Country Club Hills Il. ( 20 min south of Chicago) still has one of these on top of the hose tower. Bought it from WS Darley in 1968. It still works but it was replaced with the more powerful FS 2001. On a side note, I dont understand how the siren housings (on many sirens) get so banged up even when theyre on top of a roof or telephone pole. You did a nice job restoring a very dependable old siren. Ours never failed, but it doesnt wind up or coast as well as yours does.
***** East Hazel Crest IL has an sth 10 with horns I can easily hear it from about 7 statute miles. It has a lower tone (maybe dual) and has a distinctive growl. There's a 2001 less than a mile away that has no punch to it and it sounds like a leaf blower
they have never complained I have only run it about six times the garage is isulated to , I thought it might blow out the window but it hasn't yet thanks for the comment
@crazywarriorman No I Just Have The Darley ,The Federal,And My Silly Little Pee wee Siren I Am Wanting A Model 7 Federal Some Day , Do You Have Any heavy Sirens?
I know you made this comment 10 years ago, but Darley Model 5T's are extremely rare, same goes for the 5TT's, but if you haven't yet, I wish you luck :)
I'd say your 5T is from the 50's. If not then Early 60s. Don't you own a couple other sirens too? I've seen this siren in someone's Flickr album along with some others.
How Old Do You Think It Is? I Have No Literature On It ,The Chopper Is In Good Shape And There Was Only A Few Nicks On The Port Edges , So I just Filed Them Straight Again The Cover Is What Took Some Sort Of Beating Maybe A Tree
No it isn't. You'll find the SD-10 / 500SH-TT have a three bladed chopper whose sound is much smoother than that of an Allertor's Or this Darley for example.
That is so cool. The chopper even looks good especially for its age.
5TT
Sounds very good
0:20 RIP Headphone users
The shroud is raising an eyebrow
That was cool.
Sweet!!
Nice 7T!
@Droideka133 It's nothing but a re-badged federal 5T.
Sounds like an ACA Howler
There's some metal work and probably a bit of motor restoration involved, too.
Sounds like an SD-10 without the housing, they must have the same choppers.
Sounds like Allertor, but EARRRAPE.
@Droideka133 SD-10s are 9/12 port, just like the Allertor and the 5T. 9/12 is my favorite combination.

sth 10 with lower tone (maybe dual)? Could it be a 2t22 or 3t22?
@Droideka133 I Think It Does Too I Agree, It Turns At 3200 Rpm's I Thought It Would Break Out The Glass In The Garage But It Held Up
Aready did that by accident spinning it by hand it almost CUT IT OFF I was Lucky
I found an 8 port Darley Champion. I'm getting it.
they have never complained I have only run it about six times the garage is isulated to , I thought it might blow out the window but it hasn't yet thanks for the comment
does this have the same port ratio as the ACA Allator? it sounds like one
Duh 9/12
Sounds like an ACA allerter.
Same port ratio
mans got a whole ww2 siren in the garage
Yes I think it is the same federal made parts for this siren
12/9 port?
@crazywarriorman No I Just Have The Darley ,The Federal,And My Silly Little Pee wee Siren I Am Wanting A Model 7 Federal Some Day , Do You Have Any heavy Sirens?
the name of this siren makes a great table (get it? TT
tornadosirenlover100 LOL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
the housing looks beat up
No shit sherlock. its refurbished. *Facepalm*
how's your hearing?
@Droideka133 Sure Does. SD 10s are 9/12.
The siren looks like a 7T by Federal Signal. Does FS build sirens for Darley?
I have a Fedelcode Model 5. I'm planning on getting something bigger at the end of the month, though. Strange thing, I am wanting a 5T some day.
I know you made this comment 10 years ago, but Darley Model 5T's are extremely rare, same goes for the 5TT's, but if you haven't yet, I wish you luck :)
That bigger thing was a Hurricane!
All ready Happened I Amost Cut Off my index finger doing a hand spin test I was Lucky
Does darley copy Federal sirens?
Where do you get that many Volts for a residential house?
He used a voltage convertor probably.
Sirens of NE Ohio In Germany you dont need an voltage converter. You get 230v out of the wall.
In America most houses are supplied with 240v power
Most electric clothes dryers use 240 too
Not sure ? it's more like the federal 5T And SD 10

that's a loud finger slicer
Those bearings are probably seated by now

It's around 1970 vintage
What is a housing for? Does it amplify the sound at all?
i think it is just for looks, only use i could see is to beam the sound down. but correct me if im wrong
@@Faraday1056 that is the reason
Also keeps the rain out of the siren so the siren itself doesn’t rust
Tornado sirens should be built to withstand weather, so they make strong housings to protect the motor and other parts.
@Droideka133 I Thought The Same Thing It Does
The chopper is the same type used in FS SD-10's isn't it
No it isn't. You'll find the SD-10 / 500SH-TT have a three bladed chopper whose sound is much smoother than that of an Allertor's Or this Darley for example.
Mr.Someone \Tom/ Actually an SD-10 is nothing more than a model 5T with a funky shroud.
Valtonus Yes. It's one of those comments I leave without thinking about. I'm not quite sure what I was talking about lol. Yeah exact same choppers.
Well Federal did make the "guts" for it
Anyone else see sparks? O.O
Brian Hill me
It will wear itself in. Lol
Those aren't sparks it's dust blowing from the air
@@marylandsirensfirebuff9664 damn bro took me some digging to find this old comment from when I was 14 lmao.
Thanks for the reply though 👍
@@nahbro6399 oh lol your welcome
sounds like a sdh10
Your poor neighboors
Despite it be happy go lucky the siren is probably broke apart and used for parts
It's a sd-10
it sounds like allertor
123usauae because is 9/12 port
