Hi Tom, I’ve been around plumbing for 50 years. I know an excellent plumber when I see one. You are a fantastic/excellent plumber make no mistake. You take on jobs most plumbers would run a mile from, your work and your films are brilliant. I have massive respect for you, your quality of work and your knowledge. Never underestimate yourself you are brilliant. I know the craic I’ve seen it and done it, believe me I do know. Thank you for another great film Tom, keep going exactly as you are. Have a great weekend and as always mate take care. 🍻👍👍👍
Tom, you do not have any reason to knock yourself. You are well above any average plumber that I have come across and believe me I have came across lots of them in my time. You come across as a very competent knowledgeable plumber who isn't afraid to tackle anything. For a relatively young guy you show that you have a great knowledge of your trade and capable of tackling a wide and varied range of plumbing tasks. Not just a guy that fixes the leak at a kitchen sink and cannot handle anything else. Folk that judge you based on a 30 minute video have no clue. In my line of work I used to inspect all aspects of plumbing and heating works and your skills, attitude and work ethics is very impressive. Keep up the good work.
Tom, you are in the top 1% of heating engineers trust me - keep it up. Appreciate sometimes when the pressure is on and especially when you're working solo a lot of the time it's easy to self-doubt but you're a real asset to the Plumbing and Heating community on UA-cam
Don’t take notice of the trolls mate you seem like a sound fella and really knowledgeable in your job keep doing what your doing from a plumber of 35 years 👍
Greetings from Ireland, Tom - just discovered your channel and have stayed up till silly o'clock last 2 nights going from one of your videos to the next. Worked in industrial electrical/mechanical maintenance and self-employed as an OFTEC registered technician from 2007 to 2012 before my chiller work took over. Much respect to your diligence and standard of work and technical knowledge. I know from experience how apparently simple plumbing jobs can turn pear-shaped in the blink of an eye. Much kudos to you as you tackle the majority of those jobs by yourself - no other person to knock ideas off. Word of advice - mind yourself and don't burn yourself out. Can certainly agree with some of your rants re. poor quality equipment. My bugbears are crappy quarter-turn circulation pump isolating valves that leak the minute you take a screwdriver to them to shut them off, crap quality oil fire valves, there was an issue with Riello RDB fuel pumps in the past; they would seize up when run on kerosene - poor tolerances from the OEM - looked like they were second sourced from China, crap toilet dual flush cisterns, especially those fitted with those awful one/two level flushes and dreadful Torbeck valves, poor quality tap inserts, ultra-thin copper cylinder wall thicknesses, and overly complex heating systems - don't get me started on motorised valves - hate them with a passion, so far, EPH seem to be ok, have seen premature failures on 'respected' brands like Myson, Honeywell, Sunvic, but I refuse to use one in my house - pumps and Systemlink all the way! Skilled people like you are so badly needed today - too many parents wanting their Johns and Marys to 'go to college' - looking down their noses at trades - but ye will win in the end!
Thanks so much for the and comment Pete, I've had a couple of them RDB oil pumps be faulty as well, one caused me a load of grief just before Christmas, the EPH zone valves seem good so far, they do a base plate convertor to go between different brands so you can just swat the head out which I think is a great idea
Dont need to apologize snd beat yourself up. Your the best on youtube bar none when it comes to the plumbing and heating videos and show exactly how it is in the real world when youve got a busy schedule and the pressures on.. Dont let a few silly commehts get to you by a few sad haters.. Keep up the fantastic work and have a great weekend...
Tom as I have said many times on your channel mate Your videos are honest and real world. Don't apologise Tom. It's also a double thumbs up, as the wife enjoys your channel. Have good weekend and don't beat yourself up. Rob the Sparky.
Great video Tom 👍 we all take silly risks at times and it's not until afterwards we stand back and tell ourselves off. It good to see some of your videos are getting high viewing figures and that is well deserved 😎👍
Tom we have all done things that we should not have done . It's a bring back to reality call .👍👍👍👍👍 Don't knock yourself you do a lot more variety and different type of work that some people won't touch. . Keep up the good work .👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Tom, keep the vids coming, your work is spot on, anyone who knows the trade , knows it’s not all smart vans and uniforms, it’s getting jobs done, problems solved and services up and running, your content show’s reality, its interesting and as an ex plumber who misses the work great to watch, thank you 🚽👍have a great weekend
Dont be hard on yourself. You're one of the best out there. Not many plumbers have the balls to show their work to the world, especially the wierd, wacky and tricky jobs you get. Learn lots from your videos as im starting out. 👍
Tom, keep the videos coming. Your knowledge and experience is top tier. Don’t worry about other peoples negative opinions, we have all done things that we shouldn’t have.
