    Good morning Sean, what a pleasure to walk the mountains to hear the water falls, Water has memory and keeps flowing over rocks and down through gullies, time and time again just as often as we walk in footsteps left by our ancestors.To see all this moves something inside of us, a memory triggered, an awakening of another time, yet still the streams run into rivers down hillsides cascading into a valley just as your own ancestors stood amongst the greenery in awe of Mother Earth. Great to see and feel. 🤗👏

    Must be bittersweet visiting your childhood haunts and thinking of family no longer here. We always went to Bridlington on the east coast for out hols, last week in July, first week in August, pit weeks, we always went to Sewerby Park with its gardens and little zoo. Its more or less the same now and its near enough to go on a day trip. Happy memories of time past and there's a cafe where you can get a nice cup of tea 😊

      I live near Brid, and went to school there for six years. Yes, Sewerby is lovely. The beach at Brid has lovely. firm sand. My Grandma went to Brid for a week every summer. I could never understand the attraction, especially after being at school there. One year, she bought herself a gold watch, which I wear on a daily basis.

    This video really brings back memories. Back in 1972, I was on a geography course at the CoE in Caerdydd. We had a few trips out to look at various things including Cwm Sgwd Gwladus, Porth-yr-ogof, and Bwa maen (think that's how to spell it), We also visited the silica mine and those marks in the stones would, indeed, be connected with the tramway that took the loaded wagons away from the mine. We discovered the incline where they were lowered down, although it must be much changed now. And afterwards a welcoming piunt at the Angel in Pont Nedd Fechan!! Brains I think it was. For bringing back a happy memory, diolch yn fawr!!

    lovely walk Sean. I used to go there a lot when I was able, as well as the falls at Ystradfellte. Further on from Sgwd Gwladys (Lady Falls) is Sgwd Einon Gam (Fall of the Crooked Anvil). I doubt you'd have made it there that day though as there is no path for the last part and you have to cross the river three times to get there! Sgwd Ddwli Upper and Lower falls are also there (if you turned right at the bridge) but much more accessible.
    They used to mine silica there and also there are dynamite works in the area too. I've had a couple of strange, ghostly experiences at the falls!!
    Over in the Swansea Valley is Henrhyd Falls, used as the entrance to he Bat Cave in Batman Rises 🙂

    Enjoyed thinking about the concept of raw milk and its safety. It’s currently illegal to sell it on the high street in the UK and is only available direct from registered producers usually at farms or online as per Sean’s purchase. For obvious reasons raw milk isn’t going to be ‘safer’ on average than pasteurised milk. A 2019 Public Health review found raw milk the cause between 1992-2017 for 26 outbreaks of intestinal infectious disease (involving 343 people and resulting in 41 hospitalisations). Pasteurised milk over that same period was the cause of 12 outbreaks. It should be noted however that raw milk producers have samples tested four times per year and the FSA thinks that risk from it isn’t so unacceptable that adults shouldn’t have the right to drink it but believe there should be further improvements to manage the risk. The jury is still out on the whole raw v pasteurised milk debate and whether there are certain benefits in raw milk potentially removed via pasteurisation - so as with most things in life it’s best one does their own research and whether they may perhaps personally benefit from consuming one over the other. Would be interesting to hear from anyone who currently drinks raw milk and their experiences with it 🤠🐮

      Its not for me i know someone who got ill on it i buy fresh jersey milk pasteurised from my local farm but not raw

    • @moominmay
      @moominmay Місяць тому +8

      @@wales123100 yeah must admit unless more scientific data came out definitively proving the benefits (which is probably years off) I personally wouldn’t risk it - especially with an aging body as well it’s harder to fight off illness and regain health back!

    • @moominmay
      @moominmay Місяць тому +4

      @@Buzzj4k agree and for me personally anyway it’s a bit disconcerting that by law the raw milk products have to declare that due to not being heat treated, they ‘may contain organisms harmful to health’. Also, European regulations as a whole on things like additives are a whole lot stricter than the US for example and I’m very glad for it - there’s enough rubbish already in a lot of the processed stuff we already buy!

    Hello, I once worked with a retired diary farmer. The thing he said about raw milk was that you have to consume it in a timely manner. I think you're playing with fire, freezing it and defrosting it. Does the farm say you can freeze it? It's easy for milk to spoil when you're trying to defrost in the best of circumstances. Just drink it and enjoy it - fast!.

