The MOD on the switch stands for "Minimum Object Distance..." so that option on the focus limiter switch limits the range from Minimum Object Distance to 10 meters. While the Tamron 50-400 and 70-180 G2 allow for customizable focus limit behaviors through the Tamron Lens Utility, the 150-500 is hard set by the switch itself. The lens is 100% native and keeps up with Z9 and Z8 as needed. Air shows and toddlers included 😁
I tried the Nikon 180-600mm z lens it’s a nice lens but the size of it to carry around is a pain for me! I just love the Tamron 150-500mm it’s so easy to carry around and the sharpness is very good!
I am still getting use to my 150-500 it appears to become a favorite
Nice review
If I ever have the opportunity of going on an African wildlife safari, this would be my lens of choice. Internally focusing lenses like Nikon's 150-600mm are much longer to carry on an airplane.
I REALLY wanted to like this lens and I pre-ordered one. When it came in, and I put it on my Z8, there was a LOT of rotational "play" between the camera and the lens. It was so noticeable that I honestly worried that it might be rotating so much that the contacts between the lens & the camera might become misaligned. Ultimately, I cancelled the order for the Tamron 150-500 and got a Nikkor Z 100-400 S instead. (Due to its size and weight, I didn't consider the 180-600 to be a viable option for carrying around "just in case" I see something I'd need a long lens for.)
Got this lens for 2 weeks. I have a roughly 1 degree of rotation movement when mounted on my Z8. Do you have this issue? I’m wondering if it’s just my copy that has the rotation movement.
Other than that the performance has been great!
Ours was nice and snug on the Z9, no movement whatsoever.
I wanted to like this lens BUT, ended up sending it back. Out of 45 images of a northern harrier in flight on my z9 I had exactly one keeper. All images were soft, viewfinder experience with the vr was terrible. Maybe I got a bad copy. Seems like that happens alot with my tamron purchases!
I had it for a day and returned it. I would pick Z180-600mm box of the extra reaching
