AVIATION ENGLISH - Initial assessment and TRAINING EVALUATION

Oral evaluations in aeronautical English are explained both online and face-to-face:
FCL ANGLAIS uses three main types of assessment:
- The initial assessment lasts 20 minutes + 10 minutes for debriefing. It is designed for pilots (and some air traffic controllers), or anyone wishing to fly light aircraft, microlights, airliners or business aircraft, to test their language skills according to the ICAO rating scale. This test is a good tool for setting training objectives. What's more, it's free and without strings attached.
- The mock FCL .055 test. Depending on the test you wish to take, the layout should be as close as possible to that of the test centre. It lasts between 20 and 25 minutes, depending on the test, with a 10-minute debriefing immediately afterwards. It's a trial run that lets you know whether your objectives are realistic and which language skills are concerned.
- The formative assessment is a similar test. It is also necessary to check the knowledge gained during the course. This test only lasts 15 minutes, with a 10-minute debriefing. You need to be very quick because the programme is quite extensive:
- Introduction (you talk briefly about yourself)
- 2 open questions about aviation
- 1 description of an aviation-related image
- A series of emergency messages or unusual situations in French to be relayed in English. This series includes elements seen in class.
- A few short exchanges during a simulated flight
The formative assessment is not a mock FCL .055. However, the result obtained is a good indication since the six language skills on the ICAO rating scale are assessed. For more information, click on the video.
