I even fit here, yo!" - Couldn't have described it better.
Basically killed the entire video with that sentence
Funny thing was that I was like, "That's a nice little place there. I think I wouldn't mind living there... And then he hit me with the price tag. Fuck that. I rather sleep in my car. I got some ideas about converting the backseats and trunk into a makeshift bed area. There is a planet fitness nearby that I can shower at, plenty of nice, modern and CLEAN laundry mats around here. Not really, for all its faults, New York has excellent diners at cheap prices with good food.

imagine owning a PET in such a tiny space. I'd go absolutely mad myself living there
Have to be a small pet n u would be in the park... a lot...
I like it, I'll take it...
You could probably have 2 goldfish...
Good thing cats like small spaces and can have the whole storage loft. But rent better drop a zero for that dinky little closet.
... I'm not saying I would pay $2300/mo to live here. But, when I drove trucks over the road, I was really impressed with how efficient, comfortable and homie a seasoned trucker could make out of his sleeper cab. And, a lot of truckers have pets to keep them company over the road. So, 300sqft is definitely doable. But, I don't personally know anyone that would pay that much to live in such a small space.
I liked the coffin size 'loft' the best. More like crawl space.
“Here is the living room”- small couch across from the entry door
Bruh im paying $1520 on canada and im getting a landfiell views and a river. 2 full bedrooms and even a balcony 😂😂😂
It looks cozy to me but how it’s basically one long hallway is nerve racking.
What has happened to humans? 😢The prices for property either it be to buy or rent, is a disgrace😒. That ugly dump in East Village is worth $100 a week, in which the owner should pay the tenant to live there. Who the hell started this roller coaster of absurd prices? 👿👎
The disproportionate prices of New York have been this way since I was there in 1980. It was crazy high (compared to everywhere else) then too
