Art and painting tutorials have gained popularity as unintentional ASMR videos because of Bob Ross, the original ASMR voice for so many of us. Well here may be Ireland's answer to him. In today’s video, we’re featuring Irish* man Dr. Brian O'Doherty from the program Invitation to Art, speaking softly about art pieces in the episode, The Art of Ireland. This video is especially meaningful as it featured Lough Gill, Co. Leitrim one of the greatest places on the planet in this channel's completely unbiased opinion! More about this episode below!
* He may not be Irish! He sounds pretty Irish to me and I'm Irish but a lot of people are saying he was from Boston!
--- Our Edits ---
The edits that were done on this video were focused mainly on taking out any parts that weren't overly relaxing, like when the host talks faster and some other loud moments from the original broadcast that we've cut. These audio enhancements were specifically done to achieve maximum ASMR triggers. In this video’s best unintentional ASMR moments, we tidied up the audio and removed some non-relaxing noises which broke the monotonous sound and did our usual thing! Hope you like our edits and let us know what you found relaxing or not relaxing in this video.
--- Original Video ---
Invitation to Art was a series that explores man and the world around him through the eyes of past and present artists at the time. It also aims to develop an understanding of art as a direct expression of universal emotions. Dr. Brian O'Doherty is an Irish poet, painter, and art critic, brings a fresh, witty and warmly human point of view to the visual arts. He was formerly an art critic and reviewer for the Dublin Magazine and lecturer at the National Gallery of Ireland. In this episode, O’Doherty showcases paintings by Irish painters James Barry and Frederick William Burton with subjects that originated in or focuses on Ireland, housed by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

I may be wrong, but I'm relatively sure he's not Irish.
I crave more well spoken, thoughtful, gentle 50s recordings like this
I'm not "going through" anything. I just love the tingles
In The History of the Irish Wolfdog, (section 65, pp. 41-42) Fr. Edmund Hogan notes one of the letters of Sir William Temple to Dorothy Osborne, his secret fiancee, explaining how Irish lords of clans would have a poet, a doctor, a huntsman, a smith… but also an official tale-teller. (They don’t have the Irish, so I don’t know if it’s a seanachie.) One of Temple’s friends had gone hunting with one of these lords, and was too tired and ill at night to be able to sleep. So the lord called on his tale-teller to help this guy out, as he did when the lord was depressed and/or could not sleep.
I didn't search for this but now that I am here, I realize this is exactly what I need. it's perfect
Nice one. thanks for this 🙂👍
Can't wait to listen to this tonight. 😍
Not only is it very relaxing, but a nice piece of WGBH history!
Like an Irish Twilight Zone.
I’m “here for the tingles” but am also here because “I’m going through something.” In fact, we all are. It’s called Life. To paraphrase Walt Whitman, I’m vast. I contain multitudes.
I'm not even watching this for the tingles, they just don't make telly like this anymore.
Ayo new video let’s GOOO!
If you like this guy’s voice, listen to the album “IBM 1401” by Johann Johannsson
id love to see some more infos about the topic in the title or thumbnail... i just scroll past anything that doesnt sound like atleast a little interesting topic
Someone sampled this
Saint Mathews is doing the hidden hand.🧐🤔😱🤫🤫🤫
From the 1950s? 1960s?
Good tingles but I'm skeptical of the more than likely outdated scholarship underpinning many of the claims made.
He looks like Patrick Bateman 😂
