If you have just picked up one of these beautiful plants and want to know how to look after it then this is the video for you. I’m going to go through a full care guide and also tell you the one thing that you really mustn’t do with these plants which will certainly cause it to die.
Light: Bright Indirect light - more light than less, not direct midday sun but will tolerate some direct sun.
Soil: Good drainage soil with some grit - cactus mix will work.
Fertilizer: Feed once per month in the summer with a general-purpose feed
Pruning: Prune them a few times in the summer for your own taste, this will encourage a more compact growth or leave it to do its own thing and it will create more of a weeping look.
Watering:- will tolerate being a little dry for a while better than too wet.
THE ONE THING: Don’t leave it to sit in water - prone to root rot - better a little dry than constantly wet.

I just did my first propagation attempt via cuttings. They are stupid easy and successfully did it the first time around. Did it for science reasons just to see if I could do it.

Here in the Philippines, ficus benjamina grows well in 8-hour strong direct sunlight.. their leaves are healthy green in direct full sun.

Thanks for the info, my ficus seems more happy in full sun too.

I think humidity plays a huge role when we talk about sun exposure. If you've got a plant inside a house with central heating somewhere in Europe (let's say 26% humidity like in my place) and you expose it to 8 h of direct sun I don't think it'll be very happy. But place a humidifier next to it and it will be able to benefit from direct sun without it harming the plant.

I bought one of these plants but my plant has only one stem, and I was wondering how you got yours to look so pretty with three stems also. Can you use these plants for bonsai

I explain at the beginning of the video that the growers grow three plants and plat them together to make the plant look like this. you can use Ficus for bonsai yes.

I have one of these growing against a retaining wall. Will the roots destroy the wall?

I doubt it will become an issue unless it gets very big.

Look where ficuses are from and where they grow, most of the varieties love to be in the direct sun. 😊 apart from this one point, that I don't really agree with, it's a great video I lots of good tips. Especially the watering technique is spot on!❤
