Thanks for the feedback . hope it helps. we were worried about all the paperwork and checks and worried we might arrive and not have everything. That is why I thought I'd share it to help others. thanks
Man! That seems detailed and involved. I used to wonder why guys were complaining about traveling to Thailand 🇹🇭 now I see why. I wouldn’t want to jump through that many hoops.
Just arrived back in Phuket again last night. The checking this time only took an extra 10 minutes. Very fast and efficient. Not an issue. In a week or so , no thai pass needed either
Thanks hopefully they will have the boarder open. They closed the boarder for new Thai pass applications a day or so ago . Closed for 14 days at present.
Happy to help. I know we had questions and worried that we had everything we needed when travelling here. So I decided to make a video for others. Have a great trip.
No problem, all the paperwork can sometimes make you worry if you have missed anything or need more. In the end it was quite organised and a sensible system.
The best video I've seen on the procedures for arrival in Thailand. Do you know if there is still a curfew in Bangkok or a ban on the serving of alcohol?
Yes I have a friend that runs a restaurant bar in Bangkok and they can’t serve alcohol. I just checked now and officially they are allowed to open up on the 15th of January . HOWEVER, if the bar pays the local police they can sell alcohol now. Those places might have a “special” sign out front. In tourist areas Like Phuket, Phi Phi, Krabi there is no Ban.
No the test I had at the airport in Phuket was less irritating than the one I had in Sydney before flying. Maybe depends on the person testing but the I guess the airport people in Phuket are doing it all day long and get good at it.
Very helpful. Did you enter the Phuket Sandbox or the Test and Go? I ask since you said once you get the test result you are free to leave your hotel go anywhere you like. I don't know if that is for 7 days in Phuket or if you can leave the island if you wish. Thank you for sharing these helpful steps in entering Phuket.
Entered on test and go. We stayed in Phuket for 5 nights then moved to phi phi island. There was no requirement that I know of to stay longer than 1 night in Phuket . Going to phi phi they wanted to see your paper work negative tests again on the wharf . I have made another video on this , just need to do the voice over still. After phi phi we went to Krabi and no checks at all. Hope that helps
nice mate im heading to bangkok next thursday nz through singapore way. bit worried i had covid 3 weeks ago and cant find a place to get a certificate of recovery i heard that i will need
I got Covid in Thailand and to fly back to Australia I needed a letter from the doctor saying I was no longer infectious and had to show the date I first tested positive. As long as it was 14 days since I tested positive I was OK to fly. So I showed them the doctors letter, my original test result with date and because I was isolated in a Thai hospitel ( hospital hotel ) I showed them that documentation also. They just want to know you are no longer able to spread the virus. 3 weeks is plenty.
only flights i can find till January are all transit through Singapore, they require 48 hours pcr test before flight, what service did you use in Australia to have a pcr test returned with a quick turn around ??? flights returning to Melbourne around January 16 are all direct to Melbourne normal jet star flights but getting there its all transit, there are some places in the city are charging $300 for same day results but i find that a bit steep , any tips so i am not stressing
I just looked up the govt site and also just clicked on the link on the site that says what the rules are. They listed approved locations. The test was $150 each. Forget about the private clinics. The govt approved one we used got the test done and results in 24 hours no extra charge. We did it on the Monday and flew out on the Wednesday. Did the test at mascot, it is great here at the moment , no mass of tourists.
Great video…Thanks. Which airport/country did you leave from? What was the total time from landing to getting into the transport? Which hotel in Phuket? Cheers.
Left from Sydney / Australia. From landing to transport was about 40 mins. Not many people when we came through. I’ll do some Phuket hotels videos soon. We stayed at The Surin, `( brilliant ) , La Flora ( very good ) , The Shore at Kathatani ( wonderfull ) , Banyan Tree , ( great stay ) , we also went to the islands, Phi Phi, railay, Krabi, Koh Lanta, Ko Lipe. I’ll do videos on all those soon also
I believe one checkpoint kept 1 copy of the Thai pass, but another person I saw got their copy back. I carried 2 printed copies of everything and a digital version . Printed in case internet is down or offline or loose phone. Paper is easier to hand to people across a counter. I put the paper copies in A4 sized clear plastic sleeves to keep the together and easy sliding in and out of bag pockets
Test and go. If test and go is available to your country then that is a lot better. Test at airport , go to hotel and wait for negative result , then you are free
Sir Thank you for your excellent Video. I just wanted to ask how many hours if you went in Immigration and to the baggage area? Did you waited for an hour? Because i have my self transfer, im just afraid that im gonna Miss my connecting flight
When we came through there were not many people waiting at all. The extra checking and testing only added around maybe 20 minutes to the normal clearance .However if the rows of chairs were full of people then I would say an hour maybe added , depending on how many staff were on hand. I think that at the moment there has been a drop in flights because of the recent Omicron out break. A friend told me his JetStar flight from Sydney toPhuket had been cancelled in February due to test and go being halted temporarily . I heard that they have resumed the test and go program again yesterday ( late January. ) so may be more flights will arrive.
