Seeing your fuel pump instal I'd say you can never have enough fire extinguishers 😊
The alloys on the white sierra are TSW Hockenheims if memory serves correct (90's was a while ago lol)
Hockenheim R I believe these were.
Only last year in my eyes 😁
@@deanoscott I thought the R versions had a fake centre lock nut cover ?
@@austingreen6042 the hocks and the hock r came with that cap, it was the style of the spokes that were different. Hard to explain but the hock r, had a softer spoke design
@@austingreen6042 and this car has that cap and nut
I remember the Apache, built by Jeff Uren in the 1970s? 👍
Good stuff as always Mr MH.
Suggestion time: Look into covering up the fuel pump. They don't really get exposed to the elements on a bike. Tucked away under the fuel tank they really don't see any rain/moisture at all. The standard cover doesn't seem water-tight in the slightest either, more splash resistant, if anything. They go for 30,000+ miles like that from my experience.
It might be a bit of a faff plumbing it but, Maybe if you still have the facet and reg, you could have them feed the bike pump (or possibly a surge tank type affair) with a low pressure and return, allowing you to mount it all inside the car out of the weather. Like I said it's a faff, but I reckon it should work, help with reliability and make for an interesting boot setup.
I reckon its that, or have somebody 3d print you up a cover... Good luck
Thanks you guys for coming. Great to see you as ever. Thanks 😉😉
Thanks for the invite mate! 👍
Thanks for showing the lineup of cars, the work that is put into some of them that is showing what each person thinks will make it look good makes their individual thinking show so the person that makes the green and white Anglia look the way it does I love it.
The wheels on the MK2 fiesta are called Weller's. Great video as usual my son 👍👍👍
Love the cars you showed us,thank you
Great idea fitting the fire extinguisher because mod is a ticking time bomb. Your fuel pipe system is a mess and your wiring loom is also a mess with your bodging expertise. I hope you never need to use it but there's a very good chance that you will so good thinking big man. Cheers dude 🥃
Jeff uren built those alongside the cortina savage
and Capri Comanche ?
Awesome 👍🏽👍🏻😀 I'm still waiting for parts now for my drive shaft, and look forward to driving my Rav4 around hopefully soon
Wow loving the 3 litre mk 1 😍😍😍brilliant love it nice to see Maude on its way to being back on road 😊😊😊
Brilliant as always Marcus
Saw the Escort V6 in my home town St.Neots last Sunday, thought it was a crackin piece of kit, very smart.
A common mod since way back was to use an SU fuel pump when swapping out carbs for DCOEs and DHLAs etc. These can be picked up for a tenner or so off Ebay and rebuild kits still made . They function exactly the same as that Chinese one and cuts off automatically when float chambers are full and no need for a return . I used them when I began fitting bike carbs to restricted formula fuel injected engines decades ago. I still run 2 SU pumps on my race car ( one back up - still unused ) although slightly modded with a few electronic components under the cap . My race car runs the stock type ECU for spark but the injector outs run through 4 x 15 ohm 25W aluminium clad resistors as I have to run a DMTL carb as no fuel injection allowed .
Rare Fords Mk3 3.0V6 GXL Cortina ( where the 3000 GXL on the Escort originated) all built to order at Fords AVO in Avely Essex . Typically metallic green on AVO 4 spoke alloy wheels . 1600 BDA Escorts as homologation specials but on sale to the public . I bought 2 engines to power an offshore powerboat many years ago but that project ended and I sold them on . These engines in 1500cc form powered the Toleman F1 Team ( Dagenham Essex based) making 800-900 bhp turbocharged . These engines now fetch more than most cars seen at that meet . The PRV engine in the DeLorean has great potential and 3 of these making around 750hp finished at Leland under the Peugeot Racing banner .The engine was a join collaboration between Peugeot , Renault and Volvo the later 24 valve engine was used by Pug until dropped and will make good power as it has an excellent stiff crank and lower integral crankcase/maincap design .
Someone has already tagged the Hockeheims , based on the WEC racing wheels back then which required lots of airflow from the brakes , but the spoked steels are probably Weller .
Pmsl 🤣 you and them cable ties, I'm just as bad😉 do the job👍
Great video Marcus can't wait to meet you in person at Santa Pod next month
Awesome
That Mk 1 3 ltr escort is a Unicorn of utter beauty 😍
Luved that. V8 Sierra And Mk one v6 esky but the creme dela creme was the mk one yb cosworth cool ride mint idea with the fire extinguisher!!
