Hi Eric, I have followed your instructions, but my students are able to enter without me present and I can't mute or remove them as those buttons beside my students are grey and not active. Any advice?
As far as I see, students CAN enter the meet before me. At least in the last four sessions I enterd, I saw just before hitting the JOIN button that my students were already connected (before scheduled). I also saw that once I left the group, they were still connected (my connection was interfered and I lost the internet signal, and so had to rejoin). So I believe there must be another step, maybe some configuration that needs to be changed by the Administrator? Could that be the issue?? I have already sent Feedback to Google.
It is only unable to be rejoined after the last person has left, regardless if it is a student. So when the meeting ends, teachers should remove all students and end the session. But there is something broken on the back end.
Make sure that you test this out. Many teachers using Google Meet right now are finding that students are able to enter our rooms after we are gone. I think Google might have changed something. I've started hiding the link from view before closing the class as a way to "lock" my room.

This happened to me too! I'm testing it out the way he demonstrated but with an actual student, and the student can get into the Meet without me being in the meeting! What are we missing???
In my case, students are still able to join the meeting when I am not there. And when we are in a Meet, I cannot mute or remove students. Students can use that link on my Google Class page to start their own Meet at any time.
Yes, sort of. When you are in the settings page, you can choose to copy the link for that meeting. You are able to share that link with students from other classes, allowing them to access the meeting (with the same limits described in the video). Unfortunately, you would have to post this link as material, share through email, etc. You can't set it to display in the header of other classes.
@@sandraruch-morrin9026 I used the link from one class to share to my other classes. I did have to post the link as an assignment to the other classes in order for them to see it and log in. Later on, I was with another class and I had them test out the 1st link to see if they were able to enter and they were not. So, Yes! I started posting a copied Meet link in the announcements. There I can select which classes see the link in the announcements. I think a good feature upgrade would allow teachers to pin an announcement. As of now I can move it to the top but I would like the option to pin an announcement.
I guess in that case, you would have to generate a common link not from the classrooms itself. We have created one common links for each grades which the students use for all the different subjects as they are in different timings. We wanted to make it easier for the students and parents to have just one link which they can save anywhere and use it as per the time and class. But, in that case, we do not have the control of not allowing students to join the meeting without a teacher and we are looking into it to change that. So, we might try out this way even if it means having separate links for all the classes.
THANK YOU MUCH ERIC AND GOOGLE! This is new feature is going to be soooo helpful. Is there any way you can design the Classroom to use different fonts and colors? Again Thank you so much! Classroom is Awesome!
This video is not accurate. After generating a link, no only can my students open the link (if visible) anytime they want, but if they are the FIRST to click the link they become the host and have control over all the other students, even the teacher! I'd recommend having your IT department disable student's ability to start meetings in Google. This has been the only work around I have found so far.

What settings do you have your account set to? Students are able to join and reenter meetings without me, making this integration useless for teachers. This seems to be a big problem on the Google help forum too
Using Google Meet link in Google Classroom allows students to enter the meeting room before you and become the the host and control the recording, unless the admin of the school disables it.
Is it possible to have the same google meet link for multiple classrooms? For example, I teach four Algebra 2 classes and each is set up in their own classroom. But I want them all to be able to join a single google meet.
Yesterday, when I went to start my meeting created in this EXACT way, I noticed that three of my 5th-grade students were already on. After the meeting was over, I went back on- about 15 minutes later- just to check, and sure enough, there were five students still chatting away! I told them NOT to use this for non-classroom discussion and asked them to log off. Half an hour after this, I checked again and three of them were still at it. So I went into GC settings and reset the meet link, and didn't make it visible to students. Today I'll join with the new link and then make it visible. I'll also reset again after it ends. Either this information isn't accurate (which based on all of your great videos I doubt), or there's a "glitch" on Google's end. Any ideas on why I might be having this problem? Maybe I just need to create a nickname and be done with it.

Wish they make it like zoom or Lark. Is there a way you can disable chat that the students dont post nonsense? mute the mike such that the student is not able to unmute ?
It would be great if the error code said that the teacher isn't present so the Meet isn't open, rather than the link "doesn't work". Also, is it possible to set office hours for the Meet that are visible when students look for the Meet link?
I had a parent ask if it sets up more than one meeting room. She said her daughter clicked the button in GC and it put her in a different Meet. I think she is probably using an old link, that I hadn't deleted. But wanted to make sure before I contact her back.
What if there is more than one teacher in the class... would there be a confusion during the meeting? Example if the teacher could no longer mute a student mic because they are no longer the host of the meeting?

