The look, the garments, the hair, the make up, the dance..That's all kinds of African sexy...
Word To Yo Manner yes but don’t suit Diana image
@@jaajaarogers9101 hi.. you mean the image.. that was created for her?..... anyway.... skinny people.. make me hungry!!!.. every time i see frail meager people.. my belly start growl... and i must find something to eat QUICKLY!
. and one next thing... if it wasn't for her oldest daughter..... the black one...... marrying and procreating.. with black man..... diana African blood line. would be finished.. dead.. and gone!....Thank Yemaya and the father for the one who is named rhonda!....... be blessed
Very
I've never seen Miss Ross in an "Afrocentric" light until I watched this. Damn, could she dance! She gave me all kinds of feels😏
I just wonder if Mz. Ross is a descendant of the house of Ross Stewart ( King James line..they still won't tell the fact that Harriet Tubman Stewart is also from this line
of Jacobite Kings 👑)
#tellthetruthhollywood
@@thegrandcanyonisegypt2489 hi.. .. .... why you people.. always trying to hitch your star to .. pink wagon...............???.... is a question... i would love to know answer.. to..........if you are 1 black person................thanks... be blessed
Ednise Augustin she was not good in this video
I was 8 years old when this television special, "TCB" came on just before Christmas. It was a very big deal at the time.
My father was born Halloween 1960 I was literally thinking he was 8 the year this aired.
Btw I'm also Detroit native! Still here.😊💖
@D J He was 8. I was born one month before your Dad, same year.
@D J Hey DJ! That means you're very intelligent and strong!
ditto... l was 9 or 10 and remember never wanting it to end , l was bitten that night and knew l'd be addicted to this woman from that point on...l am now at age 60 am a recovered Diana Ross Addict lol!!! clean and very over it for some 30 + yrs now
All I can say is "Wow"! Didn't know she was into African dance. Way to go, Ms. Ross!
Ms. Ross turned down money offered her by South Africa's notoriously racist Sin City and overall refused to perform under an apartheid regime which many other so called "Black" artists jumped on the next plane and sold out. RESPECT to Ms. Ross, you dig.
Tracy Sharp I think many blacks in the USA didn’t even know about Apartheid until very late. It was never discussed in media or depicted in movies to my knowledge.
I didn’t know of it until the 80s and my parents didn’t know until I told them.
Only one black person I knew had known of it and she was an activist.
Don’t blame the average person, blame the media, schools and Hellyweird.
Diana will ALWAYS be 🔥
this is RARE, that's why I love UA-cam
Yolanda Johnson
...why we love ReelBlack✊🏿✊🏿
Yolanda Johnson , cancel culture declares this not black enough, offensive and Diana is too old. Billie Ellis does not know her so Diana must be canceled.
I was just watching mahogany last night. I absolutely love that movie
I watched Lady Sings the Blues. I love Mahogany, also, and that TV movie she did. Oh - and the Wiz (of course).
"Success is NOTHING without someone you love to share it with......" Oh another time! seeing Mahogany in the cinema some months after first seeing her in Concert in London.....
Adorable. And she is African. She has liberian ancestry and still has family out there. Michael wrote Liberian girl ( and tons more songs 4 her)...He was hopelessly in love with her...
No she doesn't. Who told you that lie. Child please, go head with all that.
@@sharjjahnaziz4122 Yes. She is. Look it up. She still has fam in liberia. Her sister Barbara talked about it in her book! So U go some where!
Wow the fact that I didn't make the connection between her and the Liberian girl song until now is sad lol
Fine ass
Omg! I didnt know that was for her. Wow!
I'm impressed ! I always thought of her as some one that only does what's needed for her style of music but this is real classy and her African fashion & choice of materials to show off the cuts are stunning . Reminds me of Beyoncé because the moves where syncopated correctly as an African tasteful energetic feminine classic choreography . I'm blown away at miss D Ross talent .😃😌😉👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤️
You must admit she has serious skills shaking what she ain't got. Much respect.
Right when being ultra skinny was the standard of beauty
lol : )
@Alain Quartermaine if you saw Mahogany the whole delimma of why they are not going to choose her as a MODEL in Italy is because she is not well endowed. If Ms Ross can make fun of herself in the movie she had a big hand in, why can't we as fans be in on the joke?
So proud of you ❤️ Ms Ross recognizing your Roots and African heritage
Go Lady! Thanks, have never seen this.
I love her, and always will...🔥🔥💝💝✨✨🌟🌟💥💥🎶🎶🎵🎵🎼🎼
I love this! Why have I never seen it? Diana fan since the 60s.
