    Hi...personally...I always keep my bike gear in the same place and use the time putting it on as a pre-bike exercise.....extra bends and stretching. Same with getting the bike of the garage/lock up etc...then ready to go.

    On the point of being followed, I live up a cul de sac and it’s quiet, I was out on Halloween and I had just gotten home and put the bike in the back ready to lock up and I had an alert on my door cam, some little scrote no helmet and no plates on a dirt bike was using the bike light to scan the gardens and driveways at the top of my street where I live . No doubt I was seen pulling into my street and I live at the very top of the road so 100% was looking to see if I had parked on the drive or to get an idea of where it was . Put me on edge, even now I stress every morning that it is still there, I had bumped up my anchors just in case after my lambretta was stolen last year so at least I have a little more to fall back on . Great vid though matey 😄

    Just watched your vid, you basically covered most of what I learned over the 40 plus years of riding . You are very wise but you still have plenty still to learn. Could be I’m a slo learner LoL.

    Best thing is, in just over three weeks time the days start getting longer. Heated vest wired to a battery tender cable is the way forward for doing the miles in colder weather, pair that with your heated grips and you're good to go. Keeping my fingers crossed for you getting a clear, dry riding day

    The speed is something you do get used to - and it isn't the ability to accelerate from 0-100mph (on private land obviously) in about 7 seconds, its the 40-70 in the blink of an eye that gets you every time and puts such a grin on your face :D
    I don't mind the getting ready at all, because once its done - you're riding and thats why we do what we do, the feeling of riding.
    The security, well - if you worry about the kind of people who steal stuff, you'll never have anything you like, so just do what you sensibly can to make your bike less attractive to the dregs of society and get good insurance!
    I'll be honest, my bike is still standard - with the exception of a tank protector and a tailbag. I bought it because I loved it from the moment I test rode it, it doesn't need changing (I won't pretend I don't think about it though!)
    Depends on the weather? Wimp ;)
    The only time I won't ride is in snow or ice. I hate the salt - my girl can't get rusty, but as long as you wash the bike off after a salty ride its all good. Meets are fewer, but I'm lucky and as long as its not raining - most people I know are still using their bikes.

      @@TipToeBikers I don't have a nice warm car, so I only leave it behind when it is dangerous not to. Like if there is snow or ice. I have broken my ankle on both in the past. But I have an advantage when it comes to riding in the winter. I have a scooter (Honda Forza 350) So much better with the weather protection it has. A few years ago I borrowed a Yamaha Diversion 600 (in January) and it was bloody freezing! I was glad to get back on my scooter.

    You ain’t kidding about the cost of biking. I got into biking later in life. Although I’ve had my full licence for 20 years, I didn’t buy my first bike until 5 years ago. I dread to think how much I’ve spent on biking… at my last count I now have 5 motorcycles jackets!! When I come across new riders and they say “I only need 1 jacket”, I look and smirk. I think to myself, let’s meet up in 12 months and let’s see how many jackets you now have…, 🤣🤣🤣
    Great posting.

    Sometimes I cycle on my no gears bicycle, its easy to maintain and you dont spend any money on it. You just lock it up and go into a building easy. But im gonna see if I can get a Dutch bicycle when my motorcycle isnt used.
    There are Dutch style roundabouts in UK now where you have to give way to cyclists by law.

    easy to break speed limits without realising? it doesn't take long to realise that once we reach 3rd gear, we need to slow down again... and yes that's just leaving an intersection sedately.
    Once I was maybe two weeks in to riding a 250, I found myself needing to get clear of a driver that obviously has never had a driving instruction in their life... I had dropped down to second because they were hesitating and being erratic with movements. so when I had a clear escape path I used it... and went from 30km/h to 70 just like that, in the space of a second, I was past, clear and free... but doing 20km/h over the limit... That stayed in my head for days! it was quite shocking how quick it was when the throttle got opened the whole way for the first time!

      Hey it's just a mount that came with the go pro I think, a standard 3mm sticky pad with the clip on. Search "go pro 3mm sticky mount" on amazon 😊 I've never had a problem with it budging at any speed (👀), I used a heat gun to warm up the adhesive a bit before securing. If you want a fancy official one, Chin Mounts have released their Fleximount which is larger so even less likely to budge. Use code tiptoe for 10% off 😏

    I don't like it when I need to scratch my nose, sneeze or cough. Or when my nose runs. Young people will start riding motorcycles again when they can no longer afford cars - just like in India, Indonesia, China, Vietnam, Thailand and Pakistan. Or like me. I'm 66 and mainly got a motorcycle again because it is cheaper and has a better fuel economy than a car. It also reminds me about the days in the seventies and eighties when my girlfriend and I toured all over Europe on my £800 Suzuki GT550 with an old tent and old sleeping bags. Good times.

    There’s a lot of negatives about biking but if I could go back I’d do it all again but I’d stay at home on the days I crashed or got nicked 😂. Joking aside the real obstacle is cost, I’ve said before - you have to crave what bikes offer because on paper it makes zero sense to choose one over a car. Once you’ve fadged around getting licences etc it’s not even cheap anymore. I think you posted on Instagram about trying to get an insurance quote on a ZX4RR a few days ago, a bike designed to appeal to younger riders. If you can’t even get a quote then what’s the point of it all?

    • @TipToeBikers
      @TipToeBikers  4 дні тому

      Yeah i could probably get a quote if I rang up and specified A2 licence, A2 restricted bike... but in general the new bikes that are coming out for the A2 market are impossible to insure even though we're the target market 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @fenrir7969
      @fenrir7969 21 годину тому

      You have to remember what a shit show the UK is, both for insurance and just in general. The best bet here for youngsters is old classic machines, they are much cheaper to insure than modern ones, despite modern bikes being safer as they often have better brakes and suspension, plus electronic aids like ABS and traction control.

    Never mod out you're first bike. Its a waste of money. You're going to grow out it within a season. Everything for motorcycles is expensive, so get yourself a slip on exhaust and save the rest of that money for you're next bike. Also, mods aren't going to increase the resale value (no one cares) and considering how much you have done many dealerships wont take it on trade in if its heavily modded.
    Oh, and don't buy cheat amazon parts. Especially when it comes to controls or protection. You're regret it. You get what you pay for.