Just a sec, two weeks latter ,wot? Just luv your vids 😃 Your approach to car maintenance is interesting as usual, with your cable tie fuel pump mount & quick release chocolate block wire connectors . Don't ever change.👍😂
If it works it works mate! 👍 . . . . . . until it fails! 😃
Interesting.................. 👍👍
Thank god a video, I was getting escort withdrawal. 😂🚙
Sorry for the delay! 😃
Yes that delorian looks well better in black great videos mate 👍👍👍
I had a couple of runs in a V6 mk 1 as a kid in the 70s , I think it was called a Vita 6 , it had some alloy panels from memory. The guy who had it smashed it but kept it and it basically rotted away. In latter years he did similar with a mid engine v6 Clio . A bit of an eccentric
The alloys on the white Saff are TSW Hockenheim ......No Drifting Here lol a select meet some great cars.
Thanks for the info mate! 👍 Im not great at remembering names of wheels. . . . . . or anything else to be honest! 😃
nice one and good content as usual that mk1 was awsome and 3ltr aswell bet that is rapid
Thanks again fella
Enjoyed that as per
Cheers
Thanks for watching mate! 👍
LOVE that Apache Escort. Love that those South African Ford folk would always go bigger is better under the bonnet !!
Very interesting, been around escorts since they first appeared and never heard of a V in one as standard or semi standard.
Great motors here Marcus a black DeLorean nice wow love that rare Mk 1 Escort with the V6 in 😎😎😎😎
I do enjoy the videos marcus
Although I learned to drive as a kid in fields, tracks, old airfields, I learned to drive and passed my test in a dark blue MK3, 1.6 GL Escort. One of my favourite cars was the 1.3 MK3 Escort van, great gearbox, it was nippy (until the cambelt gave out at 29k miles!). I'd heard of newly released MK3 cam belts failing at 1000-2000 miles. I like the CVH but it can be problematic - cracked exhaust manifolds etc too.
But fond memories of MK3 Escorts, my first car was a MK2 Escort.
My family have had lots of Ford's, always got on well with them, but I seem to be unlucky with em🤔🙄🙄😄😇☹️
Yours looks smart with the alloys, tidy motor👍😊😊
That MK1 3000GT is to die for, awesome! I'd rather that than - although I love em - a MK2 RS 2000.
Thanks for sharing 👍😊
Well done on the fire stick, best thing to buy with an old classic car!
I have always planned to fit a hand held fire extinguisher to both cars but the firestick seems like a much neater idea. 👍
Might be worth getting getting a large jubilee clip for the fuel pump, cost pennies and don't break, also would compress the rubber boot 👍🏻
Glad ya finally getting to the bottom of the problem 👍👍👍
👍
Fire stick is a great decision 👍
Awesome video bruva 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks mate! 👍
Good video as always. Hope that in line filter is the right around .
Thanks mate! 👍 Yes the filter is in the line from the tank to the pump so its defo the correct way round.
Good lord what a bodge with the wiring and the wiring in general. Choc block connectors have no place in a car electrical system save for maybe speaker connections. I think you are going to need those fire sticks someday!!
The Escort is mega cool
My friend raced mk1 mk2 escorts.Always mounted fuel pump inside boot.Think it was facet fuel pump.Cleaner and safer there.
Good vid mate !!!
Thanks mate! 👍
Thank you Marcus another great episode. Nice to see Mord ready to run.
Thanks for watching mate! 👍
I had same escort n colour the blue one
Some awesome cars there m8 ....cool place ....👍good video fella ....the alloys on the fiesta next to the Mercedes I think are Weller wheels originally only white ....
Thanks for the info mate! 👍 Glad you enjoyed the video! 👍
Really good content again mate.. still think u should turbo Esther 😉.. any updates on the new project
Glad you’ve got the fuel pump. Sorted , hope all’s good when you get the ECU back .👍
Fingers crossed mate! 🤞
Ha ha u should be a tv prenster u getting good I say u could give Richard Hammond run for is money great video as always
My 1st car was a Mk1 Escort with a Lotus 1.6 Twin Cam engine, Mini-Lite Wheels, a Roll-Cage and 4point harness Recaros...........It had flared arches and a rear-spoiler like this Apache, Black with the white Ford Stripes.........I bought it in 1980 from my big sisters ex-boyfriend, for £500.......