..see this!? *...YOU SEE THIS!!?* ..Miss Ross serving AFRO VOGUE (to middle class white folk) back in 1968; this was a BIG to-do, 'cause African Dance / Culture wasn't prominently featured on major networks in the 60's....Diana's dance showed the World she was VERY much in tune with her 'heritage', & opened the doors for People to view 'other' cultures that instinctively display their being(s).... I miss the 'wink' in the last shot, though ...ha-HAA! (1:13) ..viva Miss ROSS!!
A Supreme legend she is💙 always loved this.
Love Ms. Ross, even thru all her success and struggles, she knew she is a Queen!💃👸💚
I didn't see this part..i like it! TCB! With Diana Ross and The Supremes and The Temptations, originally aired early December 1968.. I'll have to listen to the soundtrack album online.
Reel Black, you stay uploading obscure black films, TV, etc. THANK YOU!! First time seeing this as I came along in the 70's!😉
She's such a lady ❤
Yes, more like African inspired but she is a beautiful woman. Her facial features are striking.
That spiritual energy power waves so much rhythm groove vibe !🎨🎼⚙️🍉💚✅
Never saw Ms.D like this
Thanks for putting this out
Good for her for doing this in the 60s!...she looks great!
I'm glad to see her appreciation to our true culture 💚
Yes, Yes, Yes!! I enjoyed this!! thank you so much for sharing this!!! I was 7 when this came on tv.
truly an icon
TAKES me back. 😊
Me and my SISSY 'CORLA (RIP) tried to copy Diana's moves. 😊
I'm disappointed at some of the hateful comments on this video. Why should anything other than reverence for this work of art be expressed?
Totally agree!
reverence for this black face, no ma'am Pam... If you want an a solid example of one type of african dance before Miss Bleachy Ross . Look for Pearl Primus. that was in the 1950s. I finna watch this now, even. Miss ross owes us an apology for this ghetto nonsense.
@@PHlophe ghetto? Really? Wow.
Spirit EXACTLY. ALL the emphasize on her skin tone. 😑
Really?
Besides, this performance had her in makeup created by STUDIOS for an "AUTHENTIC AFRICAN ASTHETIC." In their eyes.
Not 2 mention lighting & make-up for BLACK performers on television & movies during those times were heavily altered.
Heather TEA Exactly! they didn't know how to light us back then... Even Oprah said it
She was killing it.
Diana Ross have always been a gorgeous lady! Thank you for uploading these timeless gems! 😍😍
She rock it i never saw this the outfits amazing she is the boss.
I remember her doing an African inspired dance as part of her famous concert in NYCs Central Park.
reelblack, you have really knocked it out of the park with this one. This is The Diana Ross that I have never seen before.
Wow, wonderful performance
Wow, stunning 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼.... Go Go Go Diana 💪🏼😃Wooohoo!!
I remember this. I was 4
@Nana mbaye I was 8 at the time.
Born 2/20/64 and still jam hell yeeeeeeeaaaaaa
I saw this a while back on MeTV and was hoping to find a video one day. Thanxx for posting😍
Never saw that before. This channel stays awesome.
Wow!! I never seen Diana Ross like that in a more afrocentric light. I was amazed by this because during that era especially when she's on stage either with the Supremes and even as solo etc this was rare to see her do this work of art!!!
Had no idea she was a
dancer. Beautiful dance routine as well❤️
"Supremely" Amazing!
excellent...superb...
awesum find...ths, i think, is/was th core of diana ross's talent-suppressed for th pop $-still impressively talented none th less...
WOW, new found awe for Mrs. Ross.
The ultimate blend of beauty and skills. Of roots and present! Way cool!
She was so charming❤❤
Wow I'm so glad we can truly see African and not what we were allowed to see by the industry ..smh
DIANA WAS BEAUTIFUL BACK THEN, SHE IS GEORGIOUS NOW❤💯
This special starred Diana Ross and The Supremes with the Temptations, not the Four Tops.
Thx corrected 👍🏾
You are most welcome. I love your channel!
hey Detroit Lives , 💖 hearing your stories about early life in Detroit 💯
@the grand canyon is Egypt We had a great childhood in Detroit and the whole area in those days, the 60s and 70s. Detroit was much different then. There w as so much for kids to do and enjoy. Television, although there were only 3 main channels (ABC, CBS and NBC), along with a few independent stations. They all had many programs for children and families to watch together. Canada was close by so we also got their television stations.
Never knew she could dance like this...wow 👍
Wow all those years I never thought she could even dance...!!!
Bri same!
Undeniably talented!
Wow! Just beautiful!
Miss Ross has LEVELS, and I need to know all of them...
