  • You have tons of veggies to cut. You can get exceptional with knives, or you can get a mandoline slicer. Cut all your veggies super-fast. They have extremely consistent thicknesses! Did you cut your tomatoes too thin? Switch to the thick cut. Do you want to julienne your potatoes? Switch to the julienne insert. This mandoline is so super easy to use. It has been a game changer for dinner prep. One word of warning: the blades are very sharp. Don’t cut yourself. Danger is minimized using the safety handhold. Despite the risk, we absolutely love this new kitchen tool.

Bring the veggie all the way to the end of the slicer to get a good running start at the blade. Also don't press down too hard on the holder. This causes friction and slows your momentum.Let the blade do the work.I found the instructions somewhat vague and it's nice to have videos like this.Good job.

I'd recommend using it the opposite way around - pull towards you, rather than pushing away.

Won't work that way. this is the Borne swiss slicer...with a 'catcher'..used one for over 30 years..love it but I use it from the side not from the end.

    Despite lack of written instructions...
The hand guard is to be used only when the hand would be dangerously close. Carrots at their full length - is not the case.
I used such slicer for years until the V blade broke. Any kind of slicing - I forgot what knife was 🤣
it’s a great machine. No electricity required.

You have to press down on the center of the lid with the palm of your hand to lock it to the holder when storing.😉

I got a borner slicer last week.
It's good. But they need to do something about the wasted half carrot

This is a very poor demonstration of the V slicer.
I've had an original one from when they were first out and it’s been brilliant although the holder plastic is now starting to degrade. This was caused by years of it being stored in sunlight (we do get some in the U.K. 🙂) near the kitchen window.
Anyone doing a demo for youtube should practise first. Totally incorrect onion slicing and those potatoes looked unwashed. If they have any soil on them it will blunt the blades.
    Check out Börner's own video!

I think you're supposed to hold the mandolin on a slant .
