Great species to work with. I just got my first one down in Florida. Just a little one compared to yours. I’d think by the current size of yours it’s getting close to its final height. Those shown at the intro are absolutely beautiful. Good luck developing yours. Thanks
@@SidsTrees I thought he was saying Hi and asking if Storm (our gsd) was okay with all the horrible weather....as he(Cooper) was struggling with the wind too?? But....still working on my doggo/human translations so could've heard it wrong haha. Seriously though, as you always say to us, Please stay safe 💖😊
Mine will spend late spring through summer and up to late autumn in a container of water. I was told they would not stand being in water if it froze so took it out till danger of frost is past. Mind we havent had a particularly cold winter so far.
It's a strongly growing tree. I think it will benefit the trunk line greatly in the long term. Short term it does look drastic I'll admit. Im just going to water and feed it well for this year and I'm sure it will do well.
Have you ever stumbled across Zach Smith's blog called "Bonsai South?" He's in the southern U.S. and does a ton of po...BALD cypress collecting and has lots of examples of flat tops. Excellent step by step images of progressions as well. Check out Bonsai-South(dot com) and go to the "bonsai files" tab at the top right to see his running blog posts.
I will check it out. I first saw the flat top style on john Geneangels you tube and was fascinated by the trees he creates. Bills Bayou is another one. Thanks for the info.
Beautiful tree as always
Thank you. A long way to go yet but definitely making progress

Going to be a stunner Sid! can't wait 👍 and there was me thinking Cooper was saying hello to us 😉🐾 See ya in the next one! 💖👍😊
Thanks Karin. Maybe I was mistaken about Cooper. What was he saying to you again?

Im curious about how this tree is doing?
It seemed to sulk for a while and took a while to get going this spring but is growing well now. I'll post an update later this year. Stay safe
Hi Sid. From what iv'e seen do they not normally have their feet in water? And i think they develop toes as well. Sod it iv'e just ordered one

Nice one Sid, Did you save the cuttings? Bald cypress make great forests as well :).
☹I didn't. I'm trying to be good. Tbh though it's a little late in the season for hard wood cuttings anyway.🙂
I have a long time project on taxodium distichum too. Are you sure about that drastic pruning?

Thanks for the heads up. Checked out his blog and got some great info.
@@SidsTrees It's one of my daily check-ins and has been for a while. I love his style and what he is able to produce.
