Remarkable job what this craftsman expert did with the music box . I really admire and respect a person who work with his hands doing still some magic with his skills in the old fashioned way .
The box was being packaged up for safe transport whilst they were outside doing the interview with the camera. The box would then have been brought out to them once it was ready to go.
I love watching the repair shop, one of the best programmes on TV these days in my opinion, I always ask myself where do the repair men and women learn how to repair these things??
If I remember correctly, they will bag/wrap up the pieces for them before they go so it’s possible they go to do the post interview while that’s happening.
Does anyone know who made that music box in the video, the ? I have a box that looks very similar, probably similar age, but no identification inside. Fascinating video and lovely story.
Definitely Swiss maker, pre-1900 or early 1900s by the looks of the mainspring and the handwritten label. Troy Duncan of Reuge USA, who has restored some of my antique and vintage larger Swiss boxes, does do appraisals … I would recommend you send yours for overhaul and appraisal …
The owners, incredibly, said goodbye to the repairman, but neglected to collect the renewed music box, perhaps as might happen in a movie on the subject.
A craftsman at his best. The only thing I would add to the workshop is a ultrasonic cleaner. Ultrasonic cleaner are the very best for cleaning the smallest of parts.
They really cut the time on the video on the restoration he cleaned the cylinder and showed rebuilding the comb then shut it off for the rest of the restoration why did they cut so much out they never do that on these videos very disappointed they always go deep into the restoration there was a lot of cutting on that one 😠
They clip chickens to keep them from flying and their feathers fall out naturally it's also not like you would need a ton you're telling me you can't use chicken feathers
This reminds me of my dead great-grandmother. It makes me happy so to hear something that reminds me of when I was little 😢❤

This made me cry. I miss my Dad too. Enjoy his memory
How nice, that was a lovely story. Superb workmanship on the restoration. Only why didn't they take the music box with them when they left. LOL

What a sweet grandchild.
Thought the same thing....very well mannered...props to mom and dad on that one.
This is just magical! Love from TN USA
Can we recognize just how spot-on perfect the host's jacket and shirt combination is? I really like the cut of that jacket, I must have it.

❤️😊🌟❤️ I LOVE your work and Love and Dedication. Thank you Always and from the bottom of my heat ♥️
After all that and they walk out leaving the music box on the table. SMH
I wonder if they went out to do the post interview and then returned for it

Lmao 🤣 I was like wtf
😂 I thought the same
They left it behind 🫢
Betty sounds like Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac and resembles her as well. 😆
His ability to produce high quality results with that ancient side cut trimmer is amazing.
It plays 6 songs! Where has this music box been all my life?! XD
It turned out beautifully, btw. :)
I'm speechless... wow
Tears
I'm amused by the thought of chickens being considered "wildlife." :P
Says a lot about you.
Hm, not really. It mainly just says that I know the difference between wildlife and highly selectively bred domesticated livestock.
Keep chickens and find out how 'wild' they can be! Brrawk!
Well done Steve!!
I collect music boxes and I’ve always wanted a music box like this one but they are so expensive on eBay.

Um, poultry still grow feathers, and probably wouldn't even mind donating a feather at moulting time. Perhaps the plastic ones are more convenient? :)

The clock-master has got one at his workplace I assume.
These guys have top of the range kit in their own workshops. This barn is set up for TV. It's located at The Weald and Downland museum in Sussex.
She loved it so much she left it. 🙄
🥲i'm happy that they fixed it, planning to fix my mothers Sanyo boombox 1979.

I just devoured a dozen hot chicken wings and you're telling me we can't use feathers in a music box? Give me a break.
...wofür braucht die Welt Soldaten?---wenn es Menschen gibt die andere mit kleinigkeiten erfreuen können so das sie weinen vor Glück...
Or if they suddenly held a dance on a battlefield with music and strings of lights, etc, and plenty of beer....
A billion chickens are killed every day -- they least we can do is use their feathers!
They were married in 1926??
And why they left the music box in the shop?
Yo
How does that one cylinder hold 8 songs?
Th cylinder shifts thanks to a spring when a melody it s finished
What a load of .....
