Once you are out of the Google meets from Google classroom it will not allow students to enter. Yay!

Thanks Again, I saw this is early am and was like wow! Thanks for showing us what it can do for us!! Only thing it needs is a select all, end all button. I'm sure that is somewhere. Thanks again, will be sharing to my colleagues.
I love your videos so much!! They are so easy to understand... thank you! Do you have any videos on integrating Nearpod with Google Classroom & Meet yet? Thanks again for sharing your expertise!
THANK YOU MUCH ERIC AND GOOGLE! This is new feature is going to be soooo helpful. Is there any way you can design the Classroom to use different fonts and colors? Again Thank you so much! Classroom is Awesome!
Hi Eric, I have found your videos to be so helpful. Just wondering if it is possible to incorporate rolling an interactive/online dice using jamboard? ALso perhaps a deck of playing cards. And somehow also to create a table and use counters? I am looking for a way to play an interactive maths game through jam board. Thank you.
Yes, sort of. When you are in the settings page, you can choose to copy the link for that meeting. You are able to share that link with students from other classes, allowing them to access the meeting (with the same limits described in the video). Unfortunately, you would have to post this link as material, share through email, etc. You can't set it to display in the header of other classes.
@@sandraruch-morrin9026 I used the link from one class to share to my other classes. I did have to post the link as an assignment to the other classes in order for them to see it and log in. I started posting a copied Meet link in the announcements. There I can select which classes see the link in the announcements. I think a good feature upgrade would allow teachers to pin an announcement. As of now I can move it to the top but I would like the option to pin an announcement.
I guess in that case, you would have to generate a common link not from the classrooms itself. We have created one common links for each grades which the students use for all the different subjects as they are in different timings. We wanted to make it easier for the students and parents to have just one link which they can save anywhere and use it as per the time and class. But, in that case, we do not have the control of not allowing students to join the meeting without a teacher and we are looking into it to change that. So, we might try out this way even if it means having separate links for all the classes.
Your tutorials are super! Can you answer a Q about connecting these meets to the calendar? I see that I can start the (secure) meet right from our GC code, which is awesome! What do you suggest for creating a calendar event w GM attached? I couldn't make the "add conferencing" button accept my 10-letter code??? I get the error: "You can only enter a 10-letter code from an existing mtg." thanks!
I hope Google have already realized that the students need to have the option to wait for the teacher if they try to join early. And hopefully, they're already working on that feature. Also, when the teacher leaves, the meeting should just kick the remaining students out automatically. I hope they've realized this inconvenience and are working on it as well.
Been six months since ur comment and they haven't even realized ONLY the teacher has to have host controls... how that wasn't the first thing they thought of doing proves they've never talked to any teachers when pushing this crap out
What settings do you have your account set to? Students are able to join and reenter meetings without me, making this integration useless for teachers. This seems to be a big problem on the Google help forum too
As far as I see, students CAN enter the meet before me. At least in the last four sessions I enterd, I saw just before hitting the JOIN button that my students were already connected (before scheduled). I also saw that once I left the group, they were still connected (my connection was interfered and I lost the internet signal, and so had to rejoin). So I believe there must be another step, maybe some configuration that needs to be changed by the Administrator? Could that be the issue?? I have already sent Feedback to Google.
It is only unable to be rejoined after the last person has left, regardless if it is a student. So when the meeting ends, teachers should remove all students and end the session. But there is something broken on the back end.
In my case, students are still able to join the meeting when I am not there. And when we are in a Meet, I cannot mute or remove students. Students can use that link on my Google Class page to start their own Meet at any time.
great update. I have allowed meet for teachers but not for students in the admin console. The option for meet is not coming up in my admin console. Do you know why not?
My students don't see the Meet link on their Classroom banner even though I've chosen to make it visible to them in my Settings. Does it take time to show up for them or is it like some other Meet enhancements where its rolled out over time?

I believe that my colleague and I have figured out the issue with students joining before the teacher. If the G Suite Admin Console allows students to start their own Meet, the "nickname" feature does not work as designed (can't start until teacher present, ends after last person leaves).
Is it possible to have the same google meet link for multiple classrooms? For example, I teach four Algebra 2 classes and each is set up in their own classroom. But I want them all to be able to join a single google meet.

