  • The Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG is definitely hard to teach and also hard to convince someone to play it. So here I ask the question : How Could Introduce Yu-Gi-Oh! To New/Returning Players ? I hope what I mentionned in the video can someday happen :)

I love this game but since duel monster i didn't touch it. The way i can handle it to watch History of Yugioh by Cimoo then go to formatlibrary pick up tons of meta deck play at that time, then duel with myself or other people if the format is popular (Goat, Reaper, Edison), just to make me familiar with the card, because most of the time, the problem of yugioh is how massive is is, newer player want slower pace, but when i progress myself through the history of yugioh, i find it more fun to play with fast pace. Also familiar with the card is alway a massive plus, they summon whatever, i can know, ahh they play abcxyz . Then i know how their deck work generally, most of the time, newer player also find trouble read the card, it not about, it about it super fast special summon out the boss monster with all the searcher, protector,...
But this just for myself, if I can introduce to my friends, i would like to introduce the start of yugioh, then progress to Goat format, if they patience enough, if not, i just play this game for myself lol

I have had a few ideas on how to fix the game or if we are not gonna go to that extreme, to just make a new more new player friendly format:
    1) (You have heard this a lot, but I think this needs to be done)
Remove cards that stop your opponent's actions. Aka negates and floodgates of any sort. There are times where you have to overcome the opponent's board that somehow affects yours, like reducing your monster's atk or something, but LIMITING what a player can do is just really annoying and I see no meaning in that.
    2) This is a bit much, but how about fixing deckbuilding. So, I have been playing a game called "Shadowverse" for some time. There there are the 7 "classes" that divide each card. It is kinda like "Cardfight Vanguard", but a bit better since there can be cards with way different mechanics than each othee in the same class and also "Neutral" class cards that can be added in any deck. So I was thinking that we could like restrict deck-building by simply putting a restiction that "You can only play cards from the same archetype together or cards that share the archetype's type or attribute if they actually have synergy" except for staples which will be like neutral cards and can be added to any deck.
Now you are gonna tell me:
"But people already do that with deck-building on their own. What is the point of this new restriction?"
    And to that I say:
"That is the point! It will not dramatically change how deck-building works, but it will certainly limit the mix of archetypes that just have synergy together and nothing else (for example Tear Ishizu). Also I have gotten rid of cards that limit the opponent, so decks like Dragon Link that already follow my deck-building limit, can still function and play like always. It will just not contain restricting cards, so it will maybe just spam big dragons with protection or a different form of interaction besides negates or restictions for the opponent. That will certainly make the deck not so playable and that is the point. It will not just be a missmatch of every good dragon in the game to end on a generic negate board. Each archetype will have its own dragons to play with and do their thing and we will not have degenerate deck ideas like this or the previously mentioned Ishizu Tear.
So what are your thoughts on the matter?

Yeah I think removing some floodgates might help people enjoy the game a bit better even though they've always been a thing in Yu-Gi-Oh!. Your second point is definitely pretty interesting, seems like a pretty unique way to prevent some abusable combos like the Ishizu Tear you've mentionned. Altough I do feel like it removes the fun aspect of finding some combos with unrelated cards. It feels like it's something worth trying out tho :O

Ehhh not a fan of the idea of getting rid of negates or giving the game classes like SV, Vanguard, Buddyfight, etc.
Maybe it’s cause I was a dragon link main once but that feels like it’ll box the creativity
If you axe negates then the meta will probably become worse actually as combo decks can make whatever the hell they want with no interruptions
And overpowered cards are still overpowered no matter the power level of the game
Floodgates can be thrown in the incinerator tho

@@JustANewHunter I mean without negates, what kinda crazy endboards will they end on. Board wipes? Most of the them are either banned or outright unplayable in their decks like the prank kids fusion. The only deck off the top of my head that would build a nasty board is gonna be Blackwing which brings the triple assault dragon and you basically can only play 4 cards. That is crazy, but that is why the banlist exists.
My suggestion is how to fix the game in general.
Sure some cards will still be crazy because they are crazy themselves. That is why you just ban those and you are done.

      @@NoirEmperor18 late response but
      first of all
      battle butler was unplayable?
      second of all
i can name multiple decks that can still make disruptions, namely Branded

@@JustANewHunter I mean without the Link 1 prank kids has basivally died. The only thing that they can do well is use their fusions for summoning or just an extra body for their plays.
Battle Butler is a very good board wipe, but that is it for the deck most of the times. A single board wipe. Which sounds powerful, but with how many decks benefit from being sent to the gy or how many extenders they have, this doesn't say much. Still good, but a bit powercrept.
I mean Branded is also a deck that is quite frightening cause it uses just its monsters and most likely nothing else, but as I said the banlist exists for a reason.
Of course my suggestion will have a few holes for some decks, but the banlist I think could balance them (if they get the correct hits).

You don't. Nobody should play this garbage. It needs a reboot.
