This will always be an important song to me. It celebrates the ending of the cold war between the United States and the USSR as well as the tearing down of the Berlin wall which has separated West and East Germany. I was just entering the military in 1990. Imagine your entire life all you had known was the constant threat of aggression from the "other side". Now there is a real possibility of the threat being gone and the world can potentially move forward in peace. This song will always symbolize the brief window of time when it seemed possible,
And now idiots are trying to respark that violence for personal gain... the evil needs to end.
After world war 2 ended the cruel divide of Berlin East and West. They built a Wall and East Germany was ruled by communists and West was free democracy The song is of hope when they tore it down in 1989. They came back as one people. Much pain had been removed from that Cold War as it was known as.
Scorpions are a German band who has some very popular songs.they do a lot of hard rock ballads👍❤️ this song has deep meaning and is a part of that history ….
The very first time I heard this was while watching a Filipino cover band in Singapore. I had been at sea so didn't get to hear it before that. LOVE Scorpions.
I rock with them, but this my favorite song from them.

Not a big Scorpions fan but I absolutely love this song.
I was stationed in Germany when Berlin was still divided, west being the free Germany, and east being in alliance with the Communist in the old Soviet Union. I actually went to East Berlin and there were both East German and Soviet Union Military partols everywhere in the city. There were not private signs allowed, and every building was the same dull gray. They did have a beautiful Mall there, but not much else. Interesting place, but very depressing.

@@trumphatesyou I came from a military family, so I was proud to serve my country, and to be an American. It is disheartening to see what is happening to our great country. The real heroes are those who gave their lives for our freedoms. they seem to be forgotten and unappreciated by many.

The Moskya was a river than runs through Russia, and was the name of Soviet Union fleet of defense ships against the U.S. . Gorky Park was an urban village in this area, off the Moskya River.