4:18 Can't help but think a bonnet scoop above those throttle bodies might be a fun mod. Maybe done on a 2nd bonnet though, to keep the original look when preferred.
Back in the day when 105 Es ( Harry Potter Anglia's for the kids) were running Ford V6 DFV race engines , high pressure air was taken from the base of the windscreen into a plenum under the original interior vent louvres to feed the carbs . Since the 70s I have built many fast road cars from 1650cc Mk1 Cortinas etc. to 800+ bhp Nissan Skylines, 750+ bhp Supras , 400+ bhp Escort Cosworths , 600 bhp Nissan ZXTTurbos ( with my charge coolers), BMW M3 twin turbos using Mitsubishi GTO turbos and tube manifold to miss the steering column , and began motorcycle carb and throttle body installations for restricted formulas back in the 90s. Built parts for the late and much missed Tom Walkinshaws TWRs Cosworth Team ( for which I still have chips and hex files ) to rebuilt Turbos for Thames River Police . Fast bikes both 2 and 4 strokes and currently designing and building a Triumph 675R F2 sidecar .
I'm getting a little old for boy racing but I own 2 now very rare US built Honda Accord V6 Coupes undergoing mods , race a Honda Logo Rod , have a little 1600cc 3 door Honda Civic for screaming around country lanes and a Honda 4WD for towing and use as a van .
The common tweek for fuel pumps for DCOEs and DHLAs was a simple SU pump from a number of vehicles which do not flood carbs and automatically shut down without the need of a return or pressure regulator . In fact I still run one on my hot rod race car , although tricked up with a simple electronic control system under the cap .
Not really Ford guy I'm into Hondas , but was very proud of my Mk3 Escort Turbo charge cooler conversion which as a direct replacement of the original plastic air/air intercooler and picked up an extra 30bhp at the wheels on the dyno .
Hi Marcus, you should check out a UA-camer mad4tar I think 🧐, most of the Ford escorts you checked out in Ireland can be seen doing actual rallies and they look awesome. Great video Marcus.
Wowzers, with scotch locks and cable ties im surprised you have reliability issues 😃😂🤦🏻♂️
😃 Yeh the cable ties made my fuel pump and ECU fail! 😃
Nice video 👍💯
Thanks mate! 👍
Wonder if there are any Crayford Eliminator Escorts left?
Seeing the Escort Apache V6 reminded me of the Eliminator V6 from my days in the Crayford club with my Corsair.
I'm unsure how many Eliminators were produced.
The colour of the maroon sapphire that you describe is actually called magenta. I had a 2wd one same colour but cloth interior back in the day !
Thanks for the info mate! 👍 When I was editing the video I thought I remembered my mate Wes (with the sleeper Zetec Turbo Mk4 Fez in the same colour) telling me it was called magenta.
So glad you listened to Franks advice 👍
That wiring and fuel = 🔥 and I deffo don’t want that to happen , I’d miss the entertainment 🤣👍
Wires mean fires!! 🔥 . . . . . . . If 'Maude' ever does go up in flames I'll defo try to film it. Would make an 'interesting' video! 😃
🤣 the paint would burn for hours 🤣👍
Invest in some wago connectors, more reliable than choc blocks
Marcus..you are missing The Donegal International Rally. 3 days of fast tarmac rallying with the greatest spread of Mark 2 escorts in europe at one rally. 167 entrants in main field. Swaeeeeeet! #TheDonegalInternationalRally June 17/18/19.
There were 3 V6 mk1 escorts made by Ford UK, Peter Sellers had one and I've seen a second one in a barn about 25 years ago.
3.0 Essex V6, and there was also the Mk 2 Cortina Savage, also with the Essex V6. Can't recall who made those.
@@johnfellows2867 Yes the Savages by Jeff Uren were great cars.👌🏽
Weller old skool wheels you cant remember, on the mk2 fez
Thanks for the info mate! 👍
GREAT VIDEO FROM YOU ARE ARE YOU GOING TO BROMLEY MOTOR PAGEANT ON SUNDAY THE 12th😎😎👍👍
I need the apache in my life ❤️
Its such a cool Mk1! 👍 The owner was saying he MIGHT sell it for the right price.