In our school we have G Suite for Education. I recently set up a Google Meet from the Google Classroom, but during the session, I could not record the session, nor mute or remove students. I can do those things when I open a "normal" Google Meet as a teacher (so not from Google Classroom, I just tested it again to make sure) . Is there something wrong with the settings?
When testing this out, our students have been able to access the Meet prior to the teacher starting the session. We had a few students in the Meet session without the teacher, which isn't ideal.
Same here...logged in yesterday to find a student logged in and waiting. Also, when I, as the teacher, log out and try to rejoin, I get the message denying me access to the Meet until I launch it again from GC.
What if there is more than one teacher in the class... would there be a confusion during the meeting? Example if the teacher could no longer mute a student mic because they are no longer the host of the meeting?
I had a parent ask if it sets up more than one meeting room. She said her daughter clicked the button in GC and it put her in a different Meet. I think she is probably using an old link, that I hadn't deleted. But wanted to make sure before I contact her back.
Can students use the code generated in the google meet while they are in the meeting and copy it into google hangouts to meet up with their friends after the meeting has finished?

Now, the Remove Student seems to remove them permanently, denying them permission from ever rejoining. Have we missed something in the settings? Any other suggestions?
Good night, thanks for the video. The link generated in Classroom allows students to enter the meeting without the teacher being there. What do I have to do to make it the same as your tutorial? Or has Google not yet updated? Thank you Luísa Rodrigues
I'm having the same problem. The delay between students leaving and the link deactivating is too large. Plenty of room for teacher error and students to figure out how to stay in the chat without the teacher.
Am I am able to video conference with only specific students using this same link? For example, I want to meet with just a small group of students. Can I use this link without the whole class having access?
If I meet with small groups of students, would I need to make a new meeting code? or when It is time to meet with my small group, they just click on the meet link?
Hi Eric Is there anything special that our admin needs to do to activate the feature? I have tried to log in as a "fake student" and the "student" can enter the meeting. The "student" does not receive the message that the meeting code does not exist. /Per
It would be great if the error code said that the teacher isn't present so the Meet isn't open, rather than the link "doesn't work". Also, is it possible to set office hours for the Meet that are visible when students look for the Meet link?
Yesterday, when I went to start my meeting created in this EXACT way, I noticed that three of my 5th-grade students were already on. After the meeting was over, I went back on- about 15 minutes later- just to check, and sure enough, there were five students still chatting away! I told them NOT to use this for non-classroom discussion and asked them to log off. Half an hour after this, I checked again and three of them were still at it. So I went into GC settings and reset the meet link, and didn't make it visible to students. Today I'll join with the new link and then make it visible. I'll also reset again after it ends. Either this information isn't accurate (which based on all of your great videos I doubt), or there's a "glitch" on Google's end. Any ideas on why I might be having this problem? Maybe I just need to create a nickname and be done with it.
@@teresapluth6 do you know for sure that you were the FIRST account to JOIN the meeting? I'm trying to troubleshoot a similar issue. Eric discusses this in his earlier video as an issue that remains when you use nicknames. Apparently it's also an issue with the classroom generated links?
I'm a student and I can't see the link even though my teacher made it visible (None of the students can). So, my teacher manually shared the code through messenger and it still doesn't work; even though, he already started the class. It shows "Check your meeting code" error. Please help us. The school cannot seem to. We keep clicking the google meet icon in the classroom but it closes as soon as we see the camera preview and the join link isn't clickable. Screen closes after a second and takes you to a page that says 'Join a meeting.' But you need a meeting code. Teacher is busy in class when we ask if maybe the code needs resetting. The school media center says the Assistant Principal, of all people, can remove or add us from class. This happens at least once a day. Sometimes it seems to resolve itself. Other times we need the AP, but understandably, he's a busy guy. They keep saying it's a google meet issue they can't control. My kid is on a 504 plan and missing half of class too many days. Anybody know why it does this?? Please HELP!
Is there a way that two teachers in two different classrooms can share the same link for Google Meet? I want to combine or co-teach a class with another English teacher? We have small classes so we want to have our two classes meet together.

Thanks for this!!
Outstanding video! Thanks! This will help my staff a lot.
Can you generate two links because our Google Classroom is shared by many teachers so the students only have to go to one place
In my setting gear button, I'm not getting google meet section. Is there any problem with my device?
Is there a way that two teachers in two different classrooms can share the same link for Google Meet? I want to combine or co-teach a class with another English teacher? We have small classes so we want to have our two classes meet together.
Unlikely. Alternative method is to schedule a Meet via Calendar and invite both classroom students.
How do you get that feature
