  • Hey, I am an Indian student studying in France for almost the past three years. Ever since I moved to France for my studies, I have received so many questions regarding everything from the student life in France, costs of living, and most of all, the admission requirements of French universities. Today I’m going to answer one big question:
    IS IT REALLY WORTH STUDYING IN FRANCE?

      and game programming course in public universities.

      Hey Vishant! Even though there are many public universities in Paris, from my research, I cannot find any that are offering a course in game programming. However, here are a few reputable names of institutes that offer the program that you are interested in (private): ISART and LISAA Paris. If you are interested in studying game programming in universities elsewhere in France, type in your interests on www.academiccourses.com and it will list down various programmes for you! Hope this helps!

      K Trashh I did not apply for CAF, however, the website gave me an approximate amount of €120. Also, €700 for each of you in Paris is actually a good amount! you should always reconfirm with your landlord if the house is applicable for CAF, many houses aren’t...

    helloo just wondering when do admissions usually open? For example I want to apply for school year 2021-2022, do they open admissions around this time or they do it the same year?

    • @KaranPunjabi
      @KaranPunjabi  3 роки тому

      Typically admissions would open as soon as February-April for the September intake and around November for the January intake. You still might have to wait to begin your student visa application as that cannot be applied for over 3 months before your program starts in most countries. All these dates might have changed in light of the pandemic...in any case, each uni will have their application deadlines on the homepages of their websites.

      For the next university year starting in September 2021, it's unfortunately too late for public universities.
      French students have to register on this website called "Parcoursup", on which a vast majority of public universities are available. It usually starts in November/December of the year before the school year you want to attend

      such a good question!! I would honestly say if you find a good bachelors degree in India (or wherever you are), first complete your UG there and then head to France for masters...this is IF you have to chose between the two! A masters degree is more appreciated when looking for a job and masters degrees in French universities are ranked higher globally than their bachelors

    • @KaranPunjabi
      @KaranPunjabi  3 роки тому +4

      Hey Chaitanya, I studied French in school from grade 4-10. I even gave my 10th grade boards in French. This was the only I learned the foundation of the language.
      If you want to learn French, I’d really suggest downloading flashcard apps that teach you using imagery. Duolingo is the most common one. Once you do this, start rewatching shows that you are familiarized with in French, with English subtitles. Can be any show like Friends or even movies like Harry Potter.
      Additionally, you can go online and find platforms where strangers are willing to help correct your pronunciation. I feel like this is your best way to begin!! After this you can invest time into books, French comics, and read about the culture which will set perspective to the language...Hope this helps!

      If you’re confused and don’t know where to begin: I would start listing down universities you’re most interested in. Since it’s admissions season there are a countless number of webinars, virtual open days, Instagram live sessions that these schools are conducting.
      Once you choose a university, the next steps ahead are relatively very easy lol, apart from the admissions itself and getting accepted, you just have to apply for the visa (again, super simple, just speak to Campus France India) You’re all set wooo

      All depends on the Universities required and also which course you are applying course
      For eg: if you are studying for fashion they colleges don't really see your score admission depends on your
      Portfolio they just require your 12th transcript and minimum ielts score is 6 but probably depends on the college just go check through the college website and fill up all there requirements

    Hey Karan... Your video is simply great..
    Thankyou for guiding..
    I have one teeny-tiny Query, If you can help out.
    My Younger Brother is done with '10th Boards' recently in (2021). He is entering in '11th', and crazy about doing 'Bachelors in Computers Science' (CS) from PSL University (France) or Ecole Polytechnique (France) or MIT (USA), after '12th'.
    So, for (CS) is it necessary to have Science Subjects (PCM) in 11th and 12th, or can he opt out of a certain subject (Say Chemistry) and still go ahead with (English, Maths, Physics, Computers, etc.) and still be good to be eligible to be accepted there..?

    • @KaranPunjabi
      @KaranPunjabi  3 роки тому

      Hey, I checked the websites of the two French universities you mentioned. Firstly, there isn’t a particular subject requirement for students coming from abroad. This means that even someone with a accounts background would be considered. However, math seems like a compulsion as it is an important part throughout the 3 years of an undergrad in Computer science. So Yes I think your brother is 100% fine if he skips on chemistry, for example.
      In Ecole Polytechnique, students can choose math + physics/CS/economics in year 2 and 3. It even specifies that “math is at the centre of the program”.
      programmes.polytechnique.edu/en/bachelor/bachelor-of-science
      All the best!

    • @KaranPunjabi

      so yeah even if he lets go of Physics and chemistry, i’d suggest he always keeps that math running!!

    Hey Karan, 👋 this was so helpful and you've already cleared a thousands of my doubts! But I would like to ask a few couple of things like clearingJEE Main would somewhat help me in making my profile strong? And just 12th grades along with IELTS would be enough to apply for a engineering university for UG!?
    P.S: I am in 12th right now!