Hi Eric, I have found your videos to be so helpful. Just wondering if it is possible to incorporate rolling an interactive/online dice using jamboard? ALso perhaps a deck of playing cards. And somehow also to create a table and use counters? I am looking for a way to play an interactive maths game through jam board. Thank you.
Once I want to share my screen with my student w/Epic and JamBoard, I CAN share and see add’t screens, BUT MY STUDENTS CAN NOT!! Why?? Would it be easier to go through Hangout???
My students are able to join before me and have mute and kick control. I followed the steps in the video but I am sure I am missing something.
didnt see the meet option on my classroom, mine ended in show deleted item, what do i do?
tonnie1970 I’m having the same problem
I also have same problem
Your tutorials are super!
Can you answer a Q about connecting these meets to the calendar? I see that I can start the (secure) meet right from our GC code, which is awesome! What do you suggest for creating a calendar event w GM attached? I couldn't make the "add conferencing" button accept my 10-letter code??? I get the error: "You can only enter a 10-letter code from an existing mtg."
thanks!
Am I am able to video conference with only specific students using this same link? For example, I want to meet with just a small group of students. Can I use this link without the whole class having access?
I love your videos so much!! They are so easy to understand... thank you! Do you have any videos on integrating Nearpod with Google Classroom & Meet yet? Thanks again for sharing your expertise!
Thank you so much. For making superb easy tutorial. I saw lots of tutorial related Google Classroom but those are really diffucut to understand. Thank you again..
GREAT VIDEO!!! Can I generate a link and share it with all my google classroom classes. For example. Create a link in my period 1 class and copy and paste it on all classrooms. I would like to have a meeting with all classes at the same time.
Is this Facility not available in India???
Hi, can anyone offer a suggestion for students unmuting themselves? Also, any concerns with the fact that students can also screen share and use the chat feature? Thanks in advance!
I checked my setup and meet is not an option
I had a parent ask if it sets up more than one meeting room. She said her daughter clicked the button in GC and it put her in a different Meet. I think she is probably using an old link, that I hadn't deleted. But wanted to make sure before I contact her back.
What if there is more than one teacher in the class... would there be a confusion during the meeting? Example if the teacher could no longer mute a student mic because they are no longer the host of the meeting?
Anyone having issues with Student being able to get in. My teachers are reporting that students are accessing the Meet before they join.
Can you generate two links because our Google Classroom is shared by many teachers so the students only have to go to one place
Thanks Eric. This tutorial is right in time. I was wondering if your can teach how to add an external camera like DSLR in to meet platform in place of integrated web cam of laptop. Thanks.
Please check your email and respond to my email I sent earlier.
Thanks for the video explaining how to set up Meet. I am encountering the same problem as many others though. I don't see the function within the settings tab to activate it. Any thoughts? Thanks again.
Can students use the code generated in the google meet while they are in the meeting and copy it into google hangouts to meet up with their friends after the meeting has finished?
I dont see the "generate link" button
Can you create small groups?
If I meet with small groups of students, would I need to make a new meeting code? or when It is time to meet with my small group, they just click on the meet link?
In my setting , I'm not getting google meet section. Is there any problem with my device?
You are a life saver!!!!! Thank you for your helpful and super informative videos.
In my setting gear button, I'm not getting google meet section. Is there any problem with my device?
Did the student id you used have the same domain name as your teacher id? My students can’t see the meet link or meet sign under class work.
Is it possible to have to 2 goggle meet codes and 2 separate sessions going on at the same time within one class?
please take this video down
Does the copy option work if you want to invite multiple classes to the same meet?
hey. nice easy to follow video, however i'm not seeing that option in my google classroom
I used the link from one class to share to my other classes. I posted as an assignment to multiple classes which allowed me to assign to all classes at one time. Later on, I was with another class and I had them test out the 1st link to see if they were able to enter and they were not. So, Yes! Once you are out of the Google meets from Google classroom it will not allow students to enter. Yay!
Thanks very much😇
my teacher sent this to me for school
it wouldve been totally awesome if it was a rickroll
too bad lol
