Because by the time the demo was released and people saw what the game is like it was far too close to release for a delay to fix much. Not that a delay would do anything to fix the game unless it was a 2-3 year delay so they would completely restart the whole game from scratch.
It wasn’t delayed because the game is flawed to its core. Their only options were to cancel it or sell it, and Square Enix isn’t going to pass up an opportunity to sell 54 copies of Balan Wonderworld.

Well Platinum aren't really a publisher. Nintendo would have spotted the money but they wanted it on a bunch of consoles. Weird move considering they probably COULD have self-published but not completely unreasonable.

It’s more deserving of an AVGN episode due to how broken the game is. I’m not holding hope for such a thing to happen, though. James Rolfe would already be in a retirement centre by the time he shits on this game.
It breaks my heart seeing the final result being so unpleasing. This was one of the most anticipated games of the year for me. The character design and cutscenes still looks fantastic.

The saddest part about this game is how they got Square employees to positive review bomb the game on Metacritic, like when do you ever see that happening for any other Triple A game, bad or not?
Gameplay is the most important aspect of a video game. The guys put so much effort in graphics, music, animations, etc., and not a whole lot of gameplay and controls. Graphics over gameplay is basically style over substance, which is the game's biggest flaw. Jumping is the most important action in a platformer. Sure you can't jump in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, but the levels in the game are specifically designed without jumping in mind. Here, the level design just doesn't feel right.
See a Platformer without jumping can actually work well, as seen by games like Bionic Commando and Snake Pass. But if you do this though you better make damned sure your game is properly built around that restriction, otherwise it turns out like this.
This was made by the man who couldn't even finish Sonic 06. A man who said "in this homage to Nights, the MC will be some mocap Unity asset flip instead of the Nights-looking character". It deserves every criticism it got.
This feels like a game that Naka wanted to make for the sake of exploring some ideas, not necessarily the game that Nights fans actually wanted. It reminds me of the opposite of Bloodstained RotN, apparently it wasn't a game Igarashi particularly wanted to make but it was a game that Castlevania fans really wanted.

This was made by the man who couldn't even finish Sonic 06. A man who said "in this homage to Nights, the MC will be some mocap Unity asset flip instead of the Nights-looking character".

This feels like a game that Naka wanted to make for the sake of exploring some ideas, not necessarily the game that Nights fans actually wanted. It reminds me of the opposite of Bloodstained RotN, apparently it wasn't a game Igarashi particularly wanted to make but it was a game that Castlevania fans really wanted.