Not many plumbers can do as many varied jobs as you Tom. I look forward to your videos and love the content. No frills real world plumbing. Bit of costing would be great. Tim
Great video, with interesting jobs, Tom, as always - thanks. Personally, I think you have nothing to apologise for regarding PPE - we’ve all done it, as it’s easy to forgot putting on gloves or a mask when you are completely focussed on sorting something out, especially when time constrained. I think anyone who has done any demanding practical work will attest to that! As regards your plumbing abilities, it is quite clear to me, and (I hope) the overwhelming majority of your viewers that you are second to none, coupled with an encyclopaedic knowledge and ability to solve difficult problems. (Jacob is very lucky to have you as a mentor and looks like he’s coming along pretty well.)
Don't worry about negativity, you're one of my favourite and most knowledgeable engineers on UA-cam. You come across as very humble and always willing to help others. Well done matey keep up the good work 👍🏼
Don't be hard on yourself. I enjoy you realistic approach and no BS. The way you talked Jacob through this was exemplary! And I'm not even a plumber or trades person
Don't beat yourself up mate, we all have good and bad days. We can't all be perfect like some of your commentors , the man who never made a mistake never made anything. Great videos best wishes.
I hope you're encouraged that your last few videos have had very healthy view counts, even if that does come with the comments. Thanks for posting, always interesting!
Thanks for the support as always John, I do really enjoy making the videos and views have always been secondary, it is nice to see the videos do well though, hope you have a great weekend 👍
in the past ive drained down the system and plumbed the gas into the radiator flow, let the bleed valves out and light them, nice bit of open flame heat (temporary only)
You are very good at your job . I wouldnt know where to start with the commerial stuff . I was a commercial pipe fitter plumber, but didn't get involved with setting up commercial stuff up . It was comishioned t the by the guys from the office .
You ain’t a below average plumber 🤣🤣your knowledge is crazy And you seem reliable and honest that is what this trade needs!!An in regards to last weeks vid, shit happens mate an u gotta do what you gotta do sometimes it ain’t all rosey like a lot of UA-camrs plumbers make out
You show warts and all, that’s how it should be Tom, real world plumbing. Everybody can put together their best work and not show their mediocre work, ps below average plumber that’s absolutely nonsense Tom, your one of the best most knowledgeable heating engineers out there not to mention you can turn your hand to practically any kind of plumbing be it domestic or commercial, oil etc.
Tom of all the plumbers I watch on you tube your the one who’s job is the most similar to mine, we’ve all been there where you bend the rules or do things you shouldn’t of, like you said it’s all for the end aim of helping the customer! Your vids are really good and I’ve picked up a couple tips from you! Just maybe try wearing gloves at least 😂! Keep it up mate and I’m looking forward to your next vid.
Tom we’ve all been a bit gun-ho and done stuff we’ve just got away with - don’t stress about it Swapping the rad valve live was ok just not at working temp - it shows what can go wrong but lesser men would have flooded the place you didn’t With your location you have to do all types of jobs which is great to see but sometimes take a deep breath - turn the boiler off and go do another job for a couple of hours then go back and swap the valve sod the travel time and the pressure of I’ve got to get this done - a few weeks off with burnt fingers would be worse than a couple of hours travelling back and forth Keep the varied work content coming 👍
I was stupid on that job to be fair, I was annoyed with it though because the customer wanted it doing half 3 on a Friday, the other thing that annoyed me the job description was leak under sink, I probably should have just re booked the job but decided to just get it done, thanks for the support, hope you have great weekend
Hi Tom ignore the plumbing utopia people out there, sometimes you’ve got to snatch the valve to get the job done and move on to the next job, I thought it was funny because I’ve been in exactly that same position you just have crack on and do it. And stop putting yourself down “below average “ your absolutely not, any apprentice working with you will go on to be excellent competent plumbers and heating engineers keep up the great work and good content👍👍👍
excellent video , if I wore the correct ppe on every job , id get nothing done, sometimes things are hotter than expected but you cant just wander off to the van to get gloves etc when water is spraying everywhere.
I am going to start wearing more PPE, it's a really bad habit because it's something I've never bothered with, like you say though sometimes something just happens and you have to deal with it, thank for the support as always Chris
You show it as it is Tom & that is to be admired, things don’t always go to plan and everyone has their own ways of doing things, ignore the armchair experts and keep doing what you’re doing
We used to fit a lot of 3” brass cam locks and pulling too tight with the stillsons used to distort the fitting and we had to take the pressure off to allow the fitting to go on.
Im gonna say, as an American, you're guys plumbing baffles me. With your water tanks in the ceiling the valves needing a flathead to open or close, and toilet tanks in or behind the walls. It's just weird being so similar yet so different. 😂
Thats a cracking water saver on urinal, i'll bet u someone was quite proud of that when they fitted it. Dont think theres a plumber out there that hasnt done something stupid at one time or another, i refuse to take chances with hot water though at these temps, i look after 2large hotels, one has problems with old hep splitting, the other with valves and prvs breaking. With the hep u need to turn off about 40 rooms at a time, its normally a bugger above the ceiling and as soon as the air gets in u can sometimes get a quite a rush of water but it takes a long as it takes and if guests are inconvenieced its just tough, the other hotel u need to turn off a whole wing of about 100 rooms and its the same, it takes as long as it takes, their maintenance man got quite badly burned trying to change a shower cartridge with a valve that wouldnt close.