    • @seanjamescameron

      We had a Jersey cow My ma would milk her 2× per day .She sometimes skimmed the cream for dad's coffee and we drank the rest and she cooked with it. We had an ice box cooled by a block of ice! Some days we churned the milk for butter. She placed it on cheesecloth and rinsed and Pat the butter in a mold !'The leftover buttermilk was cooled in the ice box It was used for cooking and light n fluffy biscuits or pancakes with butter and syrup or jam ! Ma would drink it in the summer! We all grew up healthy and fit. Grandpa sent the vet out yearly to ensure our grass fed cow was healthy! Nothing better than milk straight from a healthy , happy cow ! 🎉

      Ps. Our biscuits are a type of bread roll. We didnt have loaf bread. The rolls are placed on a preheated griddle in the oven and baked. Sometimes the whole dough ball was placed in a preheated skillet and pressed flat cooked on the range. It was flipped halfway while cooking and cut into pieces at meal time! 🎉

    Good idea keeping the wool and straw from your raw milk and yoghurt deliveries - also I'd keep that foil insulated bag might come in useful! I don't really know much about raw milk, other than it's supposed to have more goodness in it. Will be interesting to hear your opinion once you've tried some. Take care, until next time.

I love rivers and waterfalls and now I think I need to take a wander down by Lake Ontario to see the water and beaches. We also have some immensely beautiful parks in this province and since it is summer I should o and enjoy them, I use to take my children all the time 30 years ago, it made them into nature lovers and my late daughter use to paint the landscape and rivers. You've brought back memories of my teenage years when you mentioned the Morris Traveller.
    I lived in West Virginia and wanted to buy my first car. I found an especially cute Morris Mini Minor that a neighbor had brought back with them from being stationed overseas. They wanted $100 for it! What a deal. However, no matter how much I begged, my grandmother would not let me buy the car as she felt it was too small, and with my shifting abilities, I would be in danger!
    So I said, "Goodbyes" to the car of my dream but never forgot it ❤

    I make my own Kefir because it's the easiest and highest number of Probiotic. I don't get sick when i have it, but I get quite sick if I eat supermarket milk/cheese. In New Jersey raw milk isn't allowed so our milk is ultra pasteurized which means it gets heat up to 180F (just pasteurized is 160F) what happens is at that high temperature it changes the molecule of the milk and stops "being milk". Also, it kills all bacteria and yeast that help us that are not cows to digest milk proteins. So if u get raw milk has every needed for us to digest and too steong for u can dilute with a bit of spring water.

Butter looks gorgeous ! we make our own from raw cream but in big batches as its a 3hr drive each way to pick up the cream once a month. Just cannot be beaten on taste. I grew up on a farm, milk came straight from the chiller in the morning & tasted of grass and me mam made the best farmhouse butter for miles around.

    Gorgeous walk and seeing the falls and the sound of them made me feel like I was right there with you .
    Don’t forget to eat or freeze the salmon if you can’t fix it before your friends leave. Would hate you to not eat it before it spoils
    Take care and see you soon.❤❤❤

    My siblings and I were bought up on raw milk. Dad ran a smallholding he had a jersey cow and the milk from that cow was like cream .The only test that I know it had was for TB . As it passed the test we were OK to drink it. Dad would come home with a churn of milk mum would strain it through some muslin,put it in mason jars and put it in the fridge. We had it neat, mum cooked with it as in puddings etc. Today's milk is tasteless compared to that milk I remember.

    I couldn't count the number of times I have been to Dan Yr Ogaf caves. I first went when I was a young boy with my family in the early to mid 60s. It's expanded a great deal now and has added attractions.

    I grew up in North Carolina, USA. We had raw milk from my grandparents' farm. I think now you can not sell raw milk to people in NC, only for animal food.
    As far as I know no one was ever ill from my grandmother's milk, butter or eggs. That is how she made her money while my grandfather, aunt and uncles grew peaches, cotton, vegetables and flowers for sell.
    We just saw walterfalls in the Pisgah National Forest in the Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina on vacation.

    If you want a little car, get a Hyundai i10! A Morris Traveller would be wonderful but it'd be forever at the mechanic shop xD Very enjoyable Sean, I could listen to your lovely voice and memories all day, you are such a natural. Loved how you inserted your old film at the falls

    Dwli ar Pont Nedd Fechan - Love Pont Neath Vaughn. You can reach Scwd Yr Eira from Dinas Rock a little up the valley from the Angel. You can walk behind Scwd Yr Eira. Hen Rhyd falls is nearby at Ceolbren on the way to Dan Yr Ogof. It's the hightest single drop fall in South Wales. So many magical places to visit just on your doorstep. Lovely video. Diolch.

    Oh forgot to mention , dont forget to take some milk out of the raw milk cartons before putting in the freezer as the milk expands the same as pasteurised milk. 🥛 🐮 💐

    That was a great walk you had with your friends, the waterfalls were magnificent but so powerful. Wean yourself off Too Good to Waste Sean and save up for a Morris Traveller. No don't do that I like to see what you buy.