Wow! Thanks for the video. Never seen this before.
Yess! She worked!!! Different and unusual for Ms. Diana but exquisite...❤️🖤💚✨ So soulful👏🏽 how skinny she was but she was popping them legs, back and arms. Fashion beautiful!! Imagine her now redoing that routine with an Afro and or head garb...imagine that! #AFRICANDANCE
Thank you!💙
Wow, breath taking 💜
SHE IS BEAUTIFUL & TALENTED YOU GO MOM💕💕💕💯
Think how revolutionary this was - Diana saying I am HERE, I'm a black woman and you WILL love me for it.
Angel
Her skin is brown gotta start breaking all these chains!
Yes!
While she was getting blown down by white men
@@Scythesyn
I love her but unfortunately true and disgusting!
Her skin was brown then. I was 8 when this came on TV. She looks like a heavy set white woman now that she has bleached her skin.
Wow this is really amazing. Positive side-effect of UA-cam algorithm
DIANA LOOKS BEAUTIFUL.
Diana aRoss was a fashion icon but I have never seen her reaching back to her roots likevthis.
Being a Gladys Knight junky I obviously have my reservations for Diana Ross.
But this was very cool, I hate to admit.
I like the garments.
Hello , First today, Love your Contents ! 🤗🙏🙏
She was so emaciated. Geez!
Africa is represented
Not a massive fan of Ross but this is very good. Love to see the whole show.
In case you haven't seen the whole show, it is on here TCB (1968) Full Program
Angelique Collins great stuff. Thanks.
A beautiful woman if ever there was one.......
What you say! Go 'head Diana!
✨💎BLACK WOMAN💎✨
I have one thing to say and I quote WOW!!!
Wonderful!!
Nice. 🌷
Love it!!
Go on now skinny mama.
I LOVE THIS! She could perform with Alvin Ailey if she wanted! 🤯 So glamorous 🤩
Very nice
I loved
I love it!
How did she go from caramel in the 60s to cream in the 80s?
She had on dark make-up for this show. Also the lighting.
skin bleaching
Skin Bleaching for sure!
Make-up, lighting, etc. It gets really annoying how every celebrity is accused of skin bleaching.
She actually was brown, not even carmel
Ache ache Ms Ross awesome
♥️♥️♥️ this!!! Thank you for all your great posts!!!!
Berry Gordy still in love with her too
Ms. Ross All Natural👑✊
Wow!
LOVE IT!!
This is older than my mom and I’m 21 lol
Chìíka Unìqué I bet I’M older than your mom & this is older (by 4 years) than I am! 🤣 😁
Darrell French perhaps my favorite comment of the day!!! 😉
Same! My dad was born in 69 mom 70
Awwww bless your heart! One day, God willing you'll see that 40 + years goes by really fast. And it isn't as long ago as you may think!
The Ringmaster Hunsuck-O-Rama 😂😂😂 my mom is turning 42 lol
Damn, she was skinny as hell and on film, you appear 10 pounds heavier...
You should watch Mahogany....girlfriend is waferthin!
Flexible too
This from the TCB show I’m kinda pissed we didn’t get to see the full supremes Talent in this show with Mary and Cindy Cindy was shy as fuck that why in part where their singing in the pantsuits Diana sing with Cindy on her part but Mary Really wasn’t never given an chance on show and performance in the 60s Most of their early hit were originally made for Flo and Mary in mind that why the sound fit so well with them doing background for Daina
Berry was about the money If Flo, Cindy or Mary had the kind of talent that would bring in the hits and the money like Diana he would have took full advantage...he knew about talent and that Diana would take him and his company to worldwide fame and the next level in the music industry..and she did.
Wow. I love this
Beautiful magnificent very cultural thank you
SEEING IS BELIEVING! DAAYYYUUUM!!!!!
My parents had a pic of her right on our living room wall.
Matter of fact, I'm about to call my mom and ask if she had a say in that decision, because she left him for many reasons.
That could have been one, but I highly doubt it...😊
Awesomeness
💘 Mrs. Ross
OMG. Reel Black we need you! How can we petition to get you monetised on UA-cam again. NO ONE DOES WHAT YOU DO!!!!!!!!
Consider making a donation. Every little bit helps.
@@reelblack Will do. Am already subscribed. Always like your vids...what's not to like? Do you think UA-cam would listen if enough people shine a light on this issue? You are an archivist of the Black experience....and you make me so proud of myself.
WOW!!!! She is good!
i had no idea that she used to be this dark.
Keep in mind this was filmed with a 51 year old camera 💡
Go head MISS ROSS beautiful