If you can get away with just hand carry and travel light it simplifies things. I always end up carrying things I never use so if it is just hand carry that speeds up things dramatically on the entire trip. good idea
@@globebug i dont have any Choice Sir, it really makes me crazy, thinking what to do, its already late when i found that i have this self transfer ah yah, again Thank you so much Sir😍
Hi Do you need to print a copy of RT PCR test and give them a copy for them to scan it or can show it from the phone and they will scan it? Thanks in advance
My advice is to take 2 printed copies. At the airport the first checking station took one of my copies . It just made it easier to hand to them a sheet of paper rather than hand over your phone to them . They probably touch hundreds of phones per day so keeping your phone on you is better. Unless you take phone wipes. Also if you loose your phone or the battery goes then you have nothing. Side note. I have also found many of the boat companies doing tours want to see your test results. And entering walking street they check your temperature and on New Years wanted to see proof of double vaccination. In those cases the phone copy is easiest because they are not behind glass and you can hold your phone. And just flash them the screen. Hope that helps.
nice video , wonder if u could answer my question i have my thailand pass and its been accepted i have 2 copies on paper of the qr code and on my phone as well, what else do i need to bring in order to pass imigration im guessing the qr code is all i need and everything is on it? i do have 2 copies of my insurence, and a copy of my asq hotel for 1 night, do i need to provide them with where i will stay for the next 2 week since i was planing on booking there as i arrive,
Probably can show on the phone but much better to hand them a printed copy. I don’t like handing my phone to anyone now. You should also have the printed PCR test booking that you pre paid . You can then just hand them the pre paid test booking and it speeds things up. We did not tell them where we would move to after the first stay . Just the hotel details for night 1.
@@globebug when u arrived in thailand did u need to show the negative pcr test ? and did that pcr tes have a qr code or does it require qr code for negative test 72 hrs before departure
We carried our negative test results that we tested in Sydney 72 hours before departure for Thailand. Just the one that was emailed to us for the test lab
We have not had any tests at hotels. The test is done at the airport when you arrive and the hotel picks you up and checks you in to your room where you stay until the test results show negative. Our test results came through around 5 hours after our tests at the airport. It took 1 hour to get from the airport to Surin beach , so we had about 4 hours in our room before being free to go anyway we wanted.
Last night I took a risk in going to the New Year’s Eve party in BANGLA RD . it was a great night and got wild. However to get into the road they checked your temp and you had to show proof of vaccinations. Still a big risk in the huge crowd wedged together. In general Phuket, phi phi, Krabi, Ko Lanta and Ko Lipe have all felt safe and relatively normal. I don’t think snorkelling with no one around is a high risk . It is great to see Thailand with far less tourists , less boats, less of the noisy , rude, uneducated, pushy, unaware type tourists. Still some idiots around but in general it’s a breath of fresh air and they need the business and appreciate the tourist dollar / baht. The Thai smile and service is second to none. I say travel now, don’t wait.
The whole Thai Pass process is a nightmare. Nothing works and you are out of your own pockets at the end even though it was their systems and processes that are not working.
We did it ourselves and did not use the third party companies that advertise to get a Thai pass for you. It is something that can be done online by yourself. However the first time we applied it did not say you needed to provide evidence that you had already pre paid and booked the PCR test in Thailand. So the first time we applied our applications were rejected. They then updated their site to tell people you needed to pre pay and show the PCR booking. Second time round ( free again ) we got the Thai pass no issue and no cost other than time. However all the paper work and arranging tests etc can be overwhelming and you always wonder is that everything covered.
Thanks for your concern, yes the breathing was loud. I had the camera on my chest right below my mouth and started the trip with a three layer mask. Didn’t use that mask again on the trip , it was just too hot. The combination of the walk dragging my heavy equipment bag, thick mask and sudden heat and humidity made my breathing heavier. I don’t think the Covid lock down in Sydney helped my fitness either.
This is by far the best and clearest video I’ve seen regarding the step-by-step process of entering Thailand in Phuket!
