Loved this really interesting and educational review, Diane. I have enjoyed listening to you talk about the properties of each colour. Thank you ! Very helpful 🤩💕
I love paul rubins WC. It's my favorite go to. They are not granulating. But are easy to work on fast sketch and paint. I have great things to say about these affordable paints. ❤❤❤❤
Enjoyed listening to the swatching process while I was swarching some of my own palletes. It was very interesting and helpful to hear your thoughts on what you could use the various colors for. Thank you for taking the time to share.
I like that you took the time to go through each and every color because sometimes when people do a time lapse, it is hard to figure out things like the names and the pigment information. I did zoom in close to the names, but I did not see any pigment information… Most can probably be figured out based on their names, but some companies don’t always necessarily use the same pigments and sometimes use mixes and may call it something like cadmium red, for example.
Yes, I can’t see much point in a sped-up video of swatching. The whole point to me is the reaction of the paint on the swatch paper. Which you can’t see if it’s sped up! I didn’t go into the pigment numbers because of the amount of extra time it would have taken. 48 pans is a lot - but I will say they are mostly single pigments and mix cleanly because of it.
Hi Diane, you may be able to unscrew the metal rows and turn them around (2 of them) so they are installed correctly? I noticed the screw when you took out the burnt sienna. Hopefully it works 😊
I DO want to mix colours but am struggling to find an affordable brand (tubes are great!) of colours that are true, and not slightly blued/white/greyed/yellow as so many seem to be. But my budget is that of a pauper so maybe I just need to be satisfied with paints at all, muddy colours or not!
The cost in Canada is $99.00 CDN (currently a coupon for $10.00 can be applied) that is a little beyond my budget - so I guess I better learn how to mix colours and look for the 12 colour set! 😂😂😂
Often when I swatch my colors, I do not add the color name. I see now that I need to do that so that I can do a better job with mixing. I am very willy nilly when I mix and just see what turns out!
And a really stupid question Are colour names exact across the board? So burnt sienna or Naples yellow will always exactly the same minus pigment quality? I always figured it was the same as cosmetics….. each brand of lipstick or nail polish has diff shades and hues and quirky names. But in art medium, do the names reference a standardized colour? I’m relatively new to this amazing channel (last couple months!) so therefore if there’s a video on pigments I’ve missed in trying to catch up that anyone sees pls tell me! 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Finally- the 12 main colours Dianne referenced that can pretty much mix up anything….. if anyone has a brand/pallet to recommend for this pls comment ! Thank you so much
Very nice Paul Rubens! There's some colors in this palette I really like Diane ~ Awesome swatches! ❤️✝️🙏🏻
Loved this really interesting and educational review, Diane.

Thank you !
Very helpful 🤩💕
So glad you enjoyed that!
Diane this quite a revealing (and exciting) way to analyze color!!! Thanks si much for your wise commentary. ❤
You are so welcome!
Thank you. Yeah I was awake through the whole thing. Lololol ☺️.
Green is so essential! Thank you for swatching all these colors! Sap green is beautiful!
Olive green is natures favorite green.
Cobalt turquoise deep is so pretty! Sepia is so necessary in nature painting for animals and trees.

Yes, I agree, although we can easily mix greens the ready-mades are lovely to have on hand!
Looks like a good pallet for landscapes, especially if you are mostly concentrating on the sky or it's a Fall scene
I have the 24 pan set and I love it

Enjoyed your comments about various colors and their history. Thanks Diane.
You’re so welcome!
I love your reviews 😊😊
Thanks so much Chantelle!
Very interesting and I did stay awake. I enjoyed your comments on each colour. Thank you
Wonderful!

I really love you sharing your knowledge of all these colors. I learned a lot (now, if only I retain a portion of that I'll be happy 😂)!
Very interesting! * I really miss hearing your dogs, cockerels, and birds during your videos!
We’ll soon be back home to the noisy crew!
I love the blue colors
And the violets and purples!
I love the set of larger pans of so ma ny yellows!
@RenaMiller-u1v Yes, I love yellows. The different shades can make a huge difference in mixing.
Ask them to bring out the other 24 colors in the 48 set that weren’t in the original 24 set ! we’d love to have it- instead of buying the entire set.
Still awake!😊

No, it’s not a screw, it’s a rivet. We thought of that. No chance. I think I would just buy a new empty tin from Blicks!
@ , shoot, thought it could be an easy fix. New empty pallet it is 😄
I would like to know where you got the paint palette you were showing when talking about the use of the tin. Thank you.
Its a lovely set... on Amazon they list the colors but not the pigments. I wouldn't pay $80 without the pigment information. ❤
Ido that’s the $80 to Blowon watercolors!
I love the set of larger pans of so many yellows! Whyare yellows mostly transparent???
Good question!

Especially when you’ve got 48 colors - hard to keep them straight if you don’t label them. I often lose track of them!
Are you staying in Cairo for just a season or a long while?
@daydreambeliever6603 I was wondering that too. Buying furniture sounds like a long stay! 😮
We do have a home here in New Cairo and are hoping to be able to spend winters here in the future.
And a really stupid question

Blueplusbrown makes black???
Yes, pretty much!
EVERYTHING is more expensive in the UK, Diane.
Probably true!
Way too many colours for me. I don’t like those big palettes
IWould never make a decision as to which colors to use!much less to mix more!
Too many choices for beginners like me! Brown is necessary for landscapes and nature
