Why doesn't christian and conservative people effort more to make Francis Schaeffer more well-known? He's so relevant, in fact more relevant today than ever. Greetings from Costa Rica.
It was a sad day when Francis Schaeffer was taken from us. He would even answer personal letters. He answered my queries and questions that helped me greatly in my fledgling Christian walk out of the "modern awfullness." His admonitions are even more relevant today in 2022.
One of the most awesome and spirited messages I've heard in a long time! Praise our Lord Jesus Christ, let the Holy Spirit use us to further the glory of God!
Oh, how we need to bring this teaching back. We are surely at the brink of our nation’s collapse. “God have mercy on us, and help your slumbering, worldly church wake up and become your holy representative, living to spread the good news of the gospel that alone can change the heart of man, the only hope for our country.”
Astounding if not damnable to the state of the general church. 33 years later humanism is the state of mind within the church never mind within the state. We no longer have civil disobedience as an option. Now we are fighting for the faith itself.
Political Correctness has entered the church, as most pastors shy away from proclaiming the full counsel of God. And the "free will" humanistic (man at the center) gospel, is a direct cause of the decline of the church. The church went from being a university (studying the Word of God/focusing on people's spiritual needs), to being a hospital (focusing on people's physical needs), to then being a mental health center (focusing on people's mental/emotional needs) leading to a social club (focusing on people's interactive needs), taking us to where we are now - a political body (focusing on people's rights). When the gospel becomes about man, setting man as the center and ultimate benefactor of all things relating to God - then God ceases to be Sovereign, but exists merely to serve man.
This man had, among other things, was here speaking as a watchman with a prophetic voice. He was a scholar, writer and theologian but able to speak directly to the average person. I read his book A Christian Manifesto which took many aback with its "radical viewpoint". And yet it is not radical at all. He speaks truth and exhortation to all Christians that we are to addres sthese issues, such as abortion, personally, that we should be willing to stand up and say "No, this is a human life made by God. Now in 2020, it clearly appears that the evils of humanism have led to radical confusion and chaos and worse. But..the Bible is the Good News. Thank you Dr. Francis Schaeffer.

I've probably never heard a more thorough and accurate summation of the fundamentalist evangelical worldview. It makes me wonder how influential Mr. Schafer has been on all of the traits and tropes of this movement. Perhaps the most classic false dichotomy that evangelicals often use, which Mr Shaffer uses here, is making it an either-or proposition of "Christianity vs X." Either we have judeo-christian values, or we have philosophical naturalist humanism, when there are countless other propositions, and countless gradations of mixing between those propositions.
The irony of this message is he repeatedly called Christianity " judeo Christianity"... if the world taught the world view of the jews we wouldn't have Christianity and would still be waiting on christ.
What judeo Christianity means is Christianity sprang from Judaism. Jesus was Jewish from birth to death. God had/has a special covenant with Israel. We don't look to the world to teach us anything, ALL GOOD THINGS COME FROM GOD!