Nice 1 marcus , mcgiver everything mate that's Hayes way lol
Defo mate! 😃 'Maude' gets everything bodged!! . . . . . So does 'Esther' but I make the bodges look more 'proper' 😃
Sorry, but it just looks like a total bodge up, even if you still need to tidy it up. With a bit of thought you could have made a much better , tidier pump mounting. Fit a proper plug and socket to the pump wiring.
How do you get your McDonalds burger thru the window in the blue escort? What if you're really slumming it and get wimpys??
Pity you did not show the V8 engine in the XR4?
insurance wise(mk3) could you not be a named nominated driver under your dad or Kat?
fully comp (social domestic commuting and pleasure ) ownership would have to be under the main policy holder i think ?
Invite only car meets......just when you thought you'd heard it all....
When someone says a ford you don't know I think SOUTH AFRICA 🌍
Like the 4,1 litre inline 6 Cortina from Australia🤘🤘

Poštovani! Imam Ford Escort mk3 xr3 1.6,71kw. Osjetljiv je na neravnine i lošu cestu. Kako riješiti problem, da bude udoban?
5:18
How's that going to get an MOT ?
I do t get why you wouldn’t be aloud to drive the car, just get another insurance provider it would be cheap for you as you’re older
what are those wheels on your dads Mk3?
Hey bud have you tried running a vw coil pack on the zetec .according to it they are more reliable than the ford
Eerr shum geezer browt is mk 1 cortina...y know wot I meen.
Why on earth would you use those connector blocks?
The cossie with the wheels you didn’t know bud look like TSW HOCKENHIEMS, the met blue fiesta that you thought had banded steelies I am sure they are Weller wheels, same make as the other fiesta had on it, and I am sure the Apache Escort seats are Nissan 300zx seats 💺
Thay are Weller's 👍
Cracking video, think you should bin those crappy bike carbs and get a set of twin 40’s or 45’s you know you want to really, proper sound with some proper grunt 🇬🇧👍
The wheels on the fiesta were Wellas I do believe and you must be getting established as a youtuber now bud..... The famous finger cluck has appeared 😂😂 pukka vid as always bud
Weller Wheels, Wella appropriately make hairdressing products.

That Sierra is an xr8 if I'm not mistaken. South African Import. Not 100% sure. As very rare.
South African Sierra XR8 was five door only.
Pretty sure it has a Chevy V8 fitted mate. 👍
Saph has TSW Hockenhiems on
Thanks for the info mate! 👍
Surely the best car there was the Land Rover Discovery 2.
I'd put the lot through the crusher
Thought you said never heard of it?
Serious horsepower... 360 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
In a car that weighs 800-900kg… pretty quick
@marcushayesford
Please wrap the electrical connector blocks and wires in rubber electrical tape before you drive it, to stop moisture from the road & weather causings shot circuits.
Wow, you are operating a fuel system without ANY springclips, circlips or lockwires,...
Do want a fire at some futre point when the rubber tubings start to age harden and crack ??
..let alone having the fuel pump and fuel lines so far as of yet/then, loose for abuse - I severely hope you will or did secure everything tightly with clips, clamps, brackets, insulating tapes, stone & splashguards (for the openair underbody pump)etc..!?!

Very tight fit on there ha ha that's what she said
Bollocks.
Hi Marcus. The Apache us actually the product of Jeff Uren, whose Cars I lusted after as a kid in the 70s: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Uren
I was going to say, I'm from South Africa and have never heard of the Apache Mk1 being produced here. The 3.4 V6 Essex motor's where built by Ford South Africa for the Courier bakkie (ute / pickup) line that was sold here. So it maybe a Apache with a RSA 3.4 Essex in it. The Perana MK1 Escorts where build here locally, basically a MK1 GT, wich had the BDA removed and Pinto fitted
Thanks for the info mate! 👍 I was just going by what the owner told me. I had heard of the Peranna Capris before but never the Apache. Ill pass on the info to the owner when I see him next. Hes always out and about at the meets. 👍
I had a few Escort's mk1 -2s repaired a RS 2000 front a back end smash spraffed the nosecone for my car , a South African Ford Bantam1/2 ton Bakkie en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Bantam#/media/File:Bantam_Escort_Mk.1A.jpg and a mk 3 Orion I sort of not quite of 2 halved both quarters and back panel and boot floor and put a mk4 rear bumper and rear spoiler I got from work
