Exactly what I was looking for and couldn’t get a solid answer. You solved the mystery. Thank you 1000 times over. 🤙🏻 some people just know what people need answers to. Well done kind sir.
Thank you, Craig, I have a 2004 Poulan chainsaw. I found the fuel lines in a broken mess. You have given a direction of where to attach the different size hoses. This was particularly important when installing the filter and restrictive barb.
Thank you very much for this video! My 18 year old Craftsman has sat for 15 years and the lines all shattered. I needed the orientation and this video did the trick, she still runs like a champ!
Hi Craig, it's videos like yours that a lot of us guys are very thankful for. I don't see very many of these saws but when I do it's so helpful to have guys like yourself that have taken the mystery out of fuel line configuration so we don't have to wrack our brains!! Thank you very much man, this has proved helpful more than you realize♥
Thank you sir! You are a life saver. All my fuel lines were so brittle they broke when i touched them and i had no clue where to put the new ones. Big Thank You!
I have to make just one correction. The shorter/smaller nipple is the inlet on the purge bulb, the larger/longer nipple is the outlet and goes to the tank.
I have the 2055 series and have found that my lines are cracked and sheard, this video saved me so much time, most of them were sitting detached and I had no idea how to run them, could've guessed but probably would've caused me more trouble. I only suggest a little extra lighting for this video because of small space to see in, Great Video!
Thanks for watching, Glad it was of some help, thats why I make the videos I make, hoping to help someone. Great tip on the lighting I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.
Thank you for showing the variations and the schematic. I noticed this double sided barbed line connector on the thicker fuel line entering the tank on the kludge side. I was not sure what I missed on the second side of the connector. Now I know: nothing. haha...
Exactly right Nothing, HA HA HA. Really not sure why it was used , but my assumption is that they wanted to save any amount of line they could by inserting this double barb connector then pull it up tight against the tank saving a couple inches of line on each saw. A few thousand saws might equal a few hundred dollars, Big Business always looking to save a penny. Glad I could Help.
@@craigtimmons3468 yep, your reasoning makes total sense... because when i pulled it to replace because it was broken at the bulb, I did not get it out. Even though all the other connections had broken off lines still on, that connector had nothing on it. That then also cleared up the fuel flow. Also learning the term Purgebulb instead of Primerbulb or Pumpbulb. Interesting is that not the pressing of the bulb does the real thing, it is the release of bulb. Different form other priming actions - like on most outboards, where the priming is coupled w/ the choke and on pulling / pushing several times, fuel is injected into to intake... - Glad I could give back... w/ another comment. If you have computer / software question (and some other not IT stuff, because I also like to do things with my hands: 'restored' a nice, little vintage Echo 302S, a Poulan 32ccm from the 90' is next), I may 'help you back'. - Enjoy the rest of the Sunday.
@@allobject Thanks, I may have to hit you up one day. The purpose of the purge bulb on a chainsaw is to purge the carb of potential vaporized gas that could cause a vapor lock.
Thank you so much! Even though I took pictures of every step of disassembly on my “wild thing” to aid me with reassembly, I still managed to screw up the routing. I wound up thinking the large diameter line was the fuel pickup in the tank and attached the fuel filter to it! The biggest issue came when I prepped my saw for starting and discovered fuel leaking through the vent hole in the fuel cap! Found another used cap at a shop nearby and it had the SAME problem! Looking for a NEW cap today. My question is… Does the fuel filter lay on the bottom of the tank, horizontally? Thanks for your time and the routing video.
Answer to your question is Yes the filter lays on the floor of the tank with enough extra line for it to move freely as the saw is being twisted and turned up and down and side to side to allow the filter to stay submerged in fuel at all times, I like to position the filter about 3/4 of the tank away from where the supply line enters the tank, so it should be about 1 to 2 inches inside the tank from the cap side, once installed before cutting the line to install on the carb make sure the filter has good movement in the tank as you twist and turn the saw while watching the filter movement.
First try to determine if the fuel is coming from the carb or from one of the fuel lines. Is a line just disconnected? Has the line shrunk in size where it goes into the fuel tank leaking there? Is there a hole in or broken line? A leaking line will need to be replaced with new. If the fuel is coming from the carb it will more than likely need rebuilt. But first make sure the needle and seat are not leaking past making sure there are no foreign debris in the seat area, you can slightly stretch the metering lever spring to help apply more pressure to the needle and seat. This may stop a leaking needle and seat. If you have or have access to a pressure/ vacuum tester preform a pressure /vacuum test on the carb to determine if its leaking. You can submerge the carb into water to help find the leak. If the tank vent is functioning properly there can be up to around 10psi of pressure in the tank depending on temperature this is normal so remember that the needle seat pressure will need to be greater than this to achieve a good seal and prevent leakage. Last and hopefully not this, there could be a crack in the tank carb box area, to find this pressurize the fuel tank to around 10 to 15 psi and spray with soapy water or submerge in water. Good Luck.
I'm guessing you talking about the OD of the line being a larger diameter, if this is the case one could restrict fuel flow, to check remove the hose from the carb and cap from the tank and see if you can blow through the hose into the tank.
I seem to get a lot of them with the lines to big and left lose Like they started and just quit 😂 And connect backwards to purge bulb, then the carb check valve destroyed
Should have showed the purge bulb in the middle fitting is a check valve, that fuel line goes to the tank on clutch side to add air pressure to push fuel Thur filter an fuel line to carb ... The fuel line from the carb to the purge bulb goes to the side side fitting just pulled air too pressures the tank
I have never used fuel line from Stens or ProParts, I use Stihl R, Echo and Tygon line from Oregon Products, all good quality line. I do cary some cheaper tygon that I purchased from Farmertec that is ok for the one's who are cheap and don't want to put a lot of money into their equipment. Their Choice.

Did you watch this video with your eyes closed or were you sleeping 😴? Not only do I provide a drawing of the line routing of Both versions, I clearly do show the routing in the video. For people like you who can't comprehend I use 2 different saws Because they are of different style series, but that's very hard for people with closed eyes such as yourself to see and recognize. Thank you, sir! This helped me with my later generation Poulan.
Great information! This helped me a lot to get the lines in correctly. The old lines had fallen apart and I couldn’t tell what went where.
You're a life saver. Wish i would have found this video first.
I agree, Thank you sir. I had the same issue as Keith did. Without your video I had no idea where the gas lines went.

See first comment…
I picked the wrong line because the fuel filter was loose in the tank due to the rotting deterioration of the lines.

Craig, I'm having a problem with fuel pooling under the carb. What should I be looking for to correct the pooling of fuel.

Float in carb sticking
Good job!
What happens if you use larger diameter line for fuel filter in?
I'm guessing you talking about the OD of the line being a larger diameter, if this is the case one could restrict fuel flow, to check remove the hose from the carb and cap from the tank and see if you can blow through the hose into the tank.

Good
is he saying "sawl"?
Thats exactly what was said
yes just after he drank his malk while he was warshing hi clothes
W what if it don't have a primer bulb
As in never had one or its not installed?
My saw is dieing under load
Dose it seem to be flooding? How easy will it restart? Is this issue on free loan or in the cut? How dose it act before it dies?
It occurs during cutting, it will restart once or twice then will not. Could be flooding, not positive.

Might be carb gasket just put all new fuel line and filter. Carb gasket was a little sketchy near bolt hole could be sucking air. Ty