    • @KaranPunjabi
      @KaranPunjabi  3 роки тому

      Hey, thanks for that, appreciate it! As far as I am aware, JEE Main is not recognized in France, that being said, it’s only going to “strengthen” your profile IF the university you’re interested in specifies so...I doubt this will be the case as I do not see any resources in France even merely mentioning JEE on their websites. So yes your 12th grades coupled with IELTS scores should be adequate to receive an offer from an Engineering UG in France!

      Depends on where you are in France, there are varied opportunities and additionally, your university needs to agree for you to work. It’s not “hard” but can take a lot of time, interviews, and online applications to find a part-time job so it’s good to start searching well in advance.

      Hey Alex! Yep, as I’m doing a Business program , I mentioned it in the every beginning of the video as most information that i’ve spoken of is pertaining to it. Business programs don’t require any additional exams at a undergraduate level as MBA degrees require GRE/GMAT. There will always be an exception of a few universities requiring SAT but I spoke about it more generally haha! Regarding not speaking about the tuition fee, I initially filmed it as a part of this video but realized it’s not fair to talk about it as there’s a wide gap between fees for undergraduate and master programs in France. They can go anywhere upto €70000 for a masters, hence, might cover that in a future video! Wanted to keep this one more generalized and basic. Thank you so much, I’m glad you like it 🥰

      Here are some very affordable (yet top-ranked) universities in France for Bachelors:
      University of Paris (u-paris.fr/les-chiffres-cles/)
      University of Orleans (www.univ-orleans.fr/fr)
      University de Montpellier ( www.umontpellier.fr)
      University of Strasbourg (en.unistra.fr/)
      University of Burgundy, École Normale Supérieure Paris, École Centrale de Lyon.
      The tuition fees for these range from as low as €180 a year to €2500 a year and most of them have multiple courses in English

      very honestly, I’m not sure yet! Atleast for a few years before I decide to move elsewhere! Ummm it’s not “difficult” per say, it depends on a variety of factors, good idea to apply for jobs well in advance and try multiple positions rather than applying to just 2/3 openings! Also, depends on language requirements and qualifications, they’re always looking for dynamic work experience.

    Is this worth studying in France admist the corona situation? I'm admitted to a business school in grenoble and I'm just worried that the job situation will be bad after this situation help me out if you could

    • @KaranPunjabi
      @KaranPunjabi  4 роки тому

      Hey Sakshi! France has been under strict lockdown since almost two months now. Most international students, including me and my friends, headed back to their home countries considering the unlikeliness of the coronavirus situation. All our classes and final exams have been moved online and we are expected to begin a new semester in September, as we normally would.
      If you have been accepted into your university for the programme starting in September, the situation will not affect your studies unless the coronavirus situation blows out of proportion. If you are already attending university in Grenoble and are worried about getting job offers post graduating, all I can say is that the current scenario is a bit foggy. As the corona storm passes, the market is expected to be a bit slower than usual but overtime, everything is expected to fall back to normal...Not only in France but even the rest of the world for that matter. On the other hand, a lot of candidates are considering this time as a great opportunity to apply for jobs, I think you should get on LinkedIn and send across your resumé to companies of your interest.
      I found this article that might help you:

    • @KaranPunjabi

      Yes!! A lot of people apply to universities during the final months of grade 12! The university will give you a conditional offer. This means that as soon as your results are out, you have to send your mark-sheets to the university. If you meet the grades agreed upon, you will be admitted into the university right there.

    • @KaranPunjabi
      @KaranPunjabi  4 роки тому +1

      I am no expert regarding IELTS but I believe that they are conducting a few exams online at the moment. If not, you can write a letter along with your application saying that you do not have access to the exams because of the pandemic. Universities are well aware of the current scenario and many have even altered their admission requirements or will help candidates through the process. If you want to know more about IELTS, go to their website and call up your local centers to ask when you can give the exam at the earliest. Hope this helps.

    Hey
    I am about to start my masters in data science atUniversité Côte d'Azur, in Nice from September2020 .Any recommendations for finding cheap accommodation.?

    • @KaranPunjabi
      @KaranPunjabi  4 роки тому

      Hey! That's lovely!
      Check out these websites for affordable student accommodation options in Nice:
      www.nexity-studea.com
      www.estudines.com
      www.fac-habitat.com/en/
      www.student-factory.com/en
      housinganywhere.com
      Many of the apartments on these websites are close to Université Côte d'Azur!
      Best way to find cheap accommodation is to ask your 1) your university's international office or 2) get on facebook groups/Instagram and get in touch with students that are currently studying in the university/are graduating this year. These students can help you with landlords and rental agencies contacts that are harder to find on the internet. Rental costs in Nice mainly depend on the area the apartment is in and wether the building has facilities such as an elevator/heating, etc.
      Another tip I can give you is to join the Facebook group "English Speakers on the French Riviera", write a post here saying you're looking for an apartment (along with your monthly budget) and many people will reach out to you directly!
      You're going to love Nice! Looking forward to seeing you around! À bientôt!

      There are no specializations, the course is like any other BBA/BBM program-covers a wide range of fields like accounting, HR, operations, etc.
