super random but im at 18:00 and is it common everyone has a song that plays when they call? i noticed this when they called dokyeom and a keshi song played and ive seen it throughout the years in various korean media too. is there an option for this on american cells and i just missed the memo?
As an (older) American, I can tell you they’re called “ringback tones” here. I remember they were a new trendy think like 10 years ago. Not long after you could to buy an individual ringtone, that wasn’t 8-bit, they allowed you to purchase ringback tones too. It depends on your service provider, but I think some companies still let you have one. A quick google search says Verizon stopped their ringback tones in 2020, but some might still be available. I wonder if they’ll still make you pay for each song individually though 🤔

That's called ColorRing! It's actually a service Korean telecoms provides since I was young and it's pretty common :)
