Oh! I didn't know that he was in rockstar. Devaanand sir, Shammi kapoor are my favourites of that era.
All these Kishore & Rafi songs are absolute classics. Each of them. No other singer has this legacy.

These 250 songs are mostly his solo songs..many of his best songs as also duets with Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosale, Geeta Dutt etc. He was so versatile that he changed his voice for each actor..mood etc. Very emotive . His range was fabulous. He is God for Sonu Nigam and many other aspiring singers ...he was their role model. That golden era was melodious songs with great poetry and lyrics. Demanding music directors and composers who recorded with live orchestra of 50 plus musicians. Certainly no auto tuning.. Rafi saheb has sung thousands of songs..a true legend

Most of the actors were kapoor family members i.e Ranbir Kapoor's grand father and grandpa's brothers, his uncles and the one wale asked was shammi kapoor..
Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Shammi Kapoor.. these were top actors of 50s-60s.
Then came Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, Jeentendra, Rajkumar, later amitabh bachchan, vinod khanna, shashi Kapoor, vinod mehra etc..

Shammi Kapoor would not allow anyone else to sing for him, M Rafi Saheb was known as his voice. They collaborated closely with Shammi ji inputting how he wants the song sung and vibe he wants. Same with his brother Raj Kapoor, known as the greatest showman and Mukesh. They had the same kind of collaboration.

@@kaamdev810 no actually Kishore Kumar sahab started singing for Dev Anand sahab as him a top star. Once Rajesh Khanna become the super star he used his voice and later followed by Amitabh bacchan sahab.

Felt nice to go through our golden era.... Not sure whether you noticed it or not. Recently you reacted to Top 20 sad songs which featured only recent tracks. Rafi saab is iconic in a way that his tracks swayed through all emotions yet sad ones cut through our hearts.

That hot dude is Shammi Kapoor. I had a mashi (elder sister of my mother) who was a huge fan of his dance. She used to dance with us whenever we played Chahe koi mujhe junglee kahe, Yeh chand sa roshan chehra. She passed away this year. Whenever me and my cousins get together, we play those songs and cherish her memory. She used to dance like a little kid whenever we played those. I miss her so much.

Three kapoor brothers- Raj kapoor, Shammi Kapoor and Shashi kapoor. Randhir Kpoor, Rishi kapoor and Rajiv Kapor are sons of eldest brother Raj Kapoor. Karisma and Kareena Kapoor are daughters of Randhir Kapoor. Ranbeer kapoor is son of Rishi Kapoor as you know already.
You should definitely do another B&W special! You could check out some gold singers like Hemant Kumar, Mukesh, Talat Mahmood, Shailendra. They are not known among the younger generations as much anymore but they’re definitely one of the best if not the best voices of India.

Last film of the legendary Meena Kumari and well worth watching. You’ll that in this 2972 film Lata’s voice sound much younger than her 70s voice.
Song No. 109. Take a Note. It was way ahead of time. It has been used in some Hollywood movies as well, Heineken ad featured that song and theirs a Belgian band which played the cover of this song. Should listen to it.

Love this video. Mohd. Rafi was one of my favourite 5 playback singers. The other 4 singers are Mukesh, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Boshle.

They had a disagreement and didn’t sing together for about 4 years during the 1960s. They finally made up and resumed singing together in 1967. During that period they duetted with other singers such as Kishore & Asha Bhosle, but those recordings as wonderful as they were, were never what they could’ve been if Lata & Rafi sang them.
P.s Perhaps a compilation of ‘Haunting’ melodies might be fun, not sure if anyone has put one together 🤔
Yes, that hot man was Shammi Kapoor ji, the face of M Rafi Sahib, a lethal combination. Shammi ji was hot handsome funny and unique. He had his own style of acting and never rehearsed not even for his songs, he was spontaneous. SRK got his handspread from him and he was the first item boy in the open shirt drenched in the rain. He was known as the Elvis Presley of Bwood and he was doing his own stunts before Akshay. He was Yahoo before Yahoo was a thing. Kareena inherited his distinctive walking style 😅. You should react to his Yahoo song, your audience will love it and a movie with great songs of Rafi n him is AN EVENING IN PARIS....that was his essence with Sharmila Tagore, a legendary actress and mother of Saif Ali Khan performing some cabaret numbers at Folies Bregere. Even if you don’t react to it, you’ll have fun checking it out.

The eldest brother in Kapoor family was Raj Kapoor, then Shammi Kapoor and the youngest was Shashi Kapoor. For me when I think of Raj Kapoor , I always remember the singer Mukesh who was Raj Kapoor's singing voice or singer. When I remember Shammi Kapoor, I remember Mohd. Rafi Shammi's voice or singer. And finally, when I remember Shashi Kapoor, I remember Kishore Kumar as his singing voice or singer.
