I don't know how much of this you know already, so sorry if I'm over explaining. I'm Norwegian, so I know a little from school, but I'm by no means an expert. But to give you a little bit of context: The marvel super hero Thor (as well as other characters from those movies/comic books such as Loki and Odin) are inspired from old Norse Mythology. In Norwegian the god's name is spelled like Tor, and in the Norse mythology (as well as in other versions of Germanic paganism) he is one of the very prominent gods, associated with thunder. Tor/Thor is still used to this day as a firstname in some (if not all) of the Nordic countries and perhaps also other countries outside of the Nordic as well (I dont know how widespread it is). And in Norway at least it's pronounced with the same(ish) t-sound that the Koreans use for the name. Funfact, many of the names of the weekdays are originally named after Norse/old germanic gods, and Thursday is named after Tor/Thor.