No apologies needed - we just wouldn't want to see you get hurt. If you're "below average", there must be some extraordinary plumbers in Lincolnshire...
Mate fuck that! You are soooo much better that your average prat in our game! Keyboard warriors are all idiots! Dont let them get you down! You did what you did to get it fucking done! Thats real world mate dont let some bell end get you down! Just keep smashing it! ❤
Thanks for the support mate, I was more disappointed with myself because I should know better, I do learn so much from the comments, have a great weekend
Don't feel the need to apologise, it's real life and we all have to adapt what we're doing to suit circumstances. Too many tradesmen walk away from jobs that aren't straightforward, you sort things out. Jacob's going to be the same, he's got a proper attitude.
A lot of zone valves only work to 1 bar pressure, it okay on a heating system as it doesn't matter so much if it pushes by, as the boiler will reach temperature and shut down. Btw mains on toilets is against the regs in Ireland
I've recommend a proper water saver to be put on, It's interesting to hear how regs differ across countries, over here you rarely come across tank fed toilets any more, years ago it was more common but now most things are pressurised, thanks for watching
Hi Tom I have only just started watching your videos I commented last week and you did reply thank you 👍I can’t stop watching them now really good videos 👍I probably will comment on some that are way behind hopefully that’s ok. Just a question you work for yourself? Or do work for a company only you had jack with you on today video 👍have a great weekend you probably working thou👍
Thanks for the support Carl, I work for my families construction company, my job is to look after the plumbing side, feel free to comment on any of my older videos, I do my best to reply to everyone, have a great weekend
Hello Tom, great video as always. A question if I may; using the jet blue paste on the compression fittings........does the paste harden after a while or does it stay soft? Great work with the hammer Jacob, you did well getting that pump out. Your videos are great mate, as you are finding there are lots of critics out there, ignore them and keep up the great work
Tom your a hard worker mate and till your in that situation with pressure and doing the snatch Job. Then feel free to let them have opinions but we all have taken risks to get a job done quicker. We all cut corners in our own jobs. Just that you show everything you do and are honest. Let them bitch😂
It is a tough job sometimes and like you say we all do things that we regret, the video got a lot of views and there will have been lots of people who hadn't seen any of my other stuff, in fairness in that moment I should have done things better, thanks for the support mate
Don't apologise for other people's uneducated over exaggerated criticism. You're on the job and in it to earn a living. The haters don't need to watch so they're the fools for getting worked up pal
Legend tom you have had a big impact on my knowledge for plumbing,2nd year apprentice, it helps me and helps me prove better work for cilents its a public service your doing, your videos are vital to my understanding and knowledge of the trade and will stay with me for a lifetime your a top man and a great plumber 🪠

Tom we’ve all been a bit gun-ho and done stuff we’ve just got away with - don’t stress about it
Swapping the rad valve live was ok just not at working temp - it shows what can go wrong but lesser men would have flooded the place you didn’t
With your location you have to do all types of jobs which is great to see but sometimes take a deep breath - turn the boiler off and go do another job for a couple of hours then go back and swap the valve sod the travel time and the pressure of I’ve got to get this done - a few weeks off with burnt fingers would be worse than a couple of hours travelling back and forth
Keep the varied work content coming 👍

Thanks for the support as always mate, that's one thing I will never do, walk away from a job, have a great weekend 👍
I like it 😂 give it a good American ,(good yank ) 😂I’ll take that one 👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧Tom
Thanks for the support mate, an old guy I used to work with used to say that a lot, have a a great weekend
Tom. "Go a bit easy on that mate"
Jacob. "Hold my beer"
😂
Putting us all to shame by taking on jobs I’d run a mile from top video as always Tom! That two port on a cistern for a urinal that’s a new one 😂😂
Thanks for the support as always mate, it's certainly was unique way of doing it
Geared content as always Tom, I don't think you are bang average mate. God help us if you consider yourself average..
Thanks for the support as always James

Hello Tom, great video as always. A question if I may; using the jet blue paste on the compression fittings........does the paste harden after a while or does it stay soft?
Great work with the hammer Jacob, you did well getting that pump out.
Your videos are great mate, as you are finding there are lots of critics out there, ignore them and keep up the great work
Jet blue is non setting so it doesn't make the fitting any more difficult to undo in the future, thanks for the support, hope you have a great weekend
Way of life these days mate. People will only comment on the negative and forgetting all the positive stuff.
Don't apologise for other people's uneducated over exaggerated criticism. You're on the job and in it to earn a living. The haters don't need to watch so they're the fools for getting worked up pal
Thanks for the support mate
This is real world plumbing so everyone leave it out
